2002 Toyota ECHO
Gas is practically free, repairs are stupidly cheap and rarely needed, always starts, even that time it was encased in about 2 inches of ice. For city driving, I can't imagine a better car. It picks up fast from stopped at a light and is easy to fit into any parking space. With decent snow tires I know I'll be the one who can still leave the house when everyone else is stuck in snow … or can't start their car.
On highways, well if it's not windy it's fine. The wind though....car almost blows off the road in moderate winds. Even the wind displacement from oncoming traffic shakes the car.
After 21 years of service in salty, snowy Canada, my faithful Echo has become too corroded to go on. It still has the original engine and heater which are both going strong. I spent maybe $1,000 on repairs in the 5 years I've owned it, while the car was aged 16-21. I'm still driving it while I look for a replacement. It feels like saying goodbye to a best friend.
