Great mileage in summers

I previously owned a 2017 XLE Toyota Sienna & upgraded to the 2021 XLE Sienna . I went from 300 miles per tank to roughly 550 miles per tank . Living in the Northeast the gas mileage goes down 50-75 miles in the winter because with the heat on the engine runs more to keep the vehicle warm & gas is more condensed in cold. My biggest complaint is the side rear windows in the 3rd row do not open like previous models. This makes for a lot of wind blowing around the cabin when you have front windows open when driving. Other posters complain about the engine noise but it's not bad & you get used to it quickly . I don't notice the difference in power unless I have 4 adults in the van & trying to accelerate quickly onto the highway. I'm about to take a 3000 mile trip & will update once I return on mileage & performance.

Worst vehicle I ever purchased. Always being repaired by Toyota. Sun-roof leaks constantly. Under heavy rain it'll ruin everything inside. It molds stinks then I gotta have interior cleaned which sometimes means they have to take the seats out to clean the carpet. The center console fills full of water ruining everything inside. The power sliding doors are always tearing up, an unessary feature in my book; When they do, somebody is stuck inside and they'll have to crawl out. I mean, how lazy are we.The fobs are alway coming out of sinc with the van a a Toyota person has to come out with new fobs and re-program them. A huge inconvenience especially when I'm away from home or a Toyota dealership is an hour or two away from where I am and the doors wont unlock or the van doesn't start because it doesnt reconize the fob. Something underneath it always pops when you drive it. Worry some. Toyota doesnt know what it is. The front seats are crammed too tight against the center console. If something falls down there, it's really hard to get it out plus it gets nasty down there and you cant get your hand down there to clean it. You have to have the seats removed just to clean out down there. Toyota doesnt warrenty that and they have to clean it as not to void the warranty, and its insanely expensive. My hand won't fit under the seats to clean under them. Can't even fit a vacuum attachment under them to clean under there and it gets nasty. Lastly, the other day, I went to a gas station to buy a gallon of milk and when I was driving home the milk fell over in the seat and the lid popped off spilling about a quart of milk out before I could catch it. No Toyotas fault but cleaning the milk out is darned near impossible since I cant fit my hand under the seat or between the seats and the console. Now its soured and it smells awful. Cant wait for it to mold. The milk has shorted out the power seats and apparently dried in the seat belt buckle and now it wont unlock. Again, not Toyotas fault, but if they just made this dumb thing smarter at least I could clean it out. Now Toyota wants to remove the seats to clean it up. Repair the power seat. Replace the stuck seatbelt buckle and remove the carpet just to get the smell out. And of course something like that isnt warrented and is insanely expensive. Not a kid friendly van because the only thing you can get to, to clean is the floorboards. If snacks get dropped between the seats or if a juice box gets spilled its there to stay because you cant get to it to clean it out. I absolutely hate this car. The worst, most expensive and regrettable purchase I ever made. I always believed Toyota stood for quality and great engineering. Not after this mistake. I switched from Dodge Caryvans to this and I regreat it everyday. I wish something would total this thing to get me out from under it. I worked in manufacturing for a long, long time. I know all about lean manufacturing and kanbon and kaizan. Toyota pioneered it and now its taking over manufacturing by storm. Its all about cutting corners and maximizing profets.Thats why everything we buy now it expensive and junk.

Bought the brand new in 2021 and now have under 60k miles already have major issue. Gas release pressure valve locked. Cost over 1k to repair. Poorly built vehicle and not reliable. Ol Toyota vehicles are much more reliable.

Minivan cargo and towing is important, too!

Looking at your recent reviews of minivans, and of factors not stressed enough: I would like you to better examine: CARGO USE: While people-hauling is important, of course, minivans are also used for hauling cargo and for towing. Yet, many reviewers ignore those functions, often to discuss trivialities like built-in vacuum cleaners. > CENTER-SEAT REMOVAL to maximize cargo-hauling. The 2021 Toyota Sienna FAILS on that, not allowing any removal due to a "curtain airbag" excuse, which does not seem to bother the Honda "Odyssey" or the Chrysler "Pacifica." (I have had two Chrysler "Town and Country" minivans where all the fatter, comfy seats could be easily removed.) > CENTER-SEAT AND REAR-SEAT COMFORT: "Fold-into-the-floor" seats seem to be thinner and less comfortable for long journeys than removable seats. Do the your adult reviewers ever ride hundreds of miles in these middle or rear seats? > MPG: If there was ever a vehicle that needs higher-MPG, it is a modern minivan. Yet: the non-hybrid, pure-ICE gasoline versions seem to get the same around-town MPG as 20 years ago. Why? > AWD: This is a straightforward engineering add-on to any hybrid/ICE vehicle. The 2021 Toyota "Sienna" seems to have figured it out by powering the front wheels with a gasoline ICE engine, and the rear wheels as needed with an electric motor. > TOWING: Any minivan, hybrid or not, with any kind of ICE gasoline engine should be able to tow at least 2,500 lbs, or, better. the more-usual 3,500+ lbs. Reviewers often seem to ignore this capability. NOTE: The Chrysler "Pacifica Hybrid" seems to FAIL on this as it seems not to be able to tow anything without voiding the warranty. > STYLING: To my eyes, the Chrysler "Pacifica" and Honda "Odyssey" have acceptably-styled "faces." The 2021 Toyota "Sienna" FAILS: its unnecessarily enormous grille is annoyingly bizarre. (This could be "remedied" a bit by buying a dark body color, or by taking the vehicle to a paint shop to disguise the lower-third of its enormous dark grille with a body-matching paint.) > HYBRID (Electric): Some reviewers gets tangled up ideologically in seeing all supposedly "renewable" (electric) tech as "good." But the reality is that almost ALL electric vehicles get their batteries recharged by their GASOLINE-powered ICE engines ("Prius") or from the electrical grid that actually powered by NATURAL GAS, some nuclear, some coal, some hydroelectric, a bit of wind, etc. These 2021 vehicles will be long gone from consumer use a generation or more BEFORE the electrical grid is expanded enough to move dispersed renewable energy around the country to where it is needed. > TAX CREDITS AND INCENTIVES: You should emphasize a need to shift the current consumer tax incentives to the manufacturers or dealers for each product actually sold to the public. That way, the average consumer would see a DROP IN THE HIGH RETAIL PRICE, thus boosting demand, as opposed to the current "rich person's" price-adjustment via tax credits. Either way, the federal and state treasuries are subsidizing these purchases, but at least the middle- and working-classes who pay far less in taxes would benefit, too.
