This car's so good I can't part with it...

...even though I replaced it with a 2017 Lexus LS460. This was the last of the ultra-reliable Toyotas. After this the defects began to grow exponentially with minor inconveniences to engine recalls. On the topic of such, I got my 2002 V6, in 2004. It had 66,000 miles, and cost $15,000. In all that time the car's paid for itself many times over, simply in reliable service and not having any catastrophic repairs, (as frequently happens on other, less cars). I over-maintained this car, as I do to all cars I own, (oil 3 mon/3000, coolant change once a year, ATF drain and refill every 20,000 to 30,000 miles etc.) so for that reason at 204K miles it drives better and is in better shape than most other cars with half the mileage. Original engine, original trans, just a timing belt every 90,000 miles plus a couple of starters and water pumps along the way. Reliability-wise cars don't get much better than this. If forced to somehow, I would not hesitate to buy a Camry with 100,000 miles before I'd buy a brand new anything else.

The cars new look is WAY ahead of the previous (yawn) version. The interior is innovative, clean, sporty, and has ALOT of room. All controls are top rate, and ergonomically correct. The SE is as luxurious and quiet, refined and trustworthy as you expect for the driving you will do 85% of the time. BUT, it also has the verve to take wonderful curvy mountain roads and turn them into pure driving entertainment.

I've had the car for 6 months. I've also experienced sulphur smells from the A/C. The loud scraping noice for the ABS actuator is annoying. The seat length is a little short for me (6'2"). There is a creaking noise in the front dash and the suspension groans a little. The CD player burnt out and had to be replaced. Those are the bad things. I will give the Camry credit for being a quiet car and it does ride well. The controls are laid out very well (except cruise control).

I could not be more pleased with my purchase. It is very fun to drive, smooth and quiet. When I first drove it I couldn't believe the engine was running! It has great pick-up, tight handling, and very comfortable seats (front and rear). This is by far the best used car purchase I have ever made!
