hi ive been working on tis right now found out there is a line that goes into the fender..see if that has fallen off..its very small and u need a mirror to see it,when that's off it defaults to defrost and vents only.
Oh, I have seen this one before, several times. The vacuum line that runs from the intake manifold to the vacuum resevoir in the drivers side front fender is rotted/leaking. It runs from the drivers side (left bank) of the intake manifold on the engine to a "tee" near the power brake vacuum booster. Check all the hoses and replace them if rotten. I would take it to a Chevy dealer and leave it till they determine the cause - for your safety and others. Kevin - I don't know if you fixed your wiper problem yet but it is easy and cheap to do (~$55). You need to replace the wiper control module (circuit board attached to the wiper motor) - part number is GM#12463090. Just a couple of screws and about 10 minutes of your time. (The problem is not the motor itself.)

I have a 1998 GMC Jimmy that had the same problem. I searched and searched for the answer, and found it late one night. The fix is relatively simple. When the turn signal is turned on little metal shavings rub off. These shavings get into the lubricant around the connectors and end up bridging the gap between circuits. So in essence, the turn signal switch is partially connected, which is why ... Read More
