2009 LS460 AWD

Have owned the car now 1 year and 4 months and vehicle continues to exceed expectations. Handles great and on recent roadtrip to Michigan driving around 75-80 averaged 26 mpg. I have about 24,000 miles and have averaged exactly 20 mpg since owning the car. Drove in snow and icy conditions and also ran into a snowstorm on way back and the AWD is amazing. Put car into snow mode and you don't even know the weather is bad. Navigation is great and simple and you can enter the phone number of the destination and it takes you to the business/home without inputting any street, city, etc. Auto parking works well; yet, is slower than doing it yourself. Excellent Acceleration and feel for road.

Leased the LS460. Options "Sport Package", "Luxury Package", "Convenience Package" Considered Jaguar XF Supercharged, Infiniti MS56, BMW 5 Series. Everyday I can't wait to get into the car. Up go the windows and so long to the outside world. Radio on and wow I am in a dream space. Comfort, quiet, styling of the Sport LS is fantastic, big wheels, great lower styling kit. Interior is beautiful. Just close doors gently and motors close them the rest of the way. Heated and cooled seats, a brake hold feature so you can stop and remove your feet from the pedal during a long signal. All seats are comfortable with ample head, shoulder and leg room. It's a keeper.

Easily the best car I've purchased. Easily. As other reviews have stated, this is reliable luxury for less! Keep in mind this is the Lexus flagship sedan, with MSRP's close to $80k when new. Because of that, Lexus has invested/added a LOT of features as "standard in this vehicle". I test drove a 7-series before this which had more features and a much livelier V8, however a horrendous ownership experience that would likely have come with it (high maintenance, high repair, horrific resale value) would have followed. The LS460 is by far the quietest, most comfortable vehicle I've ever owned. Whether it is cruising on the interstate or navigating through downtown traffic, this vehicle isolates you from the world, it actually makes commuting a pleasure! The terrific Mark Levinson surround sound system is worth the upgrade and tuned precisely for audiophile pleasure! The quality of the leather, the interior and the trims are all well thought out. It is a spectacular ride; test drive one and you'll see what I'm talking about! What to look out for? Control arms are an issue for 07-10 LS460's with repairs costing over $5k. This is a well documented issue, and was resolved in 2011. Also note with this vehicle, maintenance costs more (it takes 9 quarts of oil for an oil change). Other than that, there is a great network of supporting Lexus dealers to service this, though you can have it serviced at your Toyota garage for cheaper (same stuff, really). Again I can't say enough, best car I've ever owned. Sporty when you want it to be, serene and dreamy when you need it. Driving should be an experience, not a function, and this car fulfills that so well.

Having had Mercedes vehicles for 25 years and being tired of all the problems I decided to switch to the Lexus 460. What an incredible vehicle. Not a single problem with the new car. Took it in once for a routine check and the service dept. was unbelievably nice. The all wheel drive let me drive on some recent ice and snow as if the streets were clear. This truly is the best car I have ever owned.

Luxury and Reliability for Less

This is my third Lexus LS, following a 2001 and a 2004 LS 430. Honestly, the two earlier cars were much quieter, as if powered by a huge electric motor. The driver's seat was more comfortable and its cushion extended farther forward to support under my legs. (I am 6'3" tall.) Other than that, the 2010 is a much-improved car. The motor has direct injection at very high pressure and it idles like a diesel - very noisy, especially compared to the earlier two cars - but the horsepower and torque are much greater. The optional adjustments to the transmission and suspension change the character of the car, unlike in other premium cars. Reliability is a luxury in itself - this car never breaks. November 14, 2019 - This is an update of my earlier review of the 2010 LS 460 L AWD. Just turned 230,000 miles. There have been some expensive parts replaced, e.g., air suspension struts, transmission control unit, engine mounts, but overall the car has been very reliable and the cost of scheduled maintenance and replacement parts has been far less than the price of a new LS. Always garaged at night, the interior looks nearly brand new and the exterior paint is marred only by rock chips. Every feature, from the electronically-retractable sunscreens for the rear window and rear passenger windows to the adjustable suspension and transmission to the cooled and heated seats to the power-folding side-view mirrors, still works without repair. I take it in every 5,000 miles for tire rotation and scheduled maintenance, always with a free loaner. This is my third LS since 2004 and the ownership experience with Hendrick Lexus could not have been better.

The LS 460 L

This is the first Lexus I have ever owned as a car collector. The LS 460 L has much bigger back seats than other Lexus models do. When you drive around you feel like your in an S550. You would think this car would have like 14 mpg. but this car doesn't. The GPS always comes in handy but now I don't think you could call a GPS a luxury feature. So remember, S550 vs. LS 460. LS 460 wins.

Have been a Mercedes S class and Cl owner for 25 years. Can't afford either any longer in this economy. Looked at the E class, XJ,XF, and BMW 550 (no interior storage). Passed a Lexus dealer and went in. Saw a great looking car, went for a test drive. Never left B4 leasing the Sport LS, it has every option and package that Lexus offers. The Sport suspension gives great road feedback and cornering ability. The Sport transmission gives amazing shifts and power. The body cladding, fabulous wheels, summer tires, and interior make this car something special. It is " Purrfect." Always thought a Lexus was a " Grandpa " car. Wow was I wrong!!

Unbelievably smooth and quiet operation. It has legroom to spare. I rate a car by adjusting the driver's seat where I want it to be when I'm driving and then getting in the backseat and checking out the legroom. Haven't had it long enough to rate the mileage or maintainence. We bought it as a Lexus Certified Preowned vehicle so we have two years of factory warranty plus we purchased an additional three years. We should have bought one of these years ago. Nordehl Unbehaun at Lexus of Knoxville will meet your needs and then some. He was fantastic to work with and finding something to meet our needs. It’s now 9/7/2018 and the car has performed flawlessly. We’re currently on a road trip and are averaging 25 mpg. We have had no regrets on this car purchase.

Wrote a review a few days ago. Just further information. My loaded Sport LS listed for a little over $78,000.00. A comparable S class would be $115,00.00. A fully equipped 7 Series would be a little less. While each car has certain advantages over the other, the Lexus is an amazing bargain. The build quality, features, and comfort are as good as you can buy for any price. If you ask, the dealer will give you completely free service for 4 years as well.

I bought this car with 18k miles on it in 2014. Now have 70k miles on it. Pros: Very quiet, comfortable, quick acceleration, great handling for car this size, reliable. Cons: Brakes warp easily, navigation system is horrible, $130 oil changes at quick change places, navigation update was about $300. I owned 2001 LS430 before this that was more comfortable, quieter, smoother ride and more solid feeling. The 460 is faster and has 2 engine air filters and thick robust brake pads that last a long time. This is a great car but the LS430 was a bit better in my opinion. I enjoy Lexus reliability and now own 2013 ES350 also.

This is the fourth new Lexus that I have owned. The first was an LS430 and then we bought two GX470's (one for me and one for the wife). This 2010 LS460 has been a joy to own and drive. I have almost 140,000 miles on it and have NEVER had a problem with it. It cruises at 80MPH across the desert in Nevada and yet is flawless in its fit and finish and comfort. I can get as much as 27MPG on the highway even going faster than the speed limit. It still drives like a new car and I would not hesitate to take it cross country at the drop of a hat. It performs well in the snow (with my Blizzak's of course) and handles as well on dry pavement as it does when it is raining.

Lexus/Toyota continues to impress my family and myself. This is the primary car my wife drives. I drive a Mercedes S550 (brand-new) and I cannot express the disappointment I have had after spending over $110K. I have brought my Mercedes back to the dealer over 6 times since I took ownership. Lexus? Zero problems, zero trips to the dealer except for scheduled maintenance. My other family member has a BMW 5-series. Unacceptable reliability.

This car seems to have a hidden performance side. Those who own one no what I mean,( shift, down shift, punch it...whoooooaa!) I have embarrassed quite a few "sport cars" [( grin )] I quite agree with most of the 5 star reviews. I cannot find a reason to replace this car! I look for one, even compared it to the new LS 500, why Lexus would replace this V8 engine and not simply improve it...maybe...is beyond me. call me whatever but I will not spend upwards of 80k for a v6 anything while this LS exist and by the way, the gas mileage is unrivaled by any other large luxury car!...what's not to like?

FIrst, this car is big. Get ready for 9.5 quarts of oil when you do your oil change. Second, the car is so smooth, so quiet and handles like a dream. I have owned Mercedes, BMW and Audi. This car is my favorite. While Mercedes and Audi beat it in handling as far as responsiveness goes, you'll fall in love with the luxury ride. The reliability after years of service is 4-star. Having spent a fortune on European car repairs (recently even. You would think I had learned not to buy German makes...oh well) this car is worth every dime for the peace of mind and the beauty of the drive.

I had 2 Mercedes and in the rain or snow I felt I was in a death trap Mercedes was in the shop more then on the road . Handling of the Lexus 460 L AWD is truly amazing for such a large car. cost of maintaining the Lexus is cheap compared to the MB . . Even in the worst snow storms this car handled amazing even above normal highways speeds. Dependability OUTSTANDING. Rear passenger seating is spectacular (shame they cant make the drivers seat with vibrators :-)

I purchased my certified pre-owned 2010 LS460L in 2014. I also purchased the 19" factory Lexus wheels which really made the LS look much better than it did with the 18" wheels. It was my dream car that I really wanted after owning a 2002 LX470 for 10 years that I purchased in 2005. The LS460L is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned. My favorite features was the Mark Levinson sound system and the extended wheelbase. We drove to Louisiana in the LS and it felt like I was sitting on a nice leather couch with a steering wheel in front of me. I drove to Louisiana in my LX470 a few years ago and it was not as comfortable as the LS. I am tall and the LS460L is incredibly spacious for tall folks and a family of (5). I wish the LS had a panoramic sunroof option and I am surprised it was never offered. The acceleration was smooth and felt like a plane taking off on the tarmac. It felt like the car was floating the faster I drove. Most reputable car reviewers always speak negatively about the lack of sport feel and power compared to it's German competitors, but I'm not looking for a sport feel in a huge luxury sedan. I would buy something much smaller if I want a sporty driving experience. They also mention how the styling is bland compared to it's competitors, which I agree. Lexus finally stepped it up with the new generation LS500! The Lexus brand really needs to offer better wheel selections like Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz. The Germans seem to have the best optional wheel selections that look better than most aftermarket wheels. I sold my LS in 2016 and purchased a certified pre-owned GX460. Long story concerning my reasoning for selling it, but I plan to either buy the new generation LS500 or the LX570 in a few years when I can pick one up as a certified pre-owned. The LS460 is an excellent vehicle with solid engineering. You can't go wrong with this vehicle if you were thinking about purchasing it.

Nobody makes a better car. The only problem I've ever had with it is replacing a battery. The ride is superior. Indeed, the car is superior in every respect. The car is obsidian and absolutely beautiful. I would keep it but I'm 77 and will need a self driving car within the next few years. So I am buying a Tesla Model S.

I just bought a 2011 ls460l with 100,000 miles on it. It drives and feels like a brand new car very quiet heavy it's like floating on air. But yet very powerful. The interior is still immaculate, you can literally have a party in the backseat it's so huge, I've never had a car so beautiful. Whatever it might need I will do, I hope to have this car for many many years I don't get cars often. When I drive someone else in it they are in awe of what a luxurious car it is, I couldn't be happier.

I bought my LS460L 3 months ago. WOW! what a ride. I LOVE the cloud like ride with the air suspension, and also how quiet the interior is. NO outside noise whatsoever. AMAZING car and it has a rebuilt title. This car had front bumper damage and they totaled it. HMMMM did alot of research and the headlights did not even get damaged so not sure why they totaled. But, only 50k miles it was a steal. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way the doors shut on their own, the comfort of the front seats, the window sunshades on back window and both back side windows, the ease of exhilaration, the sound system. Everything about this car is class personified. I had a ES350 in mint condition and sold it so i can say i have a little experience with owning a LEXUS. I would recommend this type vehicle to anyone. Not the best gas mileage but comfort and luxury is important to me. I am a female driver and have owned 30 cars in my lifetime (Mercedes etc. This is the nicest one so far.

This vehicle is by far the quietest and smoothest riding vehicle I have ever owned. Even with the V8 I get 28 mpg on the highway. Seats are comfortable and supportive. The Mark Levinson sound system sounds great. The only downside is premium fuel is pricey, but it's worth it for the great ride and comfort. I love this car ! After driving for 6 months this car continues to be smooth and reliable.

I've had the car for a month just had the free 1,000 check up. The car has been great fun to drive a dream on the highway but the gas mileage has been low around 14mpg combo driving the only thing I don't like is the sound of the motor it is louder than I'm use to you don't notice it much in the car but with the window down you can hear the lifters tapping like a car that needs more oil. I'm told this is normal and others have complained as well. I don't love it but I'm sure I'll get use to it maybe I'm just sensitive. One other thing the cd player was not reading my cd's they said they put one of theirs in and it worked but I didn't see it I'll try some newer ones later so we'll see.

This is my 11th Lexus vehicle and they never disappoint. The quality of the vehicle and the personal service provided by the dealership are always tops. I have never driven a domestic car or dealt with a domestic dealership that even comes close. The other foreign brands that compete with Lexus are much more expensive and all have their drawbacks.

Performed regular maintenance at the dealership as recommended in the owners manual. Ride and comfort are exceptional and the motor provides some real get up and go. Exceptional visibility day and night. Handling and parking is very good. Passenger comfort and storage is superb.

the body lines are 360 degree perfect. the cloud like ride , no wind noise at any speed lets you enjoy the Mark Levinson surround sound like your in the lazy boy. doing well over the speed limit without realizing it. Moves and sounds like a big cat when pushed. Probably one of the best cars ever built.

Best Car I've Ever Owned!

Remains absolutely reliable and very comfortable. Best radio ever. Mileage now 107,367. Only expensive repair was replacement of front upper control arm bushings for which I was grossly overcharged by my Lexus dealer ($3000). Battery, wiper blades and tires of course have been replaced. I have it professionally detailed every 2 years. It looks, rides and handles almost like new. I have no plans to replace it. The price for a new LS 500 is about $30,000 more, if you can find one.

For being an owner of a 2008 LS600HL, and a 2010 LS460 the only words i have for this car are, "It's here for you". From switching from a S600, 750li, A8L, this has taken the cake not only in the reliability department, but in the looks, feel, and lastly the fit and finish. To keep any of the german ones I've owned, this one has not only saved me money, but has never let me down like the others. If i were to take time back, i would have never stepped foot in the german planned obsolescence dealers. You spend 6 figures on a model just to look out dated within months of the new one. which is usually minor aesthetic adjustments. Almost as embarassing as tesla is in general, if you're in the market for one, this will take care of you.

I purchased my new 2011 from the showroom, a big splurge and excited about having a top car! When we left that night for home, the car felt like it was getting a flat tire! This continued after 4 visits back to the dealer. Finally, I was told it was the tires (they replaced all 4) and that my car will have a bumpy ride every time I get in it for the first couple of miles and then some!! That is what I expect with a $75,000 car! A car that feels like I an getting a flat when I drive to the store. I have begun to hate this car and the dealer for not solving this problem, but making excuses. I will never buy a Lexus again and plan to trade this in for a car that feels good to drive.

The NAV system is much worse than the 430. To push a button on the screen you have to press the screen and then release the finger press before the system acknowledges the button press. This effectively doubles the amount of time it takes to enter an address. There is a knocking sound that is an inherent design flaw. The sound is caused by the fuel pump. The dealer repair shop at first pretended they couldn't hear the sound. Then they admitted it was a design flaw they couldn't rectify. De-contenting is a term that means the manufacturer has removed features that used to be there. This model has been decontented from the prior 430 in many ways.

I was tired of the problems and expense of the Audi A8 and switched to the Lexus, and I am very happy about it, more comfortable, at least as nice to drive, and quieter. And I can expect it to be more reliable.

I traded my 2002 LS-430 for the 460. The older 430 seemed much more of a luxury car in style, roominess, and feel. The gas mileage on the 460 is awful and exterior style is not distinctive enough to set it apart as a luxury car. It looks like a car costing $30-45K rather than the sticker $76K .
