It has already been fixed. It was a Crankshaft Position Sensor. I bought it at the Cadillac-Chevrolet Dealership for a few dollars less than O'Reilly's Auto Part store. Now, my radio is intermittent and the ABS Traction lights are on and my Speedometer, Odometer and Cruise Control don't work. Key gets stuck

I have a 2000 Cadillac Catera and it had been sitting for over a year. Changed the battery and the heater valve and oil change. Now the fan won't kick on to cool the engine and the key gets stuck in the ignition. The only way that I can get it to come out is to unhook the battery. Help!!!!!1

I have a 2000 Cadillac Catera that will start up fine when it is cold, but if shut off after being warm it can take up to an hour to start again. Has anyone else had this problem and could they maybe give me some insight thanks

Search forums for expert advice. I would think it's a pressure switch in brake system, older cars had this prob. occasionally and either it would be air in the line causing pressure or the pedal switch under the dash not releasing switch button by being out of adjustment. But with this highly sophisticated brake system I wouldn't bet on those issues being the answer. Dave

This is what my 2000 Catera is doing, and i've talked to alot of Cadillac specialists and they say it's the Transmission Control Module. Reason being, is because my transmission won't kick in to a higher gear while these lights are one... It shifts just fine, but for instance if you floor it, it won't kick up, it strips... I had the same problem with my 2000 Cadillac Catera Sport. Does you cadi have no horsepower when you are stopped and try to peel out of the intersection and have no juice? Also once you turn it off and turn it on it runs normal again? If you answer yes to these questions then in about 6 months you will need a new transmission. I though it was the stupid ... Read More

A bad CKP definitely goes whacky when it gets warm. The deceleration part, I don't know. Maybe it just happen to be at the right temperature to malfunction while the car was decelerating a couple of times. took it to the dealer and should also get plugs changed out while all the stuff is off at that time and to make sure coils aren't damage one of mine was when I took it back at 100000 to get tune up so had to replace one cause of the oil that was leaking and damage it

The radio and control box is not the problem, it's a multi function relay. They replaced relay part #90494163 and sensor part #90528435. The relay cost $90.32 and the sensor $230.57 total with labor 450.79. In your case the sensor may not need to be replaced. Cadillac service should have known about this problem.

Since you obviously have a computer you can go to this link and I've explained in detail how to replace the "crankshaft position sensor" on the 1998 Catera which I'm 99.9% sure will take care of your problem.
