An enthusiasts SUV.
I bought this CX-50 primarily because I enjoyed the way is drives. I actually look forward with eager anticipation to taking the car somewhere. However the car gives up the comforts and cushy ride in the trade for satisfying handling and control. The icing on the cake is the near premium interior.

Brake problems
We purchased this vehicle brand new with 5 miles as daily driver, wife and I work close to each other we carpool due to long commute. It's a very nice SUV Zircon Sand Metallic looks nice with terracotta interior. It was all good until I reached 47,000 miles. I have long commute to work 40 plus miles one way so I put lots of miles on vehicle mostly highway driving. Started having brake problems with both calipers leaked brake fluid $1,000 repair. Passenger seat got rip on the side bolster, low speed when driving on parking lot vehicle is bucking it's pretty annoying, when I am driving on parking I just keep the vehicle in manual mode 1st gear it does the trick. B pillar started coming apart there is slight gap on driver side. I had tailgate on occasion malfunction it would open half way and stop there was oil seepage inside tailgate dealer clean it off and said we could not replicate the problem. I highly recommend if you buy this vehicle get extended warranty otherwise you will be paying out of pocket for the repairs Mazda dealership nor Mazda USA don't care about customers.

Puts the Sport in SUV
I bought a 2023 CX-50 Turbo as an interim vehicle while waiting for an EV pickup truck. The local Ford dealers checked off the no-go box for the F-150 Lightning by jacking the price, just because they could. Now, I'll wait to see about a Silverado EV in its second model year. In two months I've taken the CX-50 on two long 9-hour road trips, with a fair amount of commuting and running errands. With 5K miles on the odometer, I think I have a good feel for the pros and cons... First off, I really enjoy the performance of the turbo engine. At full throttle it sounds great and it purrs at 75 mph. In Soul red, the car looks great and it has a nice stance with its 20" wheels (more about that later). Almost everything written about the interior and exterior design is true (very nice). As has been reported by others... the steering feel is extremely subjective. It's more like a sports car and can feel "darty" until you get used to it. I find that it only takes pressure to keep it pointed down the center of the lane. It's almost as though you need to overcome the centripetal force of the wheels to change directions. All in all, I'm getting used to it. On my last long road trip I averaged 30mpg, driving as I normally do (keeping up with the traffic), I put Premium+ gasoline in on the return trip and felt the added power - that seems to come on even smoother. OTOH, I only achieved 28.2 mpg. Relative to comfort - no complaints. I am pleasantly surprised at how good the radio sounds (I typically stream Pandora from my phone), and the cargo room is plenty good for my needs (I still have a Chevy Colorado for hauling larger items). For the cons... I hate the steering wheel, it has a very sharp radius right at the point (no pun intended) my palms rest on the wheel. What's wrong with a nice, meaty, round steering wheel?? I also dislike the lane keep assist as it does little to help keep the car centered and produces an annoying shudder when close to the shoulder lines. Not great. For many, the ride quality is too stiff, and it is for some road surfaces. For me, it's about 70/30 (love/hate). I love the way the car handles, and it's a dream on smooth roads. It really falls on its face on concrete surfaces, and the odd highway that has been paved over a concrete surface - the expansion joints WILL drive you crazy. All in all, I'm glad I bought the car. I got a decent discount and a 2.9% finance rate. I could have paid cash, but why bother with a rate that low? A very good car for car guys and gals. If your tush needs cush, you may need to shop elsewhere. Why have Americans gotten so soft?!!!
Solid Comfortable Very High Value Quality Car
I have the premium plus model in a very attractive metallic white with black leather interior. I paid list price which was about 37K. Very comfortable but firm ride which I prefer.Adequate power in sport mode.Loaded with excellent electronics. Will cruise all day at 90MPH. Reminds me of my BMW 750.Highly recommended !
