Used 2005 Nissan Altima Consumer Reviews
Good Car
I bought my Altima as a demo with about 3K miles on it and 4.5 yrs later at 110k miles I havent had any trouble with it. I had to replace the battery and the brakes which are normal maintenance. The car is very dependable. When I wash it it shines up just like new!
Very Disappointed
I bought this car brand new and it did great until I hit the 4th year and then everything fell apart on it. I have had to replace both sensors $400.00 then the transmission went that was another $4000.00, six months later the tranny mounts. and the engine mounts. and the Alt. another $900.00, I really love this car as far as style, gas mileage, but everything else, forget it. I had always bought American cars and always had problems so I thought I would buy a Nissan and I wouldn't have to worry, I will never buy another Nissan again, and by the way none of these items were covered.

New Car On The Block
I just bought my Altima and love it for the most part. The Navigation system is great, even though alot of roads dont exist (according to the NAV). Strange how newer roads are on it and mine that has been here 6 years is not! ABS not being standard is just plain stupid! I found that our the first day I had the car. It was raining and i had and emergency stop and the car slid a long way but I did get stopped. Why is it that my Hyundai I own that cost 15,000 has 6 airbags and the Altima only 2? Guess Nissan doesnt care for our safety too much! Squeaks shouldn't exist at only 1500 miles! My gauges are what is making the noise.. Cheap plastic!
Don't be fooled by looks
My new Nissan is in the shop at less than 4,000 miles. The gear shift assembly needs to be replaced and I am told with getting the part from Nissan and shop time it will be approx. one week. Reading another review I see it might be longer. I was unsure of Nissan reliability when I purchased this car but was impressed with the looks. Looks can fool you and I no longer have the confidence in this car that it can outlast my payments. I am trading it off before it comes out of the shop. Look hard at this car before you buy.
Performance meets Daily Driver
I was looking for a car with a good kick. Looked at both 2.5 and 3.5. Just do yourself the favor and get the 3.5. Smooth ride and it itches for you to floor it. After 8000 miles, no major problems. Easliy does the daily commute and equally able to handle a good run out on country roads. Being 6'5" its one of the biggest interiors avaiable in a sedan. It easily holds my 6'2" brother behind my seat. For those with a racing side, this car can be easily modified to get more speed and handling for this car.
