Used 1996 Nissan Maxima SE 4dr Sedan Consumer Reviews
THE BEST
A 4 DOOR SLEEPER
Reliable and affordable
I purchased the car in early 2000 with 48K miles on it. I have only had to replace mostly maintenance items. I had one of the three O2 sensors fail ($90), knock sensor($150), and AC fan motor($can't remember). Everything else has been maintenace. I am very pleased with the car. Mine is a 5- speed manual and it has good pick-up for a larger sedan.

The Best Car I've Ever Owned
I bought my '96 Maxima SE new in Sept. of '95. It rides very well, still gets very good gas milage and the engine was the best of its day. Smooth and powerful, I have 116,000 miles, much more than I've put on any of the many other cars I've owned,(and two other friends with the same car have 110,000 and 175,000 miles respectively) and I cannot seem to part with it. I just bought new tires so I won't have to face that for another year or two. I don't know if the new ones stand out among their competition today as my Maxima did in '96, but I'm glad I chose my first Nissan back then.
Great First Car
My first car and I love it. Bought it with 113,000 miles and no problems so far. Everything in the car is solid. When shifting, 1st gear has a distinctive lack in power, but after that, it pulls like crazy. Fuel economy isn't as good as I expected, but the performance makes up for it. One thing I wasn't expecting is using premium fuel. I tried regular for a while and I ended up getting worst fuel economy and performance. Now I always use premium.
A GREAT Car!!
With 120,000 miles, no problems still, and incredibly smooth ride....I love my Maxima! Whenever someone gets in it, they always compliment how smooth the ride is. It has a lot of power too!
