Quiet and Elegant

2021 Toyota Sienna LE 8-Passenger 4dr Minivan (2.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

Drove it for 350 miles each way on the road and had no issues. Acceleration is not very good but after all it is a minivan and gets great gas mileage.

TOYOTA SIENNA XLE-AWD (in Québec)

Ben, 10/19/2021
2021 Toyota Sienna XLE 7-Passenger 4dr Minivan AWD (2.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

VERY BAD: quality on the ajustment of the outside (like the hatchback door who not fit exactly with a lot of space between each part), bad pearl white paint with big defaults, very cheap materiel everywhere inside (ex: cheap plastics), noise from the slidings doors and sand powder in gravel road come everywhere in the mecanism in these sliding doors. BAD AND STUPID: The none removal second seats (who is this stupid engineer who decide that), the floor is not flat in the back area with many holes between each third seats. The big screen in the middle of the dash who is not able to read adequatly the folders in my USB key for my music (it,s really not a computer ...!) DISHONEST MARKETING AND PRICES: For more than $50000, the equipment is very cheap and not generous and in Canada it's impossible to have many equipment in option if we don't pay for a Limited. If we want this or this, we lost that or that. Toyota marketing is very dishonest. Example: In Québec, where the roads are very bad, it's IMPOSSIBLE to have a real spare tire in option. Only the cheapest model, the LE, have a FREE spare tire. All the other models have ONLY the repair kit. Not possible in option like in the USA for only $75. Some engineers merit to lost their jobs, they are so stupid. In Canada, we have a very poor choice of colors (inside or outside). For example, the only way to have the chic light brown inside and not the ugly grey in all the LE and XLE, is to buy the XLE with the white pearl in option for $255 more (very strange because in the states you pay $425 for this color ???). BAD: the noise of the small engine in acceleration and the power, after it's OK but not very quiet. VERY GOOD: mileage (easy to make around 35 to 40 miles per gallon with no effort). The beauty of the front dash and all the space to put many objects (but to have 16 cup holders it's stupid). The space for the second seats. The seat confort (not to soft like a german car) but the Softex is to hot in the summer. General confort on a long trip. The AWD good, for the moment, my first winter is coming, I hope it's going to be true again. CONCLUSION: I hope this van is going to have the same mechanic reliability like all the others Toyota but THE QUALITY OF THE ASSEMBLING AND THE INSIDE MATERIAL is VERY, VERY, VERY CHEAP for $50000 and I have Toyota's since 1981, I can see the difference. Toyota are very dishonest for the way they are in their marketing (I think they use their reputation and for them, the opinion of their customers are not important). The 2021 Sienna is an american car made in Indiana; IT'S REALLY NOT A JAPANESE CAR FOR THE QUALITY and the difference is very big. Bad quality in the Indiana plant.

A few little hiccups but a great vehicle

We bought a 21 LE AWD and are overall pleased with it after three months. We had a little bit of water coming in from the passenger side front window (the small one of the two piece window design) in the carwash. Dealer fixed the problem by bending the mounting tab to put more pressure on it inside the door and no leaks anymore. The driver side window in the same location I can’t help but think needs the same thing done….it doesn’t leak but you can hear just a little wind noise at 75-80mph on the highway. They wouldn’t fix this as they state it’s a common thing. Besides that we love everything about the van and are VERY happy with the LE package considering it’s certainly good enough for a family vehicle without spending an extra $10k+ on leather and technology that will be outdated in a few years anyways. I wish the 2nd row seats were removable but there is still a good amount of space regardless. The hybrid system is new to me and the engine kicks in at random intervals to charge the battery while idling so that’s different. Usually the battery power will take you from 0-20 and then the engine will kick in. I strongly urge the LE package…you still get radar cruise, blind spot monitoring, collision avoidance, lane assist, and your kids can surf their phones instead of watching a different screen as they’ll do anyways and it saves you a ton of money. We got ours out the door for $40k and you can save more if you don’t need the awd. We live in a snowy part of the country so we opted in on it.

By far a better FUV

Family Utility Vehicle. I have had a 2011 Sienna before buying this new hybrid FUV, and it is A LOT better by far, except when accelerating, but if you drive normally this van has more than enough and ample power. With all new cars i have had, the first hundreds kilometers/miles I rarely drive over 90 kmh/56mph. And had an impressive 6.1L/100km=46 mpg continuons. I have chosen the LE AWD because having a spare tire included is very important to me, it also ride smoother and quieter than previous gen. Having heated front seats and steering wheel is a big plus up north, and I just love the bridge console.

Quiet

When you make a van this quiet, even the slightest engine noise will sound “loud” by comparison. Other reviews talk about the engine being loud but I definitely think it isn’t - and I’ve literally owned every van on the market at one point or another. Toyota cornered the market on this one. I just don’t see any other vans competing with the build quality, looks, features, and mpg of this van.
