Low Expectations to Begin With

Purchased for only $15k, so expectations were low. Few problems first couple years, little by little minor things started to break (visor, carpet clips, plastic covers for seat belts, trunk console hinge, pwr window components, door lock, exterior handle, etc.) With 55,000 miles, tires wore out, front brakes and rotors...not bad at all. At 58,000 miles, rear wheel bearing goes....mech inspected others and they are ok for now. $250 for repair. All and all, not bad in terms of how much I am spending, I'm just amazed at how many things have failed on the car. I hear the newer models are made better....can't cost that much to make plastic components thicker to prevent breaking, etc.

Well. i got my hyundai sonata from this man who said he bought it from a lady who had it for years, APPARENTLY, she didn't take care of it. I end up getting spark plugs, diff. fuel lines, fuel pump, catalytic converter and many tires. Paint is fading. Transmission is slipping. got my bushings & tie rod replaced on the passenger side, JUST A LOT. luckily i didn't have to pay for anything but the fuel pump (: STILL A LOT OF WORK. I'm ready to switch cars.

Twice is to much

Transmission went at 78,000. The 2nd Hyundai Transmission to go. Have a 96 Accent & also lost a transmission after the 60,000 mile warranty. Just $2000. The last time and especially from this dealer. They could care less about your business. You might as well drive it until it croaks. You could not get a decent trade on a Hyundai if your life depended on it. Most don't even want a used Hyundai on their lot. Give it away or drive it until it drops.

I have had problems with this car from the minute I drove it off the lot. Discovered an oil consumption problem when there was no oil in the car after 1000 miles.According to Hyundai specs it is acceptable to burn a quart of oil per 1000 miles in a new car. I tried to get them to fix this problem under the warrrany but they refused. I was very dissappointed in the corp. They finally admitted and fixed the problem at 60,000m when in the shop (for another problem) it was discovered that the piston ring gaps were lined up. Also numerous power window problems, wheel bearings, new catalytic converter, check engine light constantly coming on. Have had enough it is time for this car to go!
