Volvo Owner
I have had a few maintenance problems but overall very satisfied. Worked with Volvo of the Triad in Winston- Salem, NC and Volvo of Dallas in Carrollton, TX. The sales people (Trey) at Volvo of the Triad were great to work with. Totally opposite the dealership in Greensboro (Crown). Have referred my brother and two friends to Volvo of the Trid and they both bought Volvo's there. Most of my service work has been with Volvo of Dallas and the shop supervisor (Aldo) is the best.
Shame on Volvo makers
This is the worse vehicle purchase of my entire life. the constant visits to the shop, brakes replacement, engine light comes on, noises in the dash. Constant replacment of the seals for oil problems, headlight replacements. being impressed with volvo's reputation made me purchase this car, but Volvo has really let consumers down on this model. Save yourself time and money, and move on to a better car purchase. The only great thing is the dealership is very kind they give you a loaner to drive until your vehicle is finish.

Excellent car
I bought this car a year ago and I love it! I always get compliments, even when I am at traffic lights. It rides smooth and is very sturdy. The only thing that bothers me is the cupholder blocking the stereo. I still can't understand why someone designed it to be in the place that it is.
Fun, but not the quality expected
The S40 is excellent with road perfromance, but the continuous maintenance really takes away from the fun. This car, in 2 years, has been in the shop more than any other car I've owned. Very disappointed - 2 brake sets, four new headlamps($15.00 each), malfunctioning engine maintenance light, stuck cup holder (that's useless) and that's not all. Good car for people with lots of money and free time to spend in the shop. I hang on to it because it is a pleasure to drive.
Just thought you should know
Ok, right to it: Cup holder sticks, CD can't be used when using cup holder, radio/cd lights are out, arm rest is cheap and a nusance (pops down with the slightest touch and hits drink in cup holder), head lights go out all of the time, dash board reflects on windsheild making it hard to see when the sun is out, paint job was poor, rear locks stick. Maybe the design has changed in 8 years.
