Used 2002 Kia Sedona EX 4dr Minivan (3.5L 6cyl 5A) Consumer Reviews
Don't Do It
I purchased this vehicle because of the price & now know I would have been WAY better off to pay more for a better brand. A/C has been fixed 2 times & it took 3 trips to dealer to diagnose bad evaporator. It made horrible noises & needed a crank shaft pulley replaced. Also, the windshield cracked with no sign of impact...another complaint I've seen in other reviews. Worst of all, it has begun to rust. It was repaired once & now is rusting again in another spot. When I called Kia to request help getting rid of my lemon, they told me to use the state lemon law...in other words, they wouldn't do anything on their own, it had to be legally.
what's not to like
We have just over 1800 miles on our EX and it has never been in the shop. Regular oil changes and by-hand washes is all it has needed. The low end torque is great. The weight, which hurts the gas mileage sure helps it hold the road well. This is one solid, inexpensive hauler. And, those who get a ride in it praise the leather and other conveniences.

I think I made a mistake
Like others - we purchased the Sedona because of the price. My wife and I have had it in the shop at least 3 times for the air conditioner. Now, the steering column makes a clunky noise. They ordered a "new steering column". Then... THEY SOLD OFF KIA - the next nearest dealer is about 90 minutes away. I'm not feeling too good about the purchase. Also, the windshield cracked and cracked quickly.
Warranty useless
Purchased top-of-the-line Sedona EX with leather, sunroof, etc. After delivery, we found a cracked interior trim piece (pillar), a ripped interior trim piece (on passenger side sliding door), a scratch on the radio, a place on a leather seat that had been rubbed with sand paper to remove a stain/mark, and an incessantly rattling rear seat. The dealership can't or won't fix problems. Can't get parts, etc. Van was in shop for 21 days of the first 40 days after delivery. Think twice before you purchase one of these. "You get what you pay for." Look at Honda and Toyota.
Using the Warranty a Lot!!
We bought this van when due with our second child. We have had a lot of challenges with it so far, and are currently working on getting out of it. I've used the roadside assistance 3 times for a dead battery and had it in for service to replace the cam seals. The darned thing was leaking oil at 5000 miles! The car has not started on 3 separate occasions, which stinks when you're pregnant and relying on it! I would not buy one again, nor would I recommend it to friends. When it runs it's a nice enough van. A bit loud, but basically a nice, albeit unreliable van.
