I-Pace: No longer recommend

I’ve been thinking about an EV for some time, and my Jaguar XF lease was ending. I was able to get into an 2019 HSE spec demo model that was nicely discounted. I think the best deals are on 2019 gently used models from a Jaguar dealership, where you can still get the Federal Tax credit of $7500, and you have an option to lease or purchase. The I-Pace is one of the most beautiful cars I have ever driven. The fit, finish, and technology are far superior to the 2017 XF. The HSE trim level gives you just about everything you need and want in this luxury vehicle. The best thing about this car is how it drives! Wow! Great combo of power and handling makes it a joy to drive. The compact size makes it easy to maneuver, while giving me just as much, if not more room that XF sedan. Now for the expectations. Research and know what you’re getting into before you buy or lease. The range and charging times will not make it easy for long road trips. The range will get worse in cold weather and more aggressive driving, and you’ll end up planning your commute and trips more carefully to avoid range anxiety. It’ll be hard to own this car without installing a home 240V charger. Take a few minutes and call a couple of electricians for quotes, and it will save you hundreds of dollars than if you went with the Jag recommended installers. The vehicle doesn’t come with a spare tire, and you’ll probably want to get a tire inflation repair kit (about $50). You can buy a spare from Jaguar, but there’s no place to store it, and it’ll take up space in the back. Lastly, if you go to review and comparisons, there will be endless reviews, and particularly comparisons with Other EV’s like Tesla, Audi, and the upcoming Mercedes. The two things that sold me on this I-PACE was the beautiful design and the handling/drivability. If you’re considering a vehicle in this segment, you really should consider it as an option. Update (July 2022). I’ve owned this vehicle and for 2.5 years, and I’m updating it to two star. IT still drives and performs well, but it has spent a lot of time at the dealer. Electrical problems in an EV means that if I were to do this again, I would not have leased or purchased this vehicle again. Update (Jan 2023): I've downgraded the rating further from two star to one star, because it ended up in the dealer again with significant electrical problems. After diagnostic assessment, the dealer came up with the exact same fix that didn't solve the problem before. While it still drove and performed well, when it was running, I would recommend that you stay away from this vehicle, if you are considered buying the 2019 model.

The I Pace HSE has brought me into the all-Electric world in a big way. It is beautiful inside and out, eye-catching style. Smooth, very fast, great handling as you would expect from a Jaguar. Still unique so it stands out on the road vs ubiquitous Tesla's. Way more comfortable and luxurious than the Tesla and almost as good range. We are getting over 250 mile range. It's a remarkable car that made me a believer about electric cars being the future. Great technology as well. Buy one!!

I finally took the plunge on an electric car and couldn’t be happier with my decision and with the I-PACE. Drop dead gorgeous car outside and in, excellent fit and finish, quiet with no rattles or squeaks, and so much fun to drive!! High MSRP but Jaguar incentives plus $7500 tax credit make it a great value. Love the regenerative braking and have had no issue with pedal feel as noted in Edmunds review. Like all Jags and Land Rovers the infotainment has a slight lag but I actually love the interface and controls. Range is more than enough for my around town use, even on a busy Saturday running around all day. I couldn’t be happier - never been so excited about a car. Update: 6 months later still feel exactly the same way. Zero problems with the car. Update: 18 months later still feel exactly the same way. Zero problems with the car, and still 6 months away from my first scheduled maintenance! Update: 2.5 years after purchase still zero problems. Only trip to dealer has been for 2 year scheduled maintenance. We now also have a newer BMW X5 PHEV and a newer Volvo XC40 BEV in the family and the Jag is still hands down the best, most fun to drive. Update: 3 years later all is still great. No problems. Still my favorite car ever.

There's very little to say that all of the reviews above have said, but I'm absolutely with them. It's my first electric car as I was waiting until one really struck me. After doing months of research, I made the switch and I've never looked back. It's beautiful, fast, awesome and man is it cool never having to go to the gas station. Best car I've ever owned and I've owned a bunch.

Great car. I own the HSE model and love it. The review of the regen braking is way out in left field. When set to hi regen it stops very quickly. The brake pedal has a great feel and is not grabby like they say. Did you guys even read the manual on how to set the aggressive regen? I own 6 award winning hotrods and muscle cars as well as a late model corvette and a competition RX-7. No comparison. The I -Pace is the best all. Around car I have ever driven.
