Electronic Nightmare

The electronics (entertainment and climate control) started malfunctioning the day I bought the car. Dealer picked it up, gave me a loaner and took car to fix it. It apparently needed a software update - seems like that should have been on the pre-delivery check list. Ok. A week later, the lower touch screen went totally blank. Then the two knobs that control temp stopped working. Dealer picked up the car again and apparently, the lower screen was bad and needed to be replaced. Now the radio source randomly changes and the climate control (lower screen) seems to roll through random levels of working or not - I am happy that I bought this in the spring and consistent heat or A/C haven't been needed yet. Car is going back to the dealer next week to see if the third time is a charm. Will be noting to the dealer that another problem will result in initiating a Lemon Law suit. The dealer has been great and I really couldn't say enough about their responsiveness which is very much in line or even exceeding expectations (which were high given the cost of the car). If it wasn't for this issue, I would give the 2019 RR 5 stars. I love everything else about the car. Unfortunately, I seem to be getting more experience with their loaners (none of which have had a similar issue) than my vehicle.

The car decides it will not start on a random basis. The key fob doesn't work. Has been back and forth to the dealer 4 x and they don't know how to fix it. They are no replacing the central computer for the car.The vehicle was purchased less than a year ago.

I was very happy with my 2010 and 2012 Range Rover HSE vehicles, they were beautiful, and drove so smoothly in all 3 areas of acceleration, braking, and steering. I cannot say this about the 2020 Range Rover. Furthermore, basic interior amenities and luxuries are missing in the 2020 model. DRIVE-ABILITY: -Accelerating...In regular drive mode, it shifts 4 times in 4 seconds going from a stop to less than 20 MPH like when leaving a parking space and just driving down the row. Each shift is noticeable in lack of smoothness and is entirely unnecessary. At this speed, in moments you will be pressing the brake and then it will downshift 4 times, so 4 upshifts and 4 downshifts in 8 seconds, that makes for a miserable experience. Even if you were decelerating and then at 25mph press the gas pedal slightly, it will very abruptly downshift and delay applying acceleration and then almost seemingly to make up for the delay, really aggressively applies acceleration. -Decelerating....when going about 12 mph, letting your foot off the gas and waiting 3 seconds, the car down shifts in such a pronounced way that it feels like the brakes are being pressed. There are two people driving this car - me and the transmission. In summary, apply the acceleration and deceleration issues together and that is what you experience in regular traffic, this car spends way to much time shifting up and down, and it is especially a problem when you are slowing down and then speed up, it gets really confused, and behaves very badly jerking the car. It is not a luxury smooth experience. -Auto engine off. The feature were the car shuts its engine off when you are stopped and have your foot on the brake, and automatically starts the engine back up when you take your foot off the brake pedal is not a smooth or luxurious experience. It is the opposite, the extra rumbling and shaking of the car as the engine goes from 0 rpm to 800 rpm and at the same time engages the transmission is very miserable. Also I've only had the car for 2 months now and two times it failed to auto start and I had to press the ON/OFF button twice to then get it to restart. I guess you can thank the EPA for this, but it is really ruining the smooth luxury experience. HANDLING: -The handling in the 2020 is not as tight as the 2012. In the 2020, under minimal breaking and turning, the body dives and rolls, this is especially noticeable, at low speeds. The 2012 handling was luxurious and smooth with very little body roll. The 2020 feels like it is heavier and higher from the ground, although apparently it weighs less. INTERIOR: -There no longer is a Sunglasses holder, or anywhere like an open exposed cuby to set them. I understand that maybe in re-engineering the roof they didn't have a natural place for it, but you can't just get rid of it, sunglass holders exist cars for a reason. Humans still have eyes and still wear sunglasses while driving cars. -The Glove box won’t stay open, why the heck would it be designed that way? You have two use two hands to hold it open while you try to grab something out of it with your other hand. -There is no visible accessible storage without having to open compartments which makes trying to put an item away or retrieve an item a real chore. Specifically people would have a phone and/or some other small item. Currently you have to put it in a cup holder, or open up compartments to put it somewhere and then you cannot easily access it. -The center console storage is awkward to open and is mostly behind your body, making it incredibly awkward to fully open it and then to place items into it or retrieve items from it. -The center console has a flat shelf under the armrest which is really useless and just becomes another barrier to just getting to the actual deep storage. The flat shelf under the armrest is really useless, it does not even have a lip around it to hold items in. Where do you even put a pen? It seems to have a sticking surface on it, maybe for a phone, but again, it is incredibly awkward to open the arm rest where your elbow is now behind your body, then lift your arm over it, to put a phone in and then close it. Horrible design. -The base of the seats no longer have bolsters on the side - they used to. So now there is nothing to keep you laterally in the seat. You legs will tend to splay outward and you can slide side to side in the seat. -The touch screen is slow to respond. Often you need to make a point to press and hold for a second just to make sure it registered your press. I've contacted Range Rover about this all and they just say that is the way the car is designed and there is nothing wrong with its behaviors. Ugh. The frustrating part is that you don't really notice the problems until you do a lot of braking and accelerating which you only do in rush hour bumper to bumper slow traffic which you don't get to test when at the dealership.

My new 2020 RR PHEV I bought on 6/18/2020 from Official dealer in Atlanta GA had engine light turned on when I came back home, still turned on after 3 times back to dealer service with changing different parts. Now has been at service 4th time for last month and they said that all this model cars in the world will be recalled for new hybride software that will be ready at the end of September 2020. 3 months after buying a new very expensive car, still stuck to service. Dealer said that JLR refused replacement because any car they replace will need the same software update all p400e models in the world will be recalled.

Beautiful car (2019 HSE), but their electronics are a nightmare. Mine has been back for various technology glitches 5 times, and it would be more if I lived closed up the dealer. Dealer has been fantastic, but it’s clear Land Rovers designers are too far in front of their IT folks. It’s a shame because the car looks great and drives nicely, but in all honest I’m counting the days until the 2021s come out for other manufacturers.

From day 1, the electronics of my 2019 Range Rover LWB have been off. Random warning lights, AM radio always playing at top volume on start up, screens not turning on, lethargic interface, should I continue. It’s been In the shop twice. “Oh, there was an update,”’only to the leave with even more issues. And today “cruise control unavailable.” What does that even mean. Clearly, LR over reached with their electronic play and I’m left with a 125$k vehicle I’d love to get rid of.

Do not buy any RR with the p400 engine. This is a black-eye to the brand that I was previously loyal to. Land Rover rushes this mild hybrid to the market & after multiple software updates, it’s still a huge disappointment to drive EVERY SINGLE TRIP.

I got new RR P400e HSE PHEV 2.0L since December 2019 and like to share my experience and impression. I used to drive RR Sport HSE Td6 2016. Its a grate car to drive with a good diesel consumption (25 mpg overall), but very noisy engine, and some problems with transmission. As a time to change a car came, I did my research, and decided to buy HPEV, to have the most quiet and fuel efficient RR car, as they advertised. I use a car mostly (80% time) driving in the city, so electric car could be more beneficial for my life stile. After two months to drive I can't confirm it. First, to charge at home plug-in battery in full takes more than 24 h (despite 15 h showing on dashboard). Second, full charged battery give you only 12-15 ml against 21 ml declared. Third, I drove almost 1000 ml allredy, and my gas usage is 14.2 mlg, to compare 16.5 mlg my sister's RR P400 HSE 3.0L car. Fourthly, this 2.0L engine is very noisy during a ride and in parking position. I would say, it the same like my previous 3.0l Td6 RR Sport, which was bother me a lot, and I cant wait to escape. In addition, battery is also producing unpleasant heavy noise during a ride, and after switch off a car. Lastly, I was surprised, there is no Passive Entry seats feature in my new $107k RR, which was a standard for RR Sport 2016 $78k. To summarize, RR P400e 2020 is not a grate car for a money, its need improvement. I can not recommend it, and will wait eagerly to the end of my lease. Best regards, George B.

It's incredible how this fairly large SUV handles like a luxury sports car. Every time I drive it I am blown away at the smooth ride, the perfect handling, and exceptional acceleration (supercharged V8) and incredible breaking. Simply the best! Cannot emphasis enough how perfect this vehicle is — that is if you're ok with average mpg's.

For a $100k car, the electronics stink! The radio loses "saved" stations, the navigation system is not user-friendly and it is very difficult to operate (unlike Porsche and BMW), and the air conditioning system is also a menace and impossible to "set" so that only the front system turns on (instead of both the front and the rear systems). The glove box design is dysfunctional, and the side pockets in the passenger doors are ill-designed for storage use. The car drives well, it has plenty of power, and the electric windows work. The transmission is fine. But interior design features are inept and, as previously mentioned, the car's electronics and control systems are extremely poor. The dealer doesn't care. I have 5,000 miles on the car and I will probably sell it next year and buy another Porsche SUV (perfection).

I had a 2007, 2014 which were very different. The 2020 P525 is bug free and a dream to drive. Not only is this a unique vehicle except for all the Fuji Whites most are unique as the combinations are endless. One thing I regret is having gotten the 22” rims, the wheels and tires absorb and transfer every decent size road defect / bump. However they look awesome! I definitely would go for 21” or 20” next time. Gas mileage is what you’d expect from a giant SUV. Seriously at this price point who cares about MPG it’s all about being unique, quality of finishes and feeling good. It’s a british world car, things are different the information system is designed for the world not the US. Once you understand the quirks it works well, and is unique. Ride has its moments - can be a bit bouncy until you throw it into a turn then it feels tall but never flinches. At least in RR you don’t look and feel like a soccer parent. Buy a 525 or Autobiography- you will be happy you did. UPDATE 122020 - Still zero regrets and get a lot of compliments. Note: 22" rims are so smooth you don't realize they are there (I retract that regret comment from the original review). I'm happy that 2021 is the exact same car as 2020.

I own the P525 HSE. It rides better then my S Class Mercedes. I’m not sure why everyone thinks this vehicle doesn’t measure up. Not only does it measure up, it beats them all. We drove to Florida and back and it was like we were floating on air. Great power from the engine and good gas mileage. I love this vehicle and my wife will not let me sell it. Actually, she wants the sport and is deciding what color she wants.

Range Rover is the worst most unreliable car—ever. While the car looks great in the show room and on commercials, our engine blew and needed replacement with less than one year of in town/suburb driving by my 60 year old wife and was not covered by warrantee. You would be completely crazy to buy this car.

Zero % for 72 so I went for the works. $140k later this truck is amazing. I love its physical presence and that not everyone has one. I had to fight to get 5% off but did and home delivery. InControl setup took a while as the dealer needed me to press the Wrench button but did not tell me. Done and now it works! While I had X7 this vehicle is superior in so many ways! UPDATE: Remain very happy with this decision. Have an InControl gremlin "HOTSPOT NOT FOUND" and Google Maps images never finish loading, but otherwise it's awesome. MPG on HWY @ 22 in CITY 10-12 but a vehicle at this price point is not for the MPG concious.

My 2020 Range Rover PHEV has been in the shop four times for red dash warnings of the electrical system malfunction. Three software updates and module replace has not rectofied the lurking issues. One never knows when you might get a failure notice,,,the word Russion Roullette comes to mind

The short of it....the 2020 RR was traded in for a Lexus. The detailed feedback: From the time we bought it in December, 2019, there were odd issues. The screen would periodically go black (service advisor explained if you shut off the car and come back within 5 minutes, it will do this!), however it would do this regardless of time between turning off and on, yellow check engine light on (told we could still drive it around town as it would take 1 month for the appointment), numerous updates every time I turned on the truck, interior lights magically would go on by themselves, low battery notification, passenger side of hood bounced up and down and looked like it would fly open (I pulled over while on the turnpike and other highways to push down), touchless key entry worked when it wanted to (I googled and made sure no coins or other items blocking), you had to lock the car with the key as you couldn't just press the inside lock button and shut the door and then there's the inconsistent electric charging as it could be anywhere from 20 to 28 miles of electric charge and it had a very sluggish acceleration. There was a service action Petrol Coolant pump operation notification as well. The most recent issue was an "OK to drive with caution Suspension fault detected" where I immediately tried calling the dealership (Land Rover of Orlando) and I could not even get anyone to answer the phone. This was Friday, 3/12, around 2pm. I tried Sales, Service, all the options for an hour. I finally found my service advisor's card and called and left him a message. As of 4pm Monday, I still haven't heard back from him! I had also texted him in January to ask if they took care of the Petrol Coolant Pump when they serviced it in December and never heard back either. The only thing good about this truck was the tax credit we received! NEVER EVER Land Rover again!!!

This car has been tested extensively in varying conditions worldwide. From city streets to mountain trails, the Range Rover SC performs like no other suv. Build quality is superb; the latest generation promises reliability and longevity, backed by Land Rover's exceptional customer services. The big Rover delivers comfort and confidence both on and off road. It's only caveat being the whopping price tag, the re-engineered Range Rover is simply the finest practical suv available.

My only complaints are that I can not get my seats set right. Road trips are miserable. I’m used to driving Porsche vehicles. The seats hold and support my body in a way that I never felt a 300 mile trip in my back and hips the way I do on the Range Rover.

I bought this SUV with V8 engine in 2018, now it has 24000miles on it, paid 144K, after 1.5 years drive, The handling is good, turning wheel is lighter than X5, space is good, very stable on the highway, S mode is NO any difference as eco mode, acceleration doesn’t feel very powerful, built quality is good, except navigation screen, air suspension make the ride quality better than most of luxury cars, BTW, I owned X5, Porches Cayenne S, I think Land Rover is comparable with its German rival, satisfied with it, and still love it

This new 2020 Range Rover Sport was purchased October 2020 the day after I retired. Four months later there was a failure with the rear spoiler. It fell off while I was driving. I took it back to Land Rover South Shore in Crown Point, Indiana. Neither the Service Manger or any one involved with this Dealership was helpful. When I contacted the North America Headquarters they said it was something I must have done to cause this. They even blamed the car wash business I have an unlimited membership with. I was able to provide still pictures from the business showing my vehicle as it entered and left the carwash undamaged. When I did a google search I found where similar issue with Range Rover spoilers falling off took almost ten years to resolve. I am highly disappointed and feel I have no recourse. I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this same problem.

The Range Rover Autobiography is an amazingly fine car. It has comfortably replaced our Bentley sedan. Power and comfort are terrific. With a satin red finish, it also looks terrific. 22" wheels and the shadow exterior package complete the dynamic look. The vehicle has a long lead time and a big price but you will get more than you paid for and will love the comfort and quality.

This is our 5th Land Rover vehicle. We have never been disappointed and keep coming back for more. Just when you think they can't make the car any better, they make it better. Our new Full Size Range Rover is a dream machine. We love it.

Ok from a guy that’s has been in and out of range rovers to bmw x7, qx7 mbz g and gls gle and even my cls. My 2019 supercharged is the best of the best, all the tech you need is here, just gotta use in control to get there. The only do I find is that bmw welcomes you in and says goodbye when you leave! For power performance and looks dam good. Hands down.

Comfortable Ride, powerful engine, technology could be better but I have been very happy with the performance reliability and ride quality. Has not let us down or been in the shop for anything outside of normal maintenance. Will be getting a 25 this year.
