Used 2019 Volkswagen Jetta 1.4T S 4dr Sedan (1.4L 4cyl Turbo 8A) Consumer Reviews
Love this car!
We purchased this vehicle last weekend, PLENTY of low end torque, comfy and the electronics options you get are outstanding for a sub $20,000 car. We fell in love with this car while on vacation and rented a Jetta SE. We couldn't believe the car was getting 42 mpg going up and down canyon roads! I've received multiple compliments on the sleek styling and the silk blue color. I looked at the new 2019 civics which look like boy racer cars. The Jetta looks more sophisticated and 'grown up'. Only complaints I have are not being able to lock the doors from the inside when you get out and 1st and 2nd gear shift too early, sometimes making the car feel like it is hesitating.

Not a happy camper
Bought a new Jetta S 2019, and within 50 miles my transmission makes a grinding noise going about 30mph. VW says its normal...but its not. I see that this happens in all 2019 Jettas with the 8-speed auto transmission. Please research this model before you buy. Lawsuit Investigation into VW Jetta 8-Speed Transmission Problems

Good price, poor quality
Poor quality have had 5 issues in less than 5 months. Dealer says one issue is normal, the grinding of brakes. You can judge for yourself if you'd like, my review is on youtube Under "Volkswagen VW 2019 Jetta review with all 5 issues". The issue I'm most concerned with is the brakes and you can hear the "normal" 3 minutes into the video. Everyone I know says it's not regular. 30 years of driving and never heard. It's great having a warranty but when you bring it in for the third time and they say there's nothing wrong it's pointless. They even said other customers have complained but that's how Volkswagens sound. Crazy. Of course there's the other issues including a back panel popping off and a recall for water leaks. Very very disappointed. Did I say very?

VW not being honest again-they say the is “normal”
Our 2016 Jetta engine was way better. VW does not admit to engine torque-shifting-griding issues. Many complaints on line and maybe could be fit with software. In 3 and 4th gears it shifts quickly when only at 1800rpm then goes to 1400. Shifts way too early. VW keeps claiming it is”normal”. Also 2016 mpg was way better. This one is much worse and get 27mpg around town vs the 34. Not sure if their mpg is honest again. Burns oil because of the transmission problem. For the largest automaker with tons of technology, don’t know why they can’t get a basic thing correct or cutting corner in not correcting before rollout. Unfortunately Probably our last VW after the lease is up.
What is not to like
Bought an S that was a dealer loaner. The car is certified with a 12,000 mile warranty that kicks in after the factory warranty. Also got a 25% discount. The car is much more than I expected. More than enough power, great ride, handles great, trunk space is awesome and i have gotten a lot of compliments on the looks. Gas mileage is out if sight. For a base model with “driver assist package” you get a lot of bang for your buck. Very happy with my Jetta.
