Bought it for the looks
Update for July 2018: Having now had the car for a year, I can say it gets better over time. I absolutely adore this car as a daily driver and road-tripper. The highway mileage is so good it seems fake. When cruising in Eco mode I'm easily getting 30 mpg. This doesn't even make sense until you realize the car can switch between Atkinson and Otto cycles. The engine scream never gets old in Sport+ mode. I just can't get enough. Sometimes I switch to Sport+ just to pass people with that crazy loud noise. After a year I expected to have buyer's remorse, or a wandering eye for the Mercedes AMG GT. Or the Porche 911 Carerra. But no. The LC 500 is a car that just grows on you and still turns heads. It's the supermodel you can actually live with everyday. *** Outstanding visual appeal inside and out, with disappointing acceleration. Go for the bespoke option, even though it's a 3-month wait. Neither the touring nor sport packages gives you the correct combination of options. Here's the combination you want, starting from bone-stock, in order of importance: 1. Limited Slip Differential (LSD), 2. Convenience Package, 3. Heads Up Display (HUD). Done. All other packages and options actually worsen the car's performance. Or they package excellent options (like the retractable spoiler) with unnecessary ones (like Variable Gear-Ratio steering). Basically you want the LSD to correct the flaws in the drivetrain. The stock, active, rear open-differential loses too much horsepower at the wheels. The LSD is mechanical: more horsepower, more traction. With the stock differential, you have to pay attention when you're kicking the tail loose. It's still fun, but the LSD gives you +HP +control. No-brainer option there. The Convenience Package gives you parking assist. You must have this. The dimensions of the car make it difficult to park. Parking assist will save you, again and again. Get it, save your body work, make parking garages your best friend. Option 3, the HUD, is just plain cool. It's actually an unintentional safety feature, keeping your eyes focused at near-driving distance. It even shows the song you've cued up from your phone via Bluetooth. After engine break-in, get the dealer to fix the rev limiter to 7,300rpm. It's limited to 7,000rpm off the lot. Peak horsepower is at 7,100rpm so the rev limiter is ruining the fun. Oh, and don't get the hybrid, seriously. You'll regret it. The 33% savings in mileage is not worth it. Just get a Tesla or a BMW i8. Pros: The looks, the sounds, the textures, a fantasy for the senses. True opulence. The car looks twice as expensive as it costs. Ride quality is Lexus smooth. Excellent steering feedback, in bone stock configuration. A masterpiece of emotional driving, makes you want to drive forever. Cons: Slower than a Roush Mustang 427 because the LC 500 drivetrain is not designed for performance. Handles like a Challenger SRT8 (it's that heavy). Costs more than a BMW M4. Out-of-touch infotainment controls. Why you should buy it: Honestly? Because it gives you the emotional response you would expect from a dream car. If you do not feel this way after seeing it then don't buy it. Simple. I personally would have gotten just as much raw driving pleasure from a Mustang GT. However, I have a transcendental experience every time I drive the LC 500. It just takes my breath away. Configuration reviewed: Black on black V8, Convenience Package, All-Weather Package, Touring Package, Heads Up Display.

Finest quality and most fun auto I've ever owned.
When the time came to replace my aging 2008 BMW M6 (V10) the LC 500 immediately caught my eye. My wife has owned various Lexus SUVs for years, and although none of them or their sedans are my cup of tea, the new coupe was something I had to check out. We have a long first hand experience with the exceptional build quality one can expect from Lexus. My first impression was "wow, gorgeous." And it is. I was hooked after the initial test drive. Very powerful, but much more nimble than the M6. It is a heavy car, like the BMW, but without the "boat" feel. The exhaust note, although not a Formula 1 sound like the my M6 (with aftermarket Tubi pipes) is deep, pleasing, and sometimes almost throaty like a muscle car of another era. I absolutely love the sound, which is pronounced in the high performance mode, more quiet in normal or comfort mode. I got mine with every available option, and I can tell you the 4 wheel steering is incredible. I used to hate traffic circles. Now I love to drive them. The LC hugs the curves like it is glued to the road. You can accelerate going INTO a curve (as well as out), no problem. I had to order mine from Japan because with all of the options, there were none available in the US at the time in Infrared paint upgrade. This is a special 5 coat paint that changes with the time of day and angle of the sun. Incredible. People stop by my parking space and take selfies next to my care. I could go on and one. I've owned a lot of automobiles in my life, and the LC 500 is my favorite. I am so glad I own one. Worth every penny if you are fortunate to be able to afford one.

Best high end Sports Coupe on the Market!
Ive owed just about everything and purchased the Lexus LC500 recently and had to write a response and review regarding my opinion. First, this car has some of the finest fit and finish materials and unique designs throughout. It is extremely comfortable to drive and more than enough power to enjoy flashing through the 10 speed and let me tell you the sound you can generate with 10 gears paddling up and down is superb! You could NOT find a more reliable or fun coupe for this money with any other manufacturer! If you've owned Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, Maserati etc... like me you know how much they cost to maintain! This car is bullet proof nd easy on the pocket book...do yourself a favour and consider the Naturally aspirated V8 to your collection, you will never regret it!

Had a Corvette Guy High-5 me!
I have been a Corvette guy since the 60's This car replaces a 2013 427 Preferred / 500HP. Virtually a ZO6 with an iron frame. This car is very fun to look at and to drive. I goes like the wind albeit not quite as fast as my Corvette. It is much more fun for my wife to ride in however. That's a Plus Plus Plus! It's almost embarrassing how many people say "nice car"! Yes not much trunk room, but it works. Yes not a legit back seat, but works. Yes the pad control for display is dumb, but works. Yes it is a little spendy! This is one of the nicest cars I have owned in 60 years!

Love My LC500
This car is a work of art. Its hard to get in/out of, and holds not much storage, but once you're strapped in, you wont want to leave ! It's a joy to operate and performs well under multiple personalities: in comfort/normal you slink around like any other respectable lexus, behaving yourself; in sport mode, look out, the beast is on the loose, and in sport +, things get a little scary. Granted its not a 911 but who wants to be a hard ass all the time. This thing is pure driving enjoyment, so get ready for a purely emotional response to driving it: it's fantastic ! Better start saving up. UPDATE: this baby just keeps getting better and better the longer we go along; pure enjoyment, not a whimper of a concern, ethereal sound pipes engineered by yamaha! there's no other car like it period; its the closet thing you could imagine to a perfect ride. get one before they're gone !

Extreme Fun
This car is in a class by itself. Is it the fastest no, best handling no. However, it is fast and handles amazingly. It is one of the best balanced cars from a luxury, performance, comfort and handling perspective. The quality of materials, fit ad finish and attention to detail are on par with or exceeds that of cars costing much more. My car is infrared and the paint work is extraordinary. Part of my career was spent in the auto industry and allowed me to drive as personal vehicles many different brands of new cars. This car is the best all around performance GT vehicle I have had the pleasure to own or drive. It sure doesn't hurt that it is stunningly beautiful to look at. Along with an interior unmatched in design, detail and quality this vehicle makes every ride beyond enjoyable. While the touch pad infotainment pads takes getting used to it is usable. You can avoid using it by using the excellent voice control for heating, cooling, media, navigation and most things you need every day. In a couple months I will have owned it 3 years. Still in love with car, usually tire of car by now. Pure enjoyment driving it. No problems since new. Would highly recommend.

Turning into a great love affair
I bought the car about four weeks and 1600 miles ago. Bright red exterior and light tan interior. Includes all options. Beautifully designed and I get compliments everywhere I go. Drove the car from Dallas to Austin and back first week. Driving 80 I get 27 mpg. In town I get around 20 A great cruising automobile. Very quite and smooth, until you hit the throttle. The beast comes alive. What a great sound. I have had quicker cars. The Audi s6 was quicker, the Porsche 911 handles better at full speed but neither of those cars compares to this. This car is much more comfortable to drive in town and on the highway compared to the other two.Great stereo. Fit and finish is outstanding. This coupe had returned the joy of driving.

Livin a Dream
After driving Lexus sedans for years, I gave into that impulse to drive something that is just a thrill. This car is a head turner. It’s comfortable to commute and it’s more than a Tesla. Thanks Lexus for making my dream car 4 years later nothing on the market that looks better and costs less to maintain than this car. May never trade this one in

A Must Purchase as a Luxury Sport
Just an amazing vehicle. As a Mark IV owner and a GS owner I was waiting for the new Mark V Supra release. I decided after a thorough evaluation of the New Supra versus the LC 500, to keep my Mark IV and purchase the LC 500. The correct choice regardless The success and hype of the new Supra. This car is amazing. Be prepared for the attention the car gets, when you drive it, until you park it. It even gets attention at the dealership!! I have never went to the OEM’s service department and had people from sales to service, to include marketing asking to photograph an automobile they sale! The drive is special. The power, absolute. Interior is palatial in comfort and appointment. The technology impressive. It’s a total package. A five tool athlete in the automotive market. That looks like a super-model! Thank you Lexus. You have definitely flipped the narrative of being boring. Your effort with the RC was a great attempt, your LFA an outta this world success that is mostly unattainable. Then you go and get the combination of greatness and attainability correct? Way to go!

The stance and sound are 2nd to none
I traded in my beloved Nissan GTR have 5 years of excited simply because I was tired of getting beat up every time I wanted to do a quick jog to the store, not to mention the brake squeak finally got too much. After tons of research, I could not find a sports coupe that offered power plus luxury at around the 100k mark. This car has it all!!! A awesome interior, check, power to spare, check, agile driver focused handling, check, check, head turning styling, triple check, and an exhaust sound I can only compare to a Shelby 427. Throw in a ride quality similar to any other more tame Lexus, and you cannot best the value of the LC500. And to get similar marks from other luxury sports coupe, like the AMG GT, be prepared to pay twice as much. I see this being my garage kept baby for many years to come!!!

Supremely Impractical and a Pleasure to Own
Fantastic car. This is a car to drive solely for the pleasure of driving. It is very responsive, sounds awesome, and turns heads. Touch the accelerator and its off to the races. It is a totally impractical car, gets terrible gas mileage, has limited trunk space, and is the best car that I have ever owned. I wish I would have been able to buy one earlier.

What a Special Vehicle
Best looking and touring car I have driven or been in. I prefer the handling of a car over a SUV, my wife prefers the height and comfort of her SUV. When ever we use to go somewhere together she would prefer we take her Cayenne over my GS F-Sport. Now it’s let’s take the LC! Truly in a class of its own in the touring coupe category. Long on luxury in and out and even the feel of the relationship between the car, driver and road is luxurious! Yet the sound and performance of the naturally aspirated V-8 still confirms what you see getting into this beauty, that it is a special and rare beast.

Can't stop smiling
It drives and feels as good as it looks (mine is red) Its sleek, responsive, and just plain fun to drive. Don't expect to use the back seat for anything other than storage, but the front seats are roomy and comfortable. Nice acceleration and power that could get me into trouble if I'm not careful. I appreciate the safety features, especially lane assist as the assist is gentle, and love the automatic low/high beam feature. I also appreciate the remote start although annoyed after paying this much for a car that after the first year I have to pay to keep that and other features. (one of my favorites is the car location feature) Also find it odd that with using remote start it actually turns off when I enter the car. I don't recall previous cars with that feature doing that. Final frustration that I hope Lexus hears is the entertainment system. I think they could have done better. Final thought - don't buy this car unless you're comfortable with attracting attention and having strangers take pictures of your car and approach you to share their appreciation for such a beautiful car. 2 1/2 years (and 20,000 miles) later I’m still smiling. No issues (other than the fuel pump recall that occurred early on), still enjoying the looks and constant compliments. Wouldn’t own any other car

Fast and comfortable
It’s more comfortable than the german coupes that cost 30-50k more. you can wake up neighbours in a five blocks radius and hear almost nothing when you have the windows up. people who drove lexus and all major german brands will know what I‘m talking about. Even its rwd and weight pretty heavy on paper, it still handles like a small coupe. You will be speeding without noticing it because the cabin is so quiet and you don‘t feel the road. people who has carplay, siri will works a lot better because its so quiet.

Brakes are terrible!! and getting worse
I complained about the brakes a year ago as I was one of the first owners of the LC500. They are definitely getting worse. The brakes squeal on a consistent basis which I am told is normal by the dealer. In addition, I have had to take my car in multiple times. Apparently, my passenger side rear wheel starts squealing to the point that the vehicle cannot be driven. The diagnosis is that a rock may have gotten into the wheel??? So the same wheel had a rock dislodged 3 times in a matter of 6 months. I have been driving for 23 years now and own 2 other vehicles--this has never happened to me. Yet, somehow I managed to get a rock stuck in the same wheel 3 times in a short amount of time??? Oh, one more thing, I barely drive this vehicle in Northern VA and never go over unpaved roads. In short, Lexus needs to address this issue ASAP...its embarrassing!!

Eye Catcher
A great roadsters! You never want to stop driving it.After owning the car for 4 months I need to update my review. I wish I saw other reviews about braking squeals. Just took it in for same squealing front breaks at stops. For a 4 month old car with 3900 miles Lexus states they are aware of problem but does not have fix. A$100k car with this issue known but not solved is unacceptable. Also was informed a recall on fuel injection system is coming but no replacements parts at dealers yet. Owners have not gotten notice yet, only dealers. BEWARE, Lexus does not appear how to build high performance vehicles yet. We are trial owners.

Great Job Lexus!
I test drove the LC a couple weeks ago, and I must say, it was quite the experience. I could just imagine myself sitting in the driveway and just listening to the rumble of the engine. Just knowing that it was going to be a fun ride to work that day would put a big smile on my face. Lexus has done a great job with this car! When it comes to sports cars, there is commonly an area where you have to compromise in while enjoying the dominant features of the car, but not this time. Just sitting inside the car, you feel like it was made just for you. Very comfortable with all controls easy to access. You don’t feel scrunched it at all. It’s a very welcoming, personal feeling while you hear the rumble of the engine. While the engine is very easily heard from outside the car, you don’t feel overpowered by it from the inside. And when you give this thing gas, it’s like a comforting, yet powerful push forward. It’s like the car just screams dominance while just waiting for you to unleash the 471 hp under the hood. Although others have posted complaints with the brakes, I only heard one squeak noise as I entered the street from the parking lot, and then nothing else over the hour and 15 min test drive. In fact, I was very impressed by the braking system. Very responsive and did an excellent job slowing the car down at high speeds. As soon as I’m able to, I’ll be purchasing one for myself.
LC 500 sport + (2018)
All around an excellent car (except a not perfect infotainment system), close to perfect.
