First off, I bought my B-Class used with 10,500 miles for approx. $22k (after taking into account my state tax credit that applies to used electric cars that haven't been titled in my state) - had I paid full price, I'm sure I would consider the value much less. That said, for an electric car, it's exceeded my expectations. The interior and cargo area are roomier than other similar options and it has the Mercedes look and class. The visibility is amazing with few blind spots though I agree the ventilation could be improved and windows will fog on rainy days unless you continually run the system. While I was nervous about actual range based on others' reviews and some fast driving by myself when I first acquired the car, I've personally found that if you drive somewhat efficiently you can easily make it 90-105 miles on a full charge if you include a good chunk of highway miles in the trip - just this weekend I drove 68 miles round trip from Denver up to elevation in a few different locations in the foothills and back and still had more than 40% of my battery left. I was impressed. That said, battery life significantly reduces in the cold, esp if you turn the heater on. Then I expect no more than 55 miles to be safe. The only down side is that you feel every pot hole and bump fully. No, I won't use this car for long road trips but I knew it wasn't ideal for that going in and couldn't be happier with this car.

Used Car WARNING

As MB’s first real attempt to put their metaphorical toes in the shallow end of the EV pool...not too shabby. As MB explores the deeper end of the EV pool by putting out a new larger SUV, I suspect there will be quite a bit more attention payed to this model as it’s product line ended in 2017. As interest rises, supply drops, prices will likely NOT drop quickly or MAY actually increase...for those that value a luxurious EV (for a EV), the MB brand, and a relaxing daily commuter. This is a really good car; but unfortunately, not a really great one. First, the obvious. If you’re already researching EVs, then you probably already know the lack of a quick charger option. From my understanding this was because MB used an ICE platform and there was not enough room to add a second (quick charge) port. Let’s set the record straight. There is absolutely no competition with this car among EVs with similar ranges. Some may want you to think that BMW’s i3 is the obvious competition. That is not true in the slightest. The i3 IS a really good car... if you’re interested in a futuristic appearing, 1000 pounds lighter, marginally quicker, flighty handling EV on the highway due to its rail thin tires. So you see, the i3 targets completely different demographics than MB’s small EV. The other comparisons like, the Nissan LEAF, VW e-golf, Ford Focus EV etc. etc. also targets completely different demographics. So, the MB EV is in a league of its own. So the good stuff is that it’s a short range luxury EV with absolutely no competition. Although the listed range is 87ish, to add insult to injury, the real range is around a 100 miles due to the way Tesla configured the drivetrain and battery. There’s lots of literature about that, so I won’t bore you with the details. Now the not so good stuff. There are things like a rear camera that much cheaper EV’s have as standard equipment is ONLY an option with the MB EV! Don’t assume anything when purchasing this EV. Make sure every option you want on a car is available. The base price of this EV when compared to an i3 is about the same. But like Tesla’s model 3, options can drive the cost of the vehicle to nosebleed heights, quite a few EV’s are NOT what many consider “fully loaded”. Lastly, buy an extended warranty, no such thing of a cheap Mercedes when it comes to repairing them!

3-kid seats across solid electric

Was looking for a safe, solidly built electric with modest range for a short commute and weekend errands that could substitute for the kid-hauling minivan in a pinch. Prior to purchase, I did extended test drives (1 day or more) of the Nissan Leaf, Prius Plugin Hybrid, Fiat 500e, and BMW i3, plus a short test drive of the Ford Fusion Energi -- and the B-Class was the only one that satisfied all our criteria. Comfortably fits our 3 car seats in the back seat, including an infant car seat which is not especially narrow. Surprisingly roomy trunk -- unplanned stop at IKEA and was able to haul away a dining table, bench and a stack of pre-assembled chairs; able to throw a bike in back. With seats up, can easily handle a standard grocery trip or light trip to Costco. Unlike most other manufacturers, MB offers a standard 4-year bumper-to-bumper warranty which makes buying used a bit more reassuring. Unlike most other compact electrics, has a solid, quality, luxury feel that you would expect from MB and feels safe at highway speeds. 85 miles on a standard charge, extendable with the extended range option. Recommend getting one with the paddle shifters to easily adjust regenerative braking while driving . Only gripe is some of the display tech and navigation feels a bit dated (more like 2008 than 2014).

Wonderful bargain as a used car purchase

Back when my 2014 B Class Electric was new it retailed for $49,000. It was leased to the first owner, I suspect at a much lower valuation. This is one of those "compliance" cars build by manufacturers to earn ZEV credits in states like California and few others. This includes Maryland, where mine came from. The range is about 85 miles, more or less. On the coldest day it gets 62, or days in 60's it claims 100 mile range. It's all electric and takes 3+ hours to charge, so this range has to work for you. But if it does, you have a wonderful car. They can be had used for $18k to $25k. Produced from 2014-2017. The B-Class vehicle is sold widely in Europe with petrol and diesel engines, but this electric model is the only one ever sold in the USA. The design is very sophisticated, with lots of attention to detail. The umpteen-way adjustable memory seats are excellent, head and leg room is ample, ease of entry/exit is perfect, large cargo area, nice rear seat legroom. Tech includes Bluetooth, USB, Blind Spot Monitoring, some sort of basic collision avoidance (the car beeps and reduces power if it thinks you're about to hit something), great back-up camera, mine has the Harmon-Kardon stereo which sounds really great (and I don't usually pay attention to car stereo sound). This is my first Mercedes and I had to have several repairs done under warranty, so long term reliability is unknown. Hopefully the simple electric drivetrain (from Tesla, by the way) will sidestep a lot of typical Mercedes headaches. This is a wonderful car, and as of May 2019 there's really nothing quite like it. Perhaps the Bolt, but you'll pay more since they're new, and the seats are supposedly awful. I had a Gen2 Chevy Volt, which has great tech, but not as much storage, a little slower, much more cramped back seats, and very awkward entry/exit for my stiff old bones. Riding in the Mercedes feels like a special treat... every day! And as a 2nd car, it has about twice the range I actually need most of the time.
