Big power
Handled extremely well, handled the steep curvey roads, with plenty of power.

Nice truck, wouldn’t buy it again
There’s a lot to like about this truck: wireless smartphone charging, heated seats, auto-dimming mirror, home-link (opens garage doors), smooth ride, soft-close tailgate, huge screen for backup camera (and other functions), link to smartphone GPS. It drives like a dream. What I don’t like: the speedometer and just about everything else is digital. I want an analog speedometer with a needle that moves when I go faster or slower, not a displayed number. MY NUMBER ONE GRIPE: Plain and simple, the backseat is a joke. Only if the driver and all three passengers are 5’ 6” and under, would there be enough room in the back seat. I rarely have passengers, which is a blessing, and every time I look into the back seat I regret having bought this truck. Dual HVAC controls are part of a hideously-expensive option package, so that means constant conflict with my wife: I’m always hot, she’s always cold— thanks, Toyota! Even the driver’s seat has manual controls; again, that’s only available as part of an expensive option package. Forget about the simple joys of life, like pushing the trip odometer button to see how far it is to go somewhere and back. That button does not exist, although trip mileage could, possibly, be calculated using the huge “infotainment” screen. That brings me to my final point: the huge screen and its many functions are not at all intuitive, and you will spend lots of time with the owner’s manual or playing with the controls, to perform basic tasks. We paid top dollar for this truck, then we paid for rustproofing and even an extended warranty. That means, we are stuck with it for many years to come. Shame on us for being stupid.

2024 TACO FTW
In Hawaii, Toyota is king and Tacoma's are the most popular trucks. One of the reasons is that they are built to last (200,000 mileage club) and they hardly loose value. Their depreciation rate is minimal in Hawaii. I recently bought my 3rd Toyota Tacoma. I had an 03', then 15' Taco and now 2024 Tacoma Sport. I went for the premium package with all the bells and whistle to include heated and cooling seats, & 14" screen. I love the look of the Underground gray. I am a true fan of this truck with all of its updates inside and out, I get honks and shaka's everywhere I go.
