Several problems
I have been driving my 2018 VW Tiguan SL for a year now and it has several problems. 1. While driving into my garage today the engine turned off, it gave me a notification to turn the engine on manually, I pressed the button, forgot it was on “drive” told me to first put it on park, which I did then I pressed the button and it turned in. This happens once in a while. 2- problem is while the passenger front seat is empty, when the car is running, I place my cell phone on the seat and the seat belt indicator lights up and beeps, when I remove the phone, the beeping stops and the indicator disappears, if I place my phone again, it shows again. 3- The radio volume increases by itself. 4. The rearview mirror sometimes does not work. Has anyone experienced these problems?

Teutonic Excellence
Bought my VW Tiguan in 2018. After 2 Years, one of the best vehicles I ever owned. The outside appearance is timeless, VW does not change body styles every year. Fuel economy is excellent, when driving accordingly. I get 28 mpg city and easy up to 36 mpg highway. The ride is quiet and comfy, only when accelerating hard, the engine is louder. 4motion is excellent in rain and snow. Interior comfort is sufficient for an SUV in that price range. Lots of room, especially in the back (I do not have 3rd row, no needed). Comfortable seats, excellent for long distance travel. Solid built vehicle. My son liked my Tiguan so much after driving cross-country, he bought one in 2019 and is as happy as I am. Yes, there were some recalls and service actions but all was done fast and professionally without major interruptions. This is not a VW issue, lots of companies have those actions. The VW Tiguan has been given a relatively low score on reliability by different media outlets----my VW Tiguan is as reliable as any other brand out there and for the price I paid ($ 27,000.00) I have no regrets whatsoever and would/will buy another one in due time.

Stuck with a lemon
I purchased my 2018 SE in November of 2018. By the end of January 2019 (with less than 1k miles) major engine issue light goes on, car is in the shop for days. March 2019 sunroof gets stuck open but I was able to eventually get it closed. May 2019 sunroof gets stuck open again only it will not close at all. After almost losing several fingers we were able to stuff it back in and get it to close. I work 2 jobs so spending time at the dealership to get things fixed isn’t always possible so I just didn’t use my sunroof all summer. September 2019(only about 11k miles) engine light turns on and then a second engine light comes back on two weeks later. Took days off of work to coordinate with the dealership a time to get the sunroof fixed and engine lights checked. Dealership was unable to fix the sunroof(a whole new one had to be ordered and took a week for delivery) and they didn’t even get to the check engine lights. Had to return a week later for the sunroof install and to check the engine lights. More time off from work, money wasted on gas and tolls. Sunroof replaced along with several other items they found during diagnostic check. Here I am with a car that’s less than a year old, under 15k miles, and I’m in the shop every other month. VW accepts no responsibility for this lemon of a car. Buyer beware... I’m now stuck with a lemon and will probably take a loss on this car just to gets rid of it and find something reliable. Such a shame. I had two previous VW Jettas that I drove for over 125k miles each without a single issue. This will likely be my last VW. Too bad.
