Better than hoped for
The combination of performance and great driving fun and luxury is unique in a car of this price. The interior feels rich more like cars in the 40K and up level. The 197HP engine is misleading. Can't explain it but as a previous owner of a modified 1999 Mustang GT...I do know what performance feels like. This car combines a strong engine with European drive feel and luxury (no cheap plastic parts like...Lexus, Acura, Infinity. This car is an affordable alternative to Mercedes and Jaguar.
Rolling Artwork
I just drove home in my new Platinum Green Metallic Volvo 2.4T with Geartronic 5 speed automatic. I chose this car over the Acura 3.5RL and the G35 Infiniti. While both the other cars were very nice, I felt the Volvo had the best combination of comfort, safety, performance and styling. Just getting into this car evokes a feeling that the other two couldn't equal. As for reliability, I will have to judge that later. However, I have two friends who have Volvos, one with over 200,000 miles and the other with over 100,000 and neither have had any major problems. I'm looking forward to a long comfortable ride.

Beautiful Car
I have had my S60 for about a month now and I absolutely love it. I went from a Lincoln LS to the S60 and was afraid that going to a much smaller car would be an issue but it's not. True it is much smaller in the back seat, however I have not had any complaints (and if I do, they can get out an walk). The lines are nice and the interior is well laid out and very comfortable. I would recommend this car to anyone!
Car to Avoid
In 11 months of ownership the cruise control failed, transmission doesn't shift right, all bulbs on the rear of the car have burned out at least once each, and the throttle control system required replacement. The transmission problem required 6 different visits to the dealer, and still has not been corrected. The interior has 2 ongoing squeaks and rattles that after 3 attempts, the dealer can not seem to repair. Overall, the quality of the car is extremely poor, performance is very average. The only attribute this car has is comfortable front seats.
Great Car
My wife and I leased the S60 2.4T. This car isn't perfect, but we love it none the less. None of the quirks we have found in it would cause us not to get the car again. I would have probably preferred a 3 series, but ruled it out because of rear-wheel drive and that arrogant stereo-type of BMW drivers. There are some things that I would have expected to be a little better in a car of this price (stickered at $36,000). The engine is kind of noisey. In my opinion, it should be whisper quiet. Also, when the AC compressor kicks on, you know it. I wish the car had more "nooks and crannies" to put stuff in. Storage space in the cabin is at a premium.
