2025 Toyota Camry XSE Hybrid

Vanessa L, 10/19/2024
2025 Toyota Camry XSE 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

We purchased a 2025 Toyota Camry XSE Hybrid in August 2024. It is the second Toyota Camry XSE Hybrid we have purchased from Northcutt Toyota (We handed down the 2023 to our college student when I purchased the 2025). Both cars are awesome but the 2025 has more features (integrated dash cam, heads-up display, cooled seats, and panoramic moonroof are the main ones) than the 2023. This is one of the nicest vehicles we've ever owned and has lots of great options at the XSE trim level. It handles great, has awesome "get up and go" and gets great gas mileage, too!

Huge Improvement Over 2018 Camry

Randy, 07/27/2025
2025 Toyota Camry LE 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

I had a 2018 Camry we bought new and traded it in on the new 2025 Camry. Loved the 2018, a great car and wouldn't even have considered getting rid of it, until, I test drove a 2025, hybrid Camry. Such a quiet very smooth driving car. I immediately fell in love with driving the 2025, instant acceleration with they hybrid when depressing the gas pedal because of the electric motor and gas combo when more acceleration needed, very responsive. I usually drive in eco mode, but standard mode is more responsive and gas mileage may suffer a little, not a huge difference, plus standard maybe a little more fun to drive. I cant tell when the gas engine starts or stops, very smooth. When accelerating harder, when the gas engine is running you can hear the engine noise, but I believe it is less noisy than the 2018. I was getting around 33mpg with the 2018 average all around driving, maybe up to 35mpg. Got around 40 on the highway. With the 2025 getting 48 to 50 all around driving and getting about 48 strictly highway doing around 75-78 mph. Just a joy to drive this car. It keeps you in the center of your lane in cruise mode on the interstates with that lane keeping activated. The 2018 would keep you in the lane, but may go from one side of the lane, correct then maybe go to the other side of the lane, but the 2025 keeps you in the middle and works well. You cannot go "hands free" for very long before you get a warning that that system will be disabled unless you do a slight correction. If you just keeps your hands on the wheel loosely, that little resistance is enough to keep that from happening as car knows your hands are on the wheel.. The model I have is the LE and has plenty of bells and whistles for me. Also just front wheel drive because of better gas mileage, less expensive and don't what to have to buy 4 new tires on the all wheel drive option if one tire goes bad as all tires need to be the same tread depth. Would I buy it again or just keep the 2018? Would definitely buy it again. LIke I said loved the 2018 and didn't plan on selling until it had at least 150,000 to 200,000 miles, until I drove the 2025 Camry, which are all hybrids. 2018 had 87,000 miles and got a good trade in, $14,000. Never had one problem with the 2018 and of course none with the 2025, have about 4000 miles on it. Had a 2011 Prius when I traded for the 2018 Camry, 175,000 miles, bought it used with around 30,000, was flawless, never one problem Toyota is one super reliable car and the hybrid system is perfected. The 2025 rides better also than the 2018, takes bumps in the road better. Only one complaint, the 2018 interior is nicer than the 2025, both are the LE model. They cheapened the interior of the 2025, I assume to keep costs down. Still not cheap looking, just some differences and not as nice. The ecvt transmission is a wonderful trouble free cvt type transmission. it's an electric cvt transmission. Some of the cvt transmissions today I don't think are as reliable as the Toyota ecvt's. The 2018 was a 8 speed regular transmission, which at times could be jerky, but once I got used to it, didn't bother me.

Almost perfect

Grew up in a car culture family. Mercedes, BMW, Porsche in our house and monthly subscriptions to all the major publications in print. Funny how times change as I now seek “value” for my auto tastes. At home, we have a CRV, Insight and a Highlander. Although not hybrid, I recently experienced a late model Camry LE Hertz rental while on vacation in FL and I felt my experience was still relevant with common traits of any Camry. The value statement presented by Toyota is very compelling. On the highway holding 80 mph at 1,800 rpm. The driving dynamic takes a “4” driver to a “”6” on a 0-10 scale as a reference just based upon chassis, steering and suspension. It’s very forgiving for a “fleet car”. Braking excellent. I put 300 miles on the car within a week. Excellent seating support. Smooth highway offers a quiet cabin… until a semi tractor trailer comes along side, or the road surface has imperfections. The noise level becomes alarmingly intrusive. Check: Are rear windows down? No. Same for noise through floor boards. Hence, 4 stars instead of 5. Almost a perfect sedan for everyone. Perhaps, XLE mitigates this with noise reduction materials? Toyota: please invest to correct this cost effectively, and id suggest they nailed it. Not a Mercedes, but its not 1978 either.

Great value

2025 Toyota Camry XLE 4dr Sedan AWD (2.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

40k is a lot of money to spend on a basic car, but that is the world we live in. That said, this one is an excellent value comparatively speaking. A spacious AWD hybrid that gets mid 40’s mpg…with plenty of amenities and legendary Toyota reliability. It was an easy decision.

Not exactly everything I dreamed of.

I have owned toyota vehicles for the past 20 years and so far this has been the worst I have ever experienced, And I have only had it a week. first let me add: Yes it gets good mileage, but that is about all I can say about it. First it is smaller than the 2015 Camry I have. second there is an annoying rattle in the dash that sounds like something is loose. Third the head rests are very uncomfortable and cannot be adjusted except up or down which does not help. Fourth: there is an unacceptable amount of road noise. Fifth: I had to subscribe to a navigation app in order to have GPS capability at $15.00 a month. Sixth: The passenger side manual seat adjustment is crap. That is all I have noticed up to this point, but I feel there will be more in my future.
