Cannot change radio stations while driving

An annoying feature of this car is that it does not allow you to change the radio station while the car is in motion. There is no knob to change the station and the menu interface for that function is locked out while the car is in motion. By trying to be to smart the car is actually simpleminded.

Drove it for a whole week in the Rocky Mountains

I was giving this Mazda 6 as a rental for when I visited Boulder, Colorado area. I drove the vehicle for 5 days and hundreds of miles in the twisty rocky mountain roads, and also drove it over a 5 mile unpaved rocky trail access road. The professional reviewers were not kidding when they said the car handles like premium sports sedan, the turning is precise, the rolling is minimal, the suspension is firmer than many other family sedans, and it just feels very confident in the twisty roads. But it only applies when road condition is optimal, ie. having good paved asphalt road. If you want to visit some hard to access trail heads, you'll be driving over very rocky unpaved roads, with lots of gravel, lose rocks, dirt, mud etc.. And that's when the Mazda 6 is not gonna cut it (just barely made it with lots of sweat in your hand). You'll definitely need an AWD vehicle with high clearance to be able to comfortably drive on unpaved roads, the Mazda 6 in this instance feels super bumpy, un-controllable when driving on lose gravel and rocky roads. A few other area that the Mazda 6 lacks is cabin refinement, cabin noise, and engine acceleration. The engine accelerates very slowly due to an under powered 170hp engine, it does get really good mpg (over 38mpg to be exact) on the hwy. The cabin definitely feels a class cheaper than some other competitors (Honda/Toyota) and the included media control is cool to look at but not really intuitive to use and especially when you need to save a favorite radio channel. The cabin is also very noisy when the speed is above 30mph, and there is some unwanted buzz/rattle sound that I was never able to find out the source. Another major annoyance is that the A pillar in front of the car blocks a majority of road view, and there is barely any space to put a windshield smartphone mount to use your phone as the GPS, because of the angle of the windshield, and the amount of clearance there is between the windshield and the pop-up LCD display. The trunk space is very spacious however, and there are some useful side organizers in the trunk to help get things tidy. The cup holders are also a design failure - It was unable to hold any drinks or bottles larger than 16oz. Overall, if you want a family sedan that also have some "driver's car" quality, you should consider the Mazda 6. But do keep in mind some of the annoyances that I've mentioned when you go test drive the car. FYI I personally own a honda accord v6 EX-L that I based my comparison on.

Do your homework before buying a Mazda!

This 2016 Mazda 6 Sport was a replacement of a 2014 Mazda 3 with manual transmission. Shortly after buying the Mazda 3 had less than 100 miles, the issues started with rattling in the dash. This got worse with every month. At each service at the dealership in Spokane WA, I mentioned about the problem. Yes, they recorded the problems but nothing was done to make it better. After moving to another town in WA, I took the same Mazda 3 to another Mazda dealer and service, where they saw my record of complaints. This time the service manager and I went out on a 100 mile trip. His verdict, "it's not only the dash rattling, it's the whole care." After some time and dealership phone calls with Mazda Corporation, they got me into a brand new 2016 Mazda 6, sure I had to come up with extra money. Just after one month I heard some weird noises from the front, got back to dealer ship. They test drove the car, and came back to me saying "the driveline on left side is bad, it has to be replaced". After this the dash noises came back, again all has been recorded at Mazda. Then in early 2018 the tires Yokohama was worn out...… I only drive highway and had about 35k miles, no warranty from tire manufacturer nor dealership. Fortunate I had replacement tires at home. Next issue, the shocks! They are all worn out! Front and rear are all leaking! Dealership won't do anything.... have had several calls with Mazda Corp in California without any results. Will I buy another Mazda? NO! Would I recommend Mazda? NO! I am so disappointed with the quality of the brand and Mazda Company.

I regret buying a MAZDA 6

I bought a 2016 Mazda 6, I have about 40k miles on it and I regret so much buying this car. Sure it's reliable, and gets me from point A to B, but there are so many better cars for about the same price. The Infotainment is worthless and the main beef with this car. Bluetooth is not all that good and takes forever to connect. The built in music player/MP3 player is literally the worst media player in the history of technology. It's impossible to navigate through the artist directory as it is so slow. If I want to go from AC DC to ZZTop it will literally take me over 40 minutes to do it because it's that slow in loading . But once it loads it's good right? No, because it is constantly simultaneously unloading what it just loaded so it will always feel broken. So scrolling back over names it just loaded will cause it to lag and nearly crash. Open an album with only 20 songs and it will take a few minutes to scroll to the last song. Not only that, you won't even have access to your library for at least 10-15 minutes as it boots up. Voice recognition doesn't kick in for some reason for about 20 minutes until after you start driving, and trying to use it early will crash the system. How do you know it's ready? You don't. Now deal with all this frustration while you're driving to work everyday. You don't nee that headache. I have called MAZDA so many times about this over the past 2 years, and they just don't care. This is something that should have been fixed with a patch over the weekend, but here I am, 2 years later writing this review. Also driving with the front windows closed but the rear windows open will make your car SO noisy and shake. It's the weirdest thing. You can do so much better with a Honda, Toyota, Ford, Nissan..etc

Wonderful car for off interstate highway touring

Basically,. the facts in this review remain the same. I have had the car for 4.5 years now and it is running well. The pros: wonderful miles per gallon, very comfortable, smooth ride, great trunk. We have had some great trips in this vehicle. I was going to trade up at three years, but we will keep it longer. The cons: poor navigation system (no live traffic data, search data not ranked on proximity), not for speedy accelerators. Note that the car is geared for optimal performance between 45-60 miles per hour. If you are looking for a car that is designed to cruise on the interstate (at speeds of 75 miles per hour or more), a different make should be on your list.
