Used 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Consumer Reviews
loved it - but....
I love the look, the power, the transmission, the luxury ride. This was my second Grand Cherokee after having a few 4-Runners and the ride comfort can't compare. The negative - skip the navigation package upgrade, the voice activated system has never worked in either of the last two cars. I repeat NEVER. Use google maps on your phone, it will be a lot less aggravating. The last one i owned came with Michelin Premier LTX tires - DO NOT BUY a car new with these. Have the dealer switch them before you agree to purchase the vehicle. They might as well be made of butter that is how quickly they wear out. They are a 60k tire that won't get 30k before not passing inspection. (read the reviews online - nobody gets past 30k) After talking to others who had the same problem with lease turn-ins, i believe it's simply a money making ploy by Chrysler Capital. If you are leasing I would recommend finding someone else to do the financing. Speaking of tires, if you live in a northern climate the GC is only as good in the snow as the tires since the ground clearance isn't overly impressive. With a 4-runner I could get through the end of the driveway regardless of how high the snow was plowed in, but with the GC i needed to snow blow it out first. With the exception of these two items it was a great vehicle though.

Avoid if need tech
Would not start in my garage. Think rfi from connected garage door opener, but Jeep never figured out. Know 2 other people with this issue, hold brake peddle down hard for a minute and Starts. Dealer said to go away, hire lawyer they couldn’t fix. In shop 14 times in 18 months. Uconnect horrible, lots of dropped calls. Hemi is fun. Wants mid grade gas. 20mpg.

Hemi Punch
Purchased 2017 Jeep Cherokee Summit 11/22/2022 from laker Motors in Holland, Michigan. Average Mileage so far 18.2.I love the police cruiser exhaust rumble. Needed to compare this vehicle with typical 4 wheel drive FORD truck and they simply do not compare. Love this vehicle so far. I have yet to drive it in winter and will get back to you on that experience. The tabs do not allow me to check the v-8 hemi summit hemi version. UPDATE: Have had he vehicle two years. Recently had two mechanics look at it and drive it. They both said it was very unusual when compared to others like it. ALL the pieces were apparently put together properly and I still love the vehicle and now my wife wants one.

Tantalizing 2017 Trailhawk
In looking for a reliable, comfortable, trail rated SUV that had a level of luxury to it, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk was the only choice to carry all of the above in this class of vehicle. While the test drive only gave me a taste of it's capabilities, our first road trip demonstrated the luxury, safety, comfort and handling I was looking for. While I'm still in the infancy of the lease of this car, so far it leans on the plus side though I do have a couple of quirks to mention. The technology of the U-Connect system while, at first glance, seems great. It has a few drawbacks. I'm an avid iPhone user and the connectivity and memory of this system isn't up to par. After programming my phone favorites into the onboard memory, it loses them every new restart. The programming and connection of Pandora through the U-Connect site (as well as iHeart radio etc.) is clunky and Pandora has to be re-selected after each start. Having previously owned a Honda product, their system reconnected each time quite reliably. So Chrysler has some work to do on that. My other quirk is the marginal, at best, fuel mileage. While it performed to the expected and advertised 23-25 mpg on our first road trip, the city mileage has been around 11.5-12.5 mpg. Realizing that it depends on your driving habits, I've been ultra-conservative to see what it's capable of (read "I'm keeping my foot out of it) and have been perplexed at it's gas gulping nature, though thanks to a big tank capacity, I don't notice it that much...until it's time for the refill. Overall, I'm a happy camper though! And looking forward to actually pulling a camper soon and challenging the Trailhawk with some serious California exploration.
