I Love It!
The scion tC is a wonderful car! It is fun to drive and is made very well. I would recommend this car to everyone interested in a sporty yet comfortable vehicle.
Best Value For Money Bargain - Best Buy
This is the best car out there for the money. I shopped many cars when buying this one and took a good three months before deciding after test drives and reading reviews. This car beats the Corolla, Civic, and Sentra hands down for the money. You can get many more standard features in it than in a Honda Civic EX. With this car you save at least $5,000-$7,000 with the same features. I drive it 100% in the city and it gets just 19-22 mpg as advertised. You can get up to 33-35 mpg at 70 mph on the freeways. Overall I am a very satisfied Toyota customer. Don't go by the negative reviews out there, some people don't understand cars at all. Period.

Better Than Expected
This is the best car out there for such a low price. It's fun to drive. It accelerates very quickly. Its reliability is questionable though. The engine should last a long time because it's a Toyota Camry engine. The body seems a little too plastic. Overall, it's a great valued car. I recommend it to anyone on a tight budget or who likes to tune cars.
Best Car for the Money
I just bought an '07 Scion tC this past weekend and even though I've had my eye on one for a while, actually owning this car is much more of a joy than I could possibly have imagined. I had a '99 (new) Jetta for about 7 years and had lost the excitement of owning/driving my car quite some time ago. The tC's fit and finish are top notch and this car has WAY more power than I expected. Its interior layout is intuitive and all of the buttons have a solid, tactile feel. You really can't beat Japanese automobile craftmanship these days, especially Toyota. I thought about the new Civic Si but its design seems pedestrian compared to the tC. Scion really nailed the youth market branding. I highly recommend this car. Period.
Great Car
The Scion tC is a great car for the price. Put it side by side with an '07 Civic and it's amazing how similar they look. It drives great for the money. You can't expect the car to handle corners like a BMW, but it is good. It's a spunky car. First and second gear are very quick. The aftermarket parts by TRD are reasonably priced and are locked in at that price for three years from the day you buy the car. I can't complain much about it for a vehicle that only cost $17,000.
tBs' 2007 Scion tC
I'm absolutely in love with the 2007 Scion tC. I traded my Civic in for it after i thought that I would keep that car forever. The tC is a different looking ride, more different and better looking than any Civic! Once driving the tC it blew away any other car I test drove. It is so much car for the money. It combines Toyota's reliability with a Lexus-like style, I have already lowered my tC it will just get better and better as I modify it over time!
Increadible Scion TC
The Scion tC is an increadiable car. I went from a 2004 Toyota Matrix XR supercharged and the Scion has just as much power. The tC is a lighter car and has the acceleration that will throw you back in your seat wanting more.
Too Many Visits to the Service Shop...
When I bought this car, I was thinking, cool, I don't have to worry about taking any trips to the shop, because I'm quite busy. Yeah right, this car saw the shop more in its three months life than my Acura Integra did in its 11 year lifetime! Rattle this, rattle that, clutch disengaging when cold, bad engineering on the glass wind deflector/sunroof. It's like sitting under an exquisite chandelier during an earthquake. It's beautiful to look at, but deadly when things goes wrong. The coolest thing about this is, Toyota isn't really doing anything to fix it. I have an '07 tC and still had a hail of shattered glass fall into the cabin. Other than that, it's a decent car with OK gas mileage
New '07 Scion tC
I got my new tC six days ago and I am in love with it. At first I thought the pure pricing thing was BS. It isn't. I love the look of the car and it feels like I'm floating when I drive it. The Pioneer CD player is really cool. I got the Flint Micah color and it looks so cool night and day time. The car has the same motor as the Toyota Camry and has great pick up. For now I love the car and only time can tell what I will think about it in the future
tC's Own Civic's
I'm 18 years old and this is my first real car. I had a 1990 Nissan Maxima for a while. This car is everything I wanted and more. It looks nice inside and out, has enough power to have fun, everything is high quality, and it's fully loaded bone stock all for under $18,000. This car is best car you can get under $20,000, no other company will have two moonroofs, 17 inch rims, keyless entry, and a MP3 headunit come stock. The car has nice pickup especially 2nd gear and its ride is sooooo smooth. It's like you're gliding. I recommend this car for anyone.
Not the Target Market, but Enjoying It
The Scion tC is a very well equipped car for the cost. It is not a sports car, but it is fairly sporty. It also is not a fuel economy champion, but it is better than many. It's a versatile, fun coupe for a couple who have grown kids, but still want something other than a plain vanilla sedan.
Awesome Car with an Affordable Price
I just exchanged Sienna van for this coupe. It is really fun to drive, I test drove it three times before I bought it. The coupe is perfect for what I need with its great handling and speed. It also has great build quality. I don't need to upgrade much because most of the things I need come standard. I love the sunroof, it looks cool. This car also has a nice stereo. I cannot complain about the price. It comes with 17 inch alloy wheels! It's awesome. Thanks again for the Toyota build quality.
tC Quickie
Well, I got my tC brand new this past November, and I must say, I LOVE everything about it!
Great Car So Far
I bought the car Febuary 8, 2007 and as of today no problems, it is very fun to drive, easy to clean, and really comfortable. If you are thinking about purchasing one then test drive it and do it. They really are perfect cars for kids, I am 19 and financed it all on my own, with $2000 down and a credit score of 720. The payments are actually very cheap. Also has a great warranty, so far I love my tC.
Best Buy
This is the very first car that I have bought on my own. I love all the features for the price that I paid. It was incredibly easy to finance, since Scion provides finance programs for those who are first time buyers and the interest rate isn't outrageous. This is a great car with plenty of room for four passengers. I love it!
RealDeal
I bought the tC to commute to work in. I thought it would make the otherwise boring drive fun and something to look forward to. I was right. My favorite features are the sunroof, including its shade, the manual trans and the stereo. The car handles well and gets a lot of attention. My commute is 50 miles each way and I always get at least 30 mpg. It is a mix of country roads, boulevard stop and go, and freeway. On the highway I get 32-36, depending on my level of enthusiasm. I've had no problems after 14K miles and wouldn't change anything about this car. This is my 3rd Toyota. I suppose because it is under priced, it is compared to lesser cars. Fair enough. It's good no matter what.
More Bang for Buck
Great car at a steal of a price. Handling is great; can take sharp turns quite well at higher speeds. Gas mileage is good; I get 28 (combined) while owning a cold air intake. Comes standard with cruise control, alloy wheels, sunroof, audio controls in steering wheel, automatic power windows on both sides, outside temperature gauge, ABS, keyless entry for automatic. If you enjoy attention for strangers this is the car to own; I always get looks from all types of people.
Good Car
The scion does have the problems mentioned in other reviews such as easily scratched paint and a little rattling and sealing issues. I recently had a problem where my parking brake light goes on and off even though it is completely down. However these are minor issues. I got a cute, sporty car that I can afford and I feel good about the Toyota reliability. I've never had any tire problems but I would watch those bumps! They'll get the under-side of the body before they'll ever get the tires. Overall, a very good, reliable car that gets compliments.
Putting Fun Back into Driving
I just got my tC three days ago and really like driving the car. We have a Toyota Sienna as the family car and wanted a small sports car to drive when only one or two of us are going out. I do not think you can beat the tC for value. It has great equipment and is very solid. My sons are over six feet tall and find it very comfortable. There is no sports car with as much leg room in the back seat.
Cool Car
I love my new tC, it looks good on the outside as well as the inside, it runs good, and you can add a lot of cool features to customize it to your liking.
Highly Recommended!
It was between the Civic and the tC, and in performance on the road, let me tell you this guy rocks for a 4 cyl. Got the Bazooka sub from the dealer, and it produces an OK amount of bump, but you can certainly get a lot more for the money with an aftermarket one. The only thing I really miss is automatic headlights. It's been a month and 1000 miles later, and I'm really pleased with my purchase! I highly recommend this car for anyone not wanting to spend a lot of cash for a lot of bang!
tC Needs Improvements
This car is fun to drive and has good horsepower. It has a lot extras inside. The outside has nice a design and smooth edges. The performance tires are a plus for me and it handles great. Why did they put in such cheap materials for the dashboard and the door panals?
Great car!
I have not had any problems so far with my tC. I am currently averaging 27.5 MPG which is great since I drive a mix between highway and city. The car rides very smooth, and gets going really quick. The look is classy yet sporty. Lots of room in the back for people and storage. Headroom for rear passengers is the only problem I could say.
It's not bad
Bought the car in March 07. Haven't put a dime into it yet, I love Toyota's. Probably won't ever own anything but. I like the car over all, but for New England driving it isn't to practical. Has never failed me, but I would definitely like to see improvements in future generation tc's.
For the money...
I couldn't find a half way sporty car for under 20 grand until this came along. It's bland yet cute and has some nice amenities like the glass roof and MP3 output, mp3 CD player - woo hoo!
30k and still going
Been driving this car for over 3 years now and still love it. The only problems that I had with the car are the HVAC lights would go out when the headlights were turned on and tires wear out pretty quickly. (To fix the HVAC light, you had to resolder the T302 transistor legs on the HVAC circuit board.)
Very nice car
I have had no problems with this car at all. I bought it 2 months ago and already have 4000 miles on it and the only thing that has gone wrong is a clutch cable had to be adjusted because I tried power shifting it a couple of times. It is a great buy for the price. It doesn't jerk out of any gear, you just need to learn how to drive a manual. The clutch is a little touchy but once you get used to it, it's awesome. You can put the power to the wheels in an instant.
Love my car
I bought my car for myself for my 18th birthday and I love it. I was debating between the tC and the Civic but once I was in the tC I knew I had to have it. I love the radio controls on the steering wheel and the whole design of the car. I have to agree with some reviews here that say it is a little hard to stay under the speed limit with this car =). I have had a few tires issues with this car. Had to replace 2 in about 2 years but overall i am extremely pleased with this car
The Best Car To Buy
The Scion tC is not only a good looking car but it is very fuel efficient and also low in cost so it's perfect for everyone.
Some Serious Design Flaws
Sunroof rattled badly from day 1, as did wind deflector. Very irritating with no fix offered at dealers. Service bulletin recommendation may/may not work. Dash is stretched too thin and can see undergrid - appears wavy. Got worse after about 3 months. No dealer support for problem, yet seriously reduces value of vehicle. Ride is a little stiff and road noise is almost intolerable. A little higher profile tire on a 1" smaller diameter wheel might have done it.
Good Car To Buy!!
I just bought this car and it is amazing! It drives really nice, it looks cool and it is very comfortable.
Great car for the price
Great car for the money. This car is actually heavier (at nearly 4,000 lbs.) than my Saab 900. It handles and performs well for its weight/power distribution. Cargo space is wonderful but you wouldn't want this car if you are a 6 footer. First gear is very high and the clutch does not engage smoothly in low gears. (first and second). Mileage is good but not great in this day and age. I consistently get 30 mpg. The material which covers the dash board was warped on the passenger side from new. Scion refuses to honor this as a warranty issue. No biggie.
Scion experience
Love my scion, bought it brand new upon trading in a toyota celica 02, have never had any problems its holds up to the rigid expectations of the toyota name. Tires have air pressure sensors on them which are too sensitive for the CO climate but otherwise the car is reliable fuel efficient quick comfortable and has maximized its space. Would like to see a more classy interior vs the plastic dash etc but after adding window tint and a spoiler the car looks sweet. The tires (yokohama stock) were extremely pricy when time to replace. otherwise no complaints.
Saved by Second Sunroof TSB
I was extremely pleased the first 12 months. However, for the past 4 months, a a sharp clicking rattle-like noise started to occur and became increasingly persistent as time went by. It took literally 8 visits to the dealer before the problem - faulty sunroof construction - was detected by me from researching tC noise rattles on the web. Upon hearing that there was a Toyota Service Bulletin (TSB) on the earlier models at a tC Owners Blog, I showed the article to the dealer. He then advised that there was a second TSB that I qualified for, and after I left the car with the dealer for 2.5 days, I got a completely new sunroof - all new glass and rails. Now, I'm in "heaven" again.
the tC rocks!!!
I loved the car ever since I saw the concept back in 2003. The styling was what caught my eye. I had wanted one ever since they came out, me and my babe went to test drive them and I knew I had to get one, so funny cause we test drove the tC cause of me, and my baby beat me to it and bought it before me, I bought mine a month later. This car surpassed by far all my expectations, everything about the car is great, the styling, the standard features, the comfort, the quality of the ride and the crafting and materials, and the economy, all around the tC is a winner!!! if you want to have a good sporty experience go for the 5 spd manual.
'07 tC = Great Value
I'm 18 years old and this is my first new car. I was been driving a white '98 Ford Explorer for six months before I got this car. So obviously I don't have an enthusiast's experience with cars. I can still say though that this car isn't a Mercedez-Benz, nor an Infiniti G35, nor a BMW Z4 or whatever it's called. The quality isn't even close. However, it's a great car for the price. All the features are nice and the fact that it has a nice list of standard features is what made me get the car. Just don't get it in the black...or else I'll have to start a crazy rumor like the paint corrodes if you get a black tC. =-)
Decent
Bought the '07 right when they first started hitting dealerships. Fun to drive, I4 is peppy, gas mileage is not so great. Highway driving is noisy and high RPM once you get over 60. The Z rated tires that come with the car are unnecessary and wear out instantly. Despite its weight and FWD, car handles snow & rain poorly. The double din radio is great for aftermarket head units. Huge sunroof is cool, but rattles like nobody's business. Doors rattle, rear hatch rattles. Buy the accessories online, far cheaper. 2-in-1 floor mats are nice. Seats scuff easily, not very comfortable. Car is a pain to clean because of body shape. Blind splots a plenty. No telescoping steering wheel. Long and heavy doors.
Out of the Wrapper a BEST BUY!
In true light of the topic, this car drives very well. Out of the wrapper this is hands down the best bang for the buck. I own a 5spd tC for 1 year and18k miles, and I find the acceleration is adequate, handling is nimble, top end is good. Brakes are adequate though I occasionally wish there was NO fade. Fuel economy ranges from 22-30+ depending on how spirited you drive. I notice a slight difference with the 92 octane gas (here in NY) but at $3.30+ a gal save the money and go regular (89 octane). The seats accommodate you well, though on long (4hr+) trips I can appreciate more comfort. I often travel alone, but with one passenger, two if you include my 100 lb. German Shepherd.
Extreme Value and Flexibility
What an awesome combination: Toyota quality and total flexibility in options and accessories. I had to "trade down" from an expensive sports coupe to save some money and I thought I would have to settle for some dinky econo box. But I'm so happy with this car I wish I had traded for the Scion long ago. I think the Scion idea of packing a lot of features into the base car and allowing the consumer to pick and choose what accessories they want is THE way to go. I didn't have to overspend to get the stereo system I wanted in this car. I got exactly what I wanted and the value is much better than the Honda Civic, Nissan Versa, and Mazda3 that I test drove and compared it to. Go get one!
I love my Scion tC
I compared several other cars before deciding on this one. None would give me the initial "umph" on takeoff I like (within my price range and MPG I need) except the Scion tC. It doesn't have a bunch of bells and whistles, and it would be nice if it gave me more mpg, but I love driving this fun car and it didn't break the bank.
My Scion experience
The handling is exceptional in corners, and the feel of the road you get in the wheel is exciting. The inner design of the vehicle when you look out immerses you in its whole driving experience. Though I'm usually distracted with all the buttons and plentiful doo-dads, sometimes I do realize that I am driving, and possibly should stop playing around with it. The car is so much fun to drive, what I described to you is a day-to-day occurance. I don't think I could have picked a more tailored-fit car to my needs and get more than I expected for a very fair price.
Great Car - Very Happy!
I have had this car for one week and I am very happy with it. I had a very hard time trying to decide between the tC and the 2007 Honda Civic Coupe EX. I think I made the right decision. The tC just seems to have more character and also has more toys than the Civic. Yes, I gave up some gas mileage, but I currently have a short commute and I think it is worth it. If a long commute was an issue I think I could have chosen the Civic and been happy with it as well.
An alternative review
I'm 2,500 miles into my 2007 Scion tC and I can say I'm pretty happy with my purchase. Most reviews tell you how great the car is, and for the most part, they are true. It's a pleasure to drive and looks great. Not to be negative, I just want to take my chance to inform readers of the flip side. Don't get me wrong, I love 95% of the car, but to offer more insight to prospective buyers, here are the things that irk me: the sunroof cover is cheap. It is made of flimsy canvas and mine broke and came off the track the 2nd/3rd time I used it! Black interior shows every little speck, nearly impossible to keep looking clean. A/C vents aren't placed well, it's hard to get air to blow right on you.
By far my favorite!!!
This is my favorite purchase ever! I was looking for something smaller and a little sportier and I couldn't be happier. It has just enough cargo room and I'm surprised at what I've been able to fit in the trunk when I put the back seats down. The doors are nice and long which makes it easy for people to get into the back seat. I have to say that I'm really happy with the amount of interior storage spaces and cup holders, my friends and I use my car to go everywhere and we're always comfortable and we have a lot of fun. The only thing I miss about my previous car is the automatic headlights. When I first bought this car, I kept forgetting to turn the headlights on and off.
problem
Love to ride in my car. Only one problem I have had my car back this time being 5 time for the same problem, the molding in the hatchback keeps falling off.
Excellent Value!
Little did I know that after comparing many value priced cars, that I'd pick a Scion tC. First off, I didn't know that Scion means "Decendant" and that it's a decendant company of Toyota. Once that was known, and I had read many GREAT reviews for the 2007 Scion tC, it was time to go test drive one. I traded in a much more expensive sports car on my new silver Scion tC, but it was done for a lower monthly payment and insurance costs, better gas mileage, the ability to use Regular unleaded gas, etc. My first thought when I sat in the driver's seat and closed the door was "Man! This car is built SOLID!" And it is. It wasn't anything like I was expecting - cheapo quality - NOT here! It's a Toyota!
It just LOOKS nice
I bought my Scion after 2 test drives and I liked everything about it, the look, features, performance, price etc. However I was disappointed when I began hearing squeaking near the radio and rattling all over the place. After just 7 months I had a problem with a fuse. When I turned on my headlights all of my interior lights would turn off, my car was pitch black at night. Another big disappointment was the weak AC. It blows mildly cool air on the coldest setting. This car has heavy doors and paint that chips/scratches easily. I have to say that aside from all the imperfections the car is pretty decent on gas mileage and the sunroof is a good feature. I guess you get what you pay for.
Great Car for the Money
I just bought this car a few weeks ago. So far it is great in almost every aspect. The highway gas mileage seems low though (only 28 mpg so far) I am hoping that it gets better. It drives great and is a great compromise for practicality. I am not excited about the low treadwear of the tires.
Great car
I bought this car because I liked the style and it was cheap. I've had the car almost a year with no problems at all... all the talks of rattles and squeaks almost turned me off to the car but I've yet to hear anything.
Nice and Sweet
I love this car. I have had it for 2 years. The only thing that I have found that I do NOT like is that I have had to replace 3 tires due to nails. The funny thing is that it came with Bridgestone tires and I have replaced them with Kelly tires and have had NO problems with the new tires what-so-ever. That can get a little pricey. But all in all i love this car and it doesn't do bad in the snow either.
