    I have a 2000 Cadillac Catera and it had been sitting for over a year. Changed the battery and the heater valve and oil change. Now the fan won't kick on to cool the engine and the key gets stuck in the ignition. The only way that I can get it to come out is to unhook the battery. Help!!!!!1

    Search forums for expert advice. I would think it's a pressure switch in brake system, older cars had this prob. occasionally and either it would be air in the line causing pressure or the pedal switch under the dash not releasing switch button by being out of adjustment. But with this highly sophisticated brake system I wouldn't bet on those issues being the answer. Dave

    The timing belt is designed to last 100,000 miles, The first Catera's were failing early. 2000 and 2001 should be fine. The belt breaking will crash into the valves and require head work. In Europe many cars are serviced at the 100,000 and extensive work is done. While your there you can replace the water pump, tensioner, all the pulleys/bearings.     The overheating could be related to low antifreeze or coolant, but is related to the oil pressure. My catera goes hot when the oil pressure is low. I don't want to say what the problem might be, but it could be bad. Check the coolant level and the coolant cap.     took it to the dealer and should also get plugs changed out while all the stuff is off at that time and to make sure coils aren't damage one of mine was when I took it back at 100000 to get tune up so had to replace one cause of the oil that was leaking and damage it

    The radio and control box is not the problem, it's a multi function relay. They replaced relay part #90494163 and sensor part #90528435. The relay cost $90.32 and the sensor $230.57 total with labor 450.79. In your case the sensor may not need to be replaced. Cadillac service should have known about this problem.
