Excellent information. I just printed the entire article out and will give it to my tech. It has to be the ABS system. It all points to that. You are good !! I will definitely keep you in the loop on this. I've already recommended this site to co-workers !! My brakes are 70% of the time acting like they need ABS when they don't (dry pavement/normal stopping. I've owned the ... Read More

I went out and looked at my 99 and you have the Kelsey-Hayes 4WAL system located on the drivers side under the hood (black cover with name on it). Looked up some info as follows: From- Motor:The nuts & bolts of Kelsey-Hayes 4WAL, Jun98 By- Black, Ludlow (partial test only from a longer article) Used on millions of GM trucks through the years, this antilock system can be a handful to ... Hi RepairDog: I have an update. I will be sending the vehicle to the shop on friday. In addition to your thoughts above, I did notice that when the brakes act up, you can also hear on the left front side a ticking sound that is in sync with the pulsation feeling I'm getting on the brakes.

I would take it to a Chevy dealer and leave it till they determine the cause - for your safety and others. If in the brake system, it sounds like a bad master cylinder, possible power brake booster leak (is the hose from it to the intake manifold good, rubber gromet good, and the connection not leaking - also the intake connection is a housing that can rotate and disconnect). Brake Problems 1999 Chevrolet Blazer
Written by: mitch66 on Apr 11, 2006 3:04:49 AM
I have a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer that has braking problems. When I apply the brakes I get a crunching/moaning sound mixed with an ABS type feel. The more frequent the braking, the worse the problem. Just last week, I applied the brakes and didn't think they were going to work. I had my foot pressed all the way down. It finally stopped. The pads & rotors are fine. No ABS Lights ... Read More

Thrown rod.. and coolant tank must be refilled every 2 weeks
Written by: mrrydia on Mar 31, 2006 4:43:06 PM
Chevy Blazer 1999, 4 door 2wd, 92k miles For the past year or so, after about every two weeks of driving, the coolant tank will be empty and the temp gauge will start to rise until I put more coolant in. I have had the problem "fixed" twice, one of those times at a GM dealer. I've also had a pressure test and it revealed that I don't have a leak.. ... Read More

1999 Blazer Front End Pulse
Written by: zippo99 on Mar 19, 2006 9:03:24 PM
I have a pulsing/clunking noise when braking coming from my front right wheel on my 1999 Chevy Blazer 2-door 4wd V6. Normally I would assume that a pulsing means a "warped" rotor, however, I replaced the front two rotors and pads with no change. Then I thought that the guide pins/bushings might be allowing the caliper too much play to "jiggle around" so I replaced the bushings, no change. Then I ... Read More

Kevin - I don't know if you fixed your wiper problem yet but it is easy and cheap to do (~$55). You need to replace the wiper control module (circuit board attached to the wiper motor) - part number is GM#12463090. Just a couple of screws and about 10 minutes of your time. (The problem is not the motor itself.)

I have a 1998 Jimmy that has the same problem with the noisy signal. I think the noise is coming from a flasher switch behind the Glove Box on Passenger side. How do you get to it or do you know of a site with an illustration for location and part? Thanks.dec

It sounds as if it is the same problem. I have had the same issue with the wipers also. Even though I finally got the clicking to stop, the wipers still won't function from time to time. This happened both before and after I cleaned the circuits in the control arm. Since the wiper function on the control arm is limited to a plastic rotating sprocket that then turns something else ... I have a 1998 GMC Jimmy that had the same problem. I searched and searched for the answer, and found it late one night. The fix is relatively simple. When the turn signal is turned on little metal shavings rub off. These shavings get into the lubricant around the connectors and end up bridging the gap between circuits. So in essence, the turn signal switch is partially connected, which is why ... Read More

1999 Chevrolet Blazer Clicking Turn Signal Noise

My 1999 Chevrolet Blazer started making a clicking noise today. It sounds like the turn signal flasher. The clicking sound is coming from the same little black box, on the passenger side from under the kick panel, as the turn signal click comes from. If your good with a wrench go to a pick your part junk yard and pull one. If not have a non-dealer look at it and have them pull the brake error lite code and trouble shoot from there. How's the brake fluid looking. dirty fluid can cause problems in your valves and sensors.
