Dead engine at 68k

We purchased a certified used 2016 Kia Sedona. We loved it but a mere 2 years in with only 68k miles on it, it died! Complete engine failure. We have had it maintained regularly through Kia. There were no lights or warning signs prior to this happening. We are out of warranty and Kia refuses to take responsibility for the crap vehicle they sold. We were told no loaner car is available because they are all out on major engine repairs. After charging us $95 to diagnose the problem they told us there is "no good will available". What kind of engine dies at 68k miles!? It's not ok! I will never purchase another vehicle from them again. Be warned.

Nicely surprized!

Have to have substantial strength to move second and especially stowing third row seats. A little short on interior lighting on controls, door unlocks and that sort of thing. Way back lighting not too good inside cargo area. Don't like the way the headlights automatically dim at very slow speeds (live in deer country!) The voice response (navigation, blue tooth etc.) seems slow. Salespeople at Crown Kia in Tyler were not at the top of their game. Make ready was poor as to clean up but that was probably partly caused by my husband rushing them. Salespeople replaced some things missing in car, like the removable light in cargo area and that was good, but why did I have to ask? I have driven (3) Lexus RX350's in a row before this Kia and so far am more satisfied with the Kia. I am long legged and the 2nd row seats (on tracks) are wonderful!

With small kids this is a dream. I previously had a 2015 Dodge Journey and I'll tell you what, the Sedona is a luxury ride compared to that. The Sedona has so much room, easy to get my kids in and out of car seats, the air conditioning works excellent in the back seats which is so important for me since I live in Phoenix, AZ. We have the 8 passenger, so we never need to have the rear seats up and that leaves up with a lot of cargo room. It rides smooth, handles nicely and is comfortable. My only complaints are, I already had one of the motors replaced on the rear sliding door. (mine is a 2016 with 18,000 miles) Without a warranty it would have been over $1,000 at the dealership I went to. Also, The sound system is beyond cheap.. totally poor quality & there is no navigation and no power lift-gate (which I feel should be standard on a minivan) All in all my husband and I were those people that said we would never drive a mini van yet we are both bummed we didn't purchase this before we wasted money when we bought the dodge.

Kia Sedona-top safety pick and most reliable mini

Bought a 2017 Kia Sedona LX plus in October 2018. Best vehicle I ever owned !!! The Kia Sedona is rated the most reliable minivan since 2015 by Consumer reports. It's also a top safety pick according to IIHS. A real winner ! The Sedona looks like a giant SUV , drives like a car and you feel like you're sitting in a tall pickup truck. The driver sits very high in this vehicle. The gas mileage in a suburban area like the South Shore of Long Island is about 16 MPG. 16 MPG stopping at a light every 1/4 mile -1/2 mile and stop signs every other block. Alot of stop and go driving and the mileage isn't so good. Get on the highway and I got up to 29 mpg on trips to upstate NY. Very mountaneous in NY. Getting 29 mpg in a vehicle this size is amazing ! I traded in a 2016 Jeep Patriot and the Sedona gets about the same gas mileage. The Sedona can tow up to 3500 pounds and I got the Sedona to tow a 16 foot boat and a 25 hp motor and alot of fishing gear. I also got it for camping trips ( the only type of vehicle you can comfortably sleep in the back ) and to carry alot of hunting gear. Roll the seats up and it's the most comfortable vehicle on the road. this car is very comfortable on long rides . I have the apple carplay and android radio. It's about 7 inchs wide. Excellent radio . Make sure you check the safety ratings before you buy a van. The Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Town and country have poor frontal car protection ( small overlap test ) and are dangerous. Go to IIHS.com and see the difference between the Sedona and those vans. The Sedona is way more safe ! The Toyota Seinna got a marginal rating. The Sedona is a top safety pick. The Sedona is the most reliable mini van since 2015, the Chrysler Pacificia has average reliability. The seats fold very nice and out of the way and are very comfortable. I have leather seats and the workmanship is very good. High class mini van. No complaints. It's the ultimate SUV and way more versatile than a pickup truck. I'm single and I thought about buying a pickup truck . A pickup is good if you work on a farm, tow 10,000 pounds or you work in a trade, but I didn't need a pickup for the things I do. I wanna tow a boat, carry hunting and fishing gear and maybe sleep in the back on a solo trip to upstate NY . I bought a vehicle for my needs, not for my image. I got family to ferry around and only a minivan could do that. Today I picked up 5 apple trees about 10 feet tall and they all went inside . Incredible cargo capacity. The dashboard is well rounded and very attractive. The other vans look very odd inside. The Sedona looks like a car inside and everything is well laid out. Nothing clunky. It's great having the 8 passenger version with the center seat. I push it down to use the cup holders. I make hotdogs for my passengers in my portable oven and they sit and watch movies with the dvd players . It's like a jet plane. I'm buying vans for the rest of my life. Just love them! I'm from the baby boom generation ( late boomer ) when vans and station wagons were cool in the 1970's. I was in Boy Scouts in the 1970's and the whole troop would all get in a couple of vans ( Ford, Chevrolet) and 30 kids could fit inside with their camping gear and we'd drive to summer camp for 2 weeks. Those vans and conversion vans were great but they were too commercial looking and boxy. The mini van is way better looking and almost the same cargo. Consider buying a minivan on Carvana . Good prices and they give you a great trade in. No haggling if everything is truthful. Paid $20,300 for the LX with 32,000 miles. Bought Carvana care that will give me bumper to bumper coverage until 92,000 miles or 5 years. Cost $1900. I don't understand why people are complaining about the gas mileage in the Sedona ? Are you people driving like Goggles Pizzano ? I loaded up my 2017 Kia Sedona with 450 pounds of people, 20 gallons of gas and about 500 pounds of gear, food etc. I drove from Long Island to upstate NY thru the mountains and averaged about 27 mpg on the highway. It was 29.2 mpg on the mpg gauge for a good deal of the way before I got caught in weekend traffic closer to NYC on the way home. You take your foot off the gas pedal and it cuts off gas to the engine . Modern cars are designed that way now. A lot of coasting in the mountain areas. I think Toyota and the Chrysler Pacifica get the same gas mileage as the Sedona does on the highway. I'm easily getting 28 mpg on the highway and it's the Pacifica's top figure.

I would get the 2016 Kia Sedona. It is an awesome car. It has the highest safety standards. Very comfortable. The blind spot detection, rear view parking camera, and rear cross traffic alert are a must when you drive a minivan. It does not have navigation, but you can get it on Amazon and hook up on your car without any difficulties for $130. One thing my wife loves about the Kia Sedona is that it is not as ugly as the Toyota Sienna or Honda Odyssey. I have not driven a Honda or Toyota equivalent, but I like the Kia Sedona because of the price and its highest safety ratings. I think a Toyota or Honda equivalent is around $3000 more than the Kia Sedona. Korean technology is going to be one of the best in the world. It will be ranked in the top 4 with the United States, Japan, and Germany. Already, Korea has the best wireless technology in the world since many of the components in the Apple iphone is made by the Samsung group. Koreans are a very jealous people. Kia does want to be like the Samsung group as a global renowned company in automobiles manufacturing. I am very sure Kia will catch up with Honda and Toyota in a short time frame. I saw the Tesla Model X for $150,000. This is the only model which can fit my family of 4. It is 5 to 7 times more expensive than the Kia Sedona. I am spending about $60 per month in gasoline expenses. Let's say I spend $1000 per year on gasoline to make the math easier. If I continue to drive my Kia Sedona for 100 years, the Kia Sedona + gasoline is still a better bargain compared to the Tesla. This is extremely sad even though the gas mileage for the Kia Sedona is around 15 to 20 miles per gallon. (updated - no problems for 4 years 7 months)
