I spent several months researching vehicles before finally making a purchase. I was focused on a mid to large sedan that would be very comfortable for my long commutes, that would get at least 25 MPG, FWD or AWD, and that would LAST for at least 200K miles. The final list was the 2013 Audi A4, 2013 Hyundai Azera, 2013 BMW 328xi, and the Infinity G37x. After driving and pricing, the G37x and BMW were eliminated. They were simply under-equipped compared to the others at the same price point. The BMW especially was bare bones unless you dropped another 10K. The Audi was eliminated for reliability (big issues with burning oil). After driving the ES350 I was in love. Not squishy at all.

I have previously owned three Lexus RX350s over the last 10 years. I traded a 2015 vehicle in on my 2013 Lexus ES350 and couldn't be happier. The Blind Sight Monitor is fabulous but not really needed because of the all around visibility from the driver's seat. The ride and overall convenience of the instrument panel shows it has been well designed. I have always said, "once you have owned and driven a Lexus, you will always drive one". My brother who has owned a BMW and an Audi just purchased a new 2016 Lexus ES350 after having done considerable considerable research. He is as totally satisfied as I am.

First experience with Lexus. Traded up from Toyota Avalon 2008. What a beautiful surprise. If you want the ultimate luxury highway cruiser, this is it. Looked at Mercedes, Audi even Hyundai. for around 40 grand, nothing comes close. Love it, One problem, my wife only lets me drive it when it needs gas

Great car!! Beware of wheels with respect ride

Great car, but beware of the wheels w/ respect to the ride. Most ES' come with the standard 17" wheel and rides like a dream. Quiet and smooth. If you buy the Ultra Luxury (UL) version it comes with the 18" wheels, or you can purchase them as an option. the 18" take a low profile tire and the car rides much differently. On the highway at speed you will feel a lot of the road coming through the cabin and may hear it too. Tires can help. Get the Michelin's over the Bridgestone's regardless of wheel size. the Michelin's ride that much better! If considering the 18" wheels make sure you drive a car with them. don't drive a regular demo and think it will drive the same. learn from me :)

Nebula Gray Pearl. Love this car. Just completed a 1400 miles round trip and it was very enjoyable all the way. 31 mpg around 70 mph. Second Lexus for me. slight improvement over the 08. Did cut some corners but not a deal breaker. Overall a great car.

A 30-year-old guy buys ES 350?

I just turned 30, and previously drove BMW 320, MINI Cooper and Lexus IS 250. As you can see, I am a typical young guy with some money to be spent on cars, loving sporty cars. I was looking to replace my IS 250 and was looking at GS 350 and Audi A6 at first. While searching, the new ES 350 came along. I wouldn't have even considered ES 350 previously since it looked just too much of a grandpa's car. The new styling got me. Comparing the three cars, I noted that ES 350 was the best bang for the buck. Yes, it does not drive like a sports car. For that matter, I like the new GS 350. However, it has more space and its ride is slick and balanced. Switching to Sport mode does help fun driving.

This is my first Lexus. I have an 08 Infiniti G37 coupe. I am very pleased with the car. It is quiet fun to drive especially on long trips. The navigation electronics takes getting use to and its true either love it or hate it. We love it once learned how to use it. The dealer was more than helpful with any questions we had. Since I am retired my wife and I drive rather than fly. We recently drove from Houston Tx. to Boothbay Maine. The car was a pleasure to drive we averaged 28 MPG! I would definately recommend this car. 2016 update. We now have over 39,000 miles on the car and the only maintance is a new set of tires. we have driven to Maine four times averaging 29+ MPG. No isues at all. Other than the required 10,000 mile oil changes no problems. BTW the dealer gave five free oil changes when we purchased the car.

I have tried many American cars due to patriotism for the last 45 years, now far less patriotic when coming across car buying. Then got fascinated with the name BMW, good drive and safe but the best avenue to bleed the pocket while visiting the smiling service people's territory at the dealership. For my daughter, we bought a Lexus ES 350 in 2006, over 105000 miles, but did only regular services, and riding is the same. One nutty driver hit her at the back but she was not hurt, the back side of the car was fairly damaged. When my wife wanted to jump back into some luxury car. I told her that she has to take the car for servicing since I am getting old; and so, buy a Lexus, thus I need to visit them far less durations. One day went to CarMax, the salesman was very friendly, she saw a red color 2013 ES 350, made the decision and bought the car. Smooth and firm ride on the freeway, at 60 miles average speed, we got a little over 33 miles/gl, even though the average is around 25/gl city/highway. In my younger days, I got a made in Japan fountain pen ' Pilot" which lasted for years. The quality superiority of any Japanese product is unbeatable. They are great in high quality and long lasting car manufacturing. I am stuck up with Toyota name, and for luxury ride, LEXUS.

2013 CPO

Was looking for an 'owned' CPO, not a leased one. Found a good deal 400 miles away. So happy w/ this car. I was coming off of a 4 cyl. camry that I owned since new, for 17 years. So, I was ready for a nice retirement car. This one only had 31k on it when I got it. Now only 32. I'm officially a Lexus fanboy now. Was in the plan to eventually get one after I retired. Where I used to sell was in rough neighborhoods, so ppl were constantly running into the Camry. Not places I wanted to drive a nice Lexus. Wish they'd have kept the CD changer. Many nice options came w/ this. CPO is the way to go. I could have gone new, but the hit is large in the first 3 or 4 years. .9% financing was the cherry on top. Why pay cash when there's basically free money. I guess I'm a deferred gratification type of guy as I could have easily done this many years ago. Compared to the 4 banger, this is a rocket. lol

Wonderful fit and finish, ergonomics, sound system, great dealer support, I bought a certified, and the maintenance and warranty support is outstanding. Velvet smooth ride, styling fit and finish. I would say the ac is only average, window tint factory could be better, gets awfully hot in summer when parked in the sun Nobody really addresses the problem with the front being so low you are constantly worried about scraping or messing up the front bumper, a real problem, as well as the low profile wheels. In this respect a real down rating for this otherwise great automobile. Fortunately I bought a wheel tire warranty, but have already ruined 2 tires, and had to refinish one wheel., at no cost. The wheels are 1500 apiece so better buy it.

My Lexus Experience

In March 2013, I purchased a new ES350 from Sewell Lexus. My reason for choosing this car is that I typically drive my cars for 8-10 years, and the utmost priority for me is reliability. I was assured by Sewell’s salesman, Maury Erbay, that I was buying the most reliable car on the road. He told me about a rare circumstance with another buyer who was unsatisfied with the maintenance history of his/her Lexus and how Sewell made it right. 6,569 miles, August 2013 Upon leaving the car at the airport for 4 days, the car was dead. Roadside assistance came to jump the car, and I drove the car to Sewell. It was Sewell’s opinion that nothing was wrong with the car. 15,442 miles, March 2014 Upon leaving the car at the airport for 5 days, the car was dead. A co-worker who had been traveling with me jumped my car. 22,101 miles, September 2014 Upon leaving the car at the airport for 4 days, the car was dead. A co-worker who had been traveling with me jumped my car. 27,452 miles, December 2014 Upon leaving the car at the airport for 5 days, the car was dead. A co-worker who had been traveling with me jumped my car. 31,000 miles, March 2015 I am a conservative driver and not a “hot rodder”. After 31,000, my tires needed replacing. Based on the price of the car, it was rather shocking to learn that it was sold with tires that would be shot at 31,000 miles. 33,808 miles, June 2015 Upon leaving the car at the airport for 4 days, the car was dead. Roadside assistance came to jump the car, and I drove the car to Sewell (exasperated by the complete unreliability of this car). I was told that Lexus has “just learned” of a problem with the Gateway ECU, and mine was replaced. The service representative told me that I had not been notified of the fix because it had “just been discovered, in fact subsequent to my last oil change at 30,000 miles”. I did some research on the internet and found that Lexus had identified the problem for other owners in 2014. I asked myself many times why there wasn’t a recall for this issue, but it appears that fixing an issue that causes its customers to be stranded isn’t a priority for Lexus. It is inconceivable to me that Sewell prides itself on service, yet they were aware of this problem and did nothing to fix it until I had been stranded again and brought the car to Sewell. Because of the multiple unnecessary drains on my battery, I insisted that the battery be replaced. Sewell resisted and finally agreed to the replacement only after a lengthy argument. 45,828 miles, April 2016 The car’s locking system failed, and the driver’s door actuator was replaced under warranty. 50,000 miles, July 2016 Warranty expires 50,200 miles, July 2016 Back seat begins to squeak loudly when no passengers are riding in the seat. 50,756 miles, August 2016 Air conditioning fails. Lights illuminate, but no sound from air conditioner is present, and no air came from the vents. As a courtesy, Sewell picked up the car but found nothing wrong with the air conditioner as it started for them. However, the fan was noisy and needed a new bearing which was replaced at no charge. 52,900 miles, November 2016 The car’s locking system fails again, and the passenger’s door actuator was replaced at my cost ($500 parts and labor). By now, it appears that the other two doors are likely to fail soon as the quality of the actuators in the Lexus ES 350 is poor. 53,400 miles, December 2016 A dull thumping noise quickly progresses from infrequent to extreme. While it sounds as if it is a suspension issue, the real issue is the sunroof rattling. This repair is projected to be a 3-4 hour repair job and is not covered under warranty. As is clear from the above, the car has been a maintenance nightmare. The reliability factor that was conveyed to me at the time of purchase has been completely non-existent. Never in my years of car ownership have I been stranded (and stranded multiple times) by any vehicle other than a Lexus. It appears that the maintenance issues are becoming more frequent. (One has to wonder when the last two door actuators will fail when two already have.) Upon discovery of the 52,900 mile problem, an email was sent to Sewell’s business manager (Cecily McClarin), Sewell’s service manager (Mason Kessner), and Sewell’s general manager (Dudley Haralson) expressing my level of unhappiness with the car and its track record of poor reliability. Based on the Sewell promise Maury made at the time of purchase of the car, I expected to hear from upper-level management at Sewell. Instead, I heard nothing from anyone. I am prematurely near the end of my Lexus journey (due to poor service and poor reliability) and am close to making a decision about which car I plan to buy next (clearly, not a Lexus). No one from Lexus demonstrated any effort to retain me as a customer by offering a trade on another Lexus at a discount in an effort to win me back. I leave as an unhappy customer determined to share my Lex

I have had my ES350 for just over a month and love it. I spent about 6 months research, test-driving and pricing some competitors. See below: - BMW328i: This was the best ride of all of them and fun to drive. BUT the AWD feels stiffer and the steering is less responsive than the RWD, similarly equipped to the ES comes over $50K, post-warranty reliability suspect, premium fuel only. Annoying stop/start engine. - Audi A4: Great quality but feels stiff to drive and cramped in the back. A little small. - C300: Great handling and style, but TOO SMALL and cramped - even for the driver, expensive repairs, premium fuel only. Annoying stop/start engine. Acura TL: OK but not luxury.

Review: The ES 350 IS BETTER than all the previous ES cars since the 1st one rolled off the line in Japan in 1991 , as a 1992 . It is 4 " longer ( back seat leg room ) gorgeous style that is now common to the GS and LS ( family resemblence ) front and back anti sway bars , with self adjustable shocks and struts . RUNS STRAIGH DOWN THE ROAD LIKE AN ARROW FROM THE BOW .. EVEN ON TILTED NJ ROADS . very powerful and 21 to 30 mpg on regular 87 octane . madnificant perforated leather , hot seats , climate control copied from the LS , electric steering , drive by wire , zf auto tranny , huge trunk , 1st class aluminum wheels.

Do your homework on the car you are interested in purchasing. My daily commute is 100 miles round trip 5 times weekly. The comfort of driver seat in my car turned out to be poor and I'll be trading it in soon. The car is difficult to exit for short legged people. The handling is good and the MPG is great but road noise is significant for a Lexus.

I didn't think I could afford the Lexus of my dreams but I was able to buy a certified Lexus this past month. I love it-- it's not new but I'm OK buying a certified Lex from a great dealer. Got a great deal from Longo Lexus. Now owned it 6 months and still as enamored with it as when I bought it. 2-1-2019 after 2 years, I still love this car! Best car I have ever owned. 2020 update- still love this car afyer 3 years of driving it! My husband now wants one, too. Now after 6 years, I still love it. I am usually bored with my cars after 3 years but still love my Lex.

I purchased the car from Toyota Naperville only about 6 weeks ago but so far I am very happy with the purchase. The salesperson was outstanding. He was extremely helpful providing reports of past maintenance , answering questions and providing us room to make a comfortable decision. The car is running well , looks good and I hope to have it for years. My past experience with a purchase of a new Lexus from Lexus of Naperville (a sister Compnay) was outstanding.

I’ve always loved Audi and was dead set on getting one but I absolutely fell in love with the ‘07 ES 350 the second I test drove it. Oh, and what they say is 100% true - now that I’ve had one, I’ll never go back. Now that I’ve had the ‘13 model for some time, I can definitively say that I like it even more. You save some money at the pump because it doesn’t require premium gas anymore. And the first thing I noticed on the test drive (other than the beautiful upgraded interior) was the steering. It’s tighter and definitely gives you the feeling of better control on the road. It’s a very very smooth ride. The seats are also unexpectedly comfortable. Even the backseat is plenty spacious enough for someone with long legs to sit comfortably for a long time. I just hit 115,000 miles and it still drives like new. If you keep up with them, they really do last forever. I would HIGHLY recommend the ES 350 to anyone in the market for a luxury sedan. IMO the best car in its class. It’s the most reliable. It’s just as luxurious as any other option, if not more. Not to mention, if you ever need parts they will be far cheaper because they’re Toyota - making the Lexus the cheapest luxury car to maintain as well.

After 20 years of my own business, and driving an 03 Accord, I deserve this, baby! And I am so smart, I didn't buy a similarly equipped Audi for $10K more! (no, I don't need to take corners at 40mph with my 7 year old, and have my own 'driving shoes'!), I wanted a car that said 'he doesn't need to carry a briefcase', and this was it. Quiet as a coffin, smooth as my head, this car says luxury. All the high tech stuff I like. Only gripe is that is sort of plain from the side, but very cool from front or back.

I have had two Lexus cars before and was very happy with them. DESIGN-The new design is Very Nice inside and outside. NAVIGATION-I especially like that large navigation screen - it is so much better than the previous ones that were smaller. RIDE-The ride is much more stiff. I think they were right to do this, it makes driving the car much more safe than the "cushy" ride that can be dangerous in emergency situations. POWER-Its good, but for this new car and more powerful engine would have been very nice. GAS MILEAGE-I am getting 22 mpg overall because I push the gas peddle down a lot.

Very disappointed for this ES350, it's 19km now. I bought it for its serene and comfortable reputation, this vehicle is not quite at lot. 1. The car vibrates when it stopped and the engine is engaged, the vibration makes me so uncomfortable that I have to switch to neutral whenever stopping before traffic light. I took it to dealer to check, I was told it's rotor's problem. I don't think that's the case because it vibrates also when I don't press breaker.

After owning five BMW 5 Series over a period of 25 years I finally made the move. I test drove the new 2013 BMW528X and it was wonderful. Quite an upgrade from my 2009 528e I was offering in trade. Then I visited a Lexus dealer and test drove an 2013 ES350. It was love at first drive. The steering wheel was beautiful. The overall feel matched the BMW. Performance felt easily as good also. The appearance is truly special. The BMW was the same old, same old ,although a little improvement . I guess I just needed a change. The fit and finish inside and out is perfect. The clincher was that it was $14,000 less, net of trade. I have always found my BMWs depreciated too much over 5 years.

I have driven Lexus for 2 decades since my first ride in a Lexus. My first two Lexus' each got 200K+ miles neither one of which EVER needed repair other than maintenance. HOWEVER, my latest, 2013, ES350, has been a major disappointment for me. The ride is so noisy, a normal conversation is difficult. This is due to the 18" low profile tires. And, I understand that I cannot, without replacing the rims, change tire size for a higher profile tire. I may as well purchase a new car, if I was inclined to buy another Lexus, if I choose to buy 17" rims. One cannot control the climate without concentrating totally on the screen (accident waiting to happen); blind spots are huge. The 45 degree outlook on the driver's side is nearly useless (unless one want to totally rely on the BSM (blind spot monitor which helps NOTHING, if one is trying to enter traffic at one's 45o angle); another accident waiting to happen. There is no monitoring of traffic over the driver's left shoulder due to blind spot. Opening and closing the trunk is a real pain when one's hands are full. I love the warm/cool seats and the mileage is OK. Navigation system is useless, PERIOD. (guess I'm used to an iPhone).

You will love it! In fact, I loved it so much I went out and purchased another Lexus, an RC300 Black Coupe. Both are awesome vehicles. Lexus is at the top of its game!

Really great car, bought it used with 25k in 2015 when I started my Graduate School as a present to me for my achievement. It is strong I drive close to 180 miles every day. Car has about 190,000 but it still drives the same as I bought it. Smooth as a whistle, one to describe it “M-AZING”. Bought it white pearl and it is still shines at night. Best car ever made. Fits everyone’s needs. Great for long distance travel and inner city.

Bought 2016 with 50,000 mi on it. Now with 204,000. Very reliable, only have to get brake jobs except the cruise stalk broke and I did replace the 4 tire pressure monitors ( $600). Very little breaks in this car though when it does relatively expensive to fix, $1850 for pads/rotors and one caliper this last time . Runs the same as when I bought it.

Lexus versus Camry

This is a good car but it is no better than the 2013 Camry XLE. Ours is fully loaded with premium Nav and prem. sound system. It is all leather and rides the same as the ES350. Our Camry has more chrome and tinted windows. It has remote start. Our Camry is loaded with every option available and has more features than the first two trims of the ES350. We rented the ES350 along with the Camry, Avalon, Accord and Altima. We drove each car 200 miles. We did this because we got burnt on a 2010 impala. In fact the Nissan Altima had the best ride and comfortable seats of all the cars we rented. They have Zero Gravity seats and they are the best. Just couldn't trust that CVT Transmission.

So I live in a Chicago but I drove to Milwaukee to buy the car. They came down $5000 on the car. I purchased the car on November 10th and it was snowing outside. I am sure sales were low and maybe the supply demand is different in Milwaukee compared to Chicago. The same exact vehicle was selling for much more in Chicago and the dealers in Chicago were not as willing to negotiate tot he price I was asking for.

THE LEGENDARY ES350!!!

The ES350 is by far one of the most reliable, dependable and smooth riding sedans since its inception! This is my 16th ES350(From 2006-2013 model years) and 2nd Ultra Package Trimline(I previously owned 2008 ES350 Ultra)of which I have been searching(2013) for over a year, but yesterday I found an immaculate conditioned one from a seller out of Tennessee. We meet in Atlanta and the excellent condition of the car blew me away!!! I love the Panoramic Moonroof, Mark Levinson Sound System, Rear Powershade, rear side manual shades, Front Driver's Seat Extenders and Silky Smooth Handling and Fuel efficiency! I have owned over 30+ Lexus models GS300, GS350, ES350, LS460.. The whole Lexus Brand is the best overall even down to resale value and a well kept Lexus regardless of model can get you 300,000K+ miles!!

Too many problems for this price point

Tom, 12/25/2022

Bought our 2013 ES 350 new in 2012. A great riding car, plenty of power. At 150,000 the transmission went out and was very expensive to replace. We have had to replace two window regulators, and now the sound system amp went out. Another annoyance is when you start the car, the amount of "notifications" that come across the screen with your backup camera - it reduces the available screen size and can be unsafe. You have to select "menu" with the push button, then use the mouse to go to climate, then turn the A/C on or off...too many steps. While a couple of these things are annoyances, the mechanical/electrical problems are unacceptable at this price point and expensive to repair.
