Luxury Ride at a Good Price

2024 Subaru Outback
I chose the Outback because I needed some utility, but still wanted a car platform. I purchased the top model (Touring XT) for a price less than any other comparable SUV out there. The ride is what really sold me. It is very comfortable and soaks up bumps like a large luxury sedan. There is some minor wind noise at highway speeds. The interior is also top notch with quality materials … throughout. I had been driving a 2011 Subaru Legacy (base model) which served me well (210,000 miles) and is now being used by my son. However, it lacked power so I wanted the turbo. What a difference! It drives effortlessly. There are plenty of other creature comforts you get with the Touring XT model that are well the money.
My main concerns with the vehicle and relatively minor. First, it lacks storage space for small items up front. There really in no place to put items other than under the arm rest or the side door pockets. I miss the storage compartment I had in the center of my Legacy which is now occupied by a large touch screen and wireless charger. Which leads me to two other complaints. The infotainment system lags at times, is slow to start up, and the built-in navigation system rarely gets the voice command correct. Lucky I can use Apple Carplay. Likewise, the wireless charger simply does not work. No matter what you do, it takes an eternity to charge your phone and frequently shuts off because it gets too hot. I now use it for the minimal storage it provides and charge my phone using the port. The last nuisance is the auto stop-start system which jolts harshly each time it engages. You can shut it off, but you have to remember to do so each time you start the car.
