2011 Genesis
I have now had my new 2011 Genesis for 1 week. I got it at Jim Hudson Hyundai in Columbia SC. I got the base 3.8 V6 with no options. I will not give the exact price but I was out the door for under $30,000. Price aside, it is truly a wonderful car. I am in my upper 30's and I feel like a teenager again when I drive this thing. Being excited about driving is something I had forgotten about until last week. I also love the attention this car affords. I have had so many compliments and typically the reaction is WOW, I did not know Hyundai made such a nice vehicle. I did research for weeks and the only thing people can say bad about this vehicle is that they don't get the prestige. Get this car!
2011 Genesis 3.8
I am updating my last post. I have had the Genesis almost 3 months now. I have no regrets about trading my MB E-350 for this car. Truth be told, this car does not out handle the Benz. But, it has met and exceeded the benz everywhere else. The Benz had the P-1 sports package on it, so it was not very quiet on the road. This car is ultra car on the highway and all you have to do is step down with the right foot, and she is waiting to do her thing. I am truly impressed with this car in all aspects. My wife asked me if I would buy another Genesis and I told her no. She then asked what I would buy next, I told her the Equus. I can only imagine what Hyundai has in store for that car.
This is an outstanding car for the money
We loved the "feel" of the car the minute we sat down in it. The drive...was smooth, quite and an easy drive. We could not beleive the car had so many convenience items as part of the car. Though a 3.8 V6 engine, it drove well and had plenty of power. What a car...now I understand what all the reviewers are saying. A true joy to drive.

Perfect Sedan
Great bang for the buck. Never had a problem. 95k miles and only half way through second set of tires and only one brake job.

Still a great car - 2011 Genesis
I bought m Genesis sedan (3.8L) brand new on Labor Day in 2010. I compared it to Camry and Accord models at that time, since it was priced in the same range - it has a nice V-6, heated seats, etc. One minor visit to the Dealer to fix a loose wire in year two. Since then regular oil changes, a fix to some rusted out brake lines (should hav ebeen a recall) and normal expendables. 150K miles and still absolutely a terrific car. I guess I need to replace it at some time, but it just keeps going. And I still like its looks. New spark plugs installed recently - on the advice of a knowledgeable friend. No difference apparent. Also put "wings" on rear deck to replace flying H.

Love it, love it, love it
I purchased my 2011 certified Genesis 4.6 a few weeks ago. There is very little not to like about this car. Performance is excellent, fuel economy isn't bad (averaged 29+ on my first road trip), warranty is excellent, interior is comfortable, and the car gets complements everywhere I go. Only a few quirks (ex: cruise control isn't extremely consistent and the adaptive cruise control - while a great idea - isn't very useful because as soon as someone pulls in front of you in traffic the car does a huge slow down) The navigation and stereo control takes some getting used to, but now I like it. The cooled driver's seat is the bomb in this warm weather. I have no regrets! I love it!
Best Buy out There
Drove 2000 miles immediately upon picking the car up at the dealer. Most of the miles were on interstate highways. On the last leg of our trip in 8 hours and a few minutes we averaged 66 mph and 28.5 mpg covering 530 miles! Different pavement surfaces did make different noises but nothing disturbing. We are enjoying the whole experience and were not surprised at all upon returning to find the October issue of Consumer Reports rates the car we bought as the Best of the Big Sedans. Buy one and you'll be glad you did. We certainly are!!
Solid Car
The Genesis is a solid well built car that now makes Hyundai the leader in quality. The fit and finish of this car is second to none. The engine is outstanding and the ZF transmission is very smooth. The cabin is super quiet at 80 mph. If you are looking for a luxury sedan, don't pass up a test drive of a Genesis 4.6 sedan.
Father in laws car
Nice upscale family car. Not all the newfangled technology of today's new cars.

LOVE IT
Has been an excellent car and very much maintenance free except for fluids and tire rotation/replacement. After owning and driving for 8 years I will keep for a couple more years. A great car for road trips and around town.
It can beat an M4!
This is so fast it will put you in your seat! How soft, put your mom to sleep! Just kidding, for a review you have to have humor. I had my 2011 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 v8 for about 4 years in 2020/2021 with 145,000 miles, I now have 203,789 miles and I'll tell you what I think about it. First of all, kudos to Hyundai for creating such a dynamic engine that puts power down and can still be efficient on the road. It's fun to drive. I don't know how far I can stretch that. The 4.6 is a beast, not just a beast but a road beast. 17 mpg or 18 highway if you're on the open road. Easy 25, 26 mpg. While passing the M3 all day. With great features for 2011, we are in 2024. Smart cruise control, 16-way adjustable seats, HID Headlights(Headlamps move wherever you stir) Bluetooth for your phone, and sunshade for rear passengers. Luxurious and spacious interior, smart key entry (which is awesome. I keep leaving my keys and the car reminds you that your keys are still inside). (It helped me a lot.) But now I will talk about the drawbacks of the 4.6 2011. It is quiet, too quiet. For a V8, I wish I could hear the factory noise of that engine. It's so fast I want to hear it too. 385 horsepower may not seem like much, but it's faster than you think. Reliability and quality, I use it every day from sunrise to sunset. However, some things stop working, like the heated and cooled seats, the radio buttons stop working, or the maps (the shaker wheel buttons are how I control the radio)You know, Cosmetic things, stuff that you use but don't use. It is also a well-put-together vehicle. No Raddles, even after 203,000 or 204,000 miles on the vehicle. Still solid, but as for the 4.6 V8 2011 Hyundai Genesis. Thumbs up. 4.3 out of 5. I wish it had interior lights (that would be great) and a little more louder. I know it's not a Sports car, but it needs to BE one and SOUND like one. Twin Turbo That Fker. Lol. Hope you enjoyed the review.

Great car. One major flaw!!!
I love the car. Second Hyundai and no complaints other than one. Air bag passenger Off Light glows a bright orange at night even when no one is sitting in the passenger seat. It is very disconcerting since everything else is a very nice blue. I contacted Hyundai corporate. A very nice lady said there was no solution and she asked me if I could avoid driving at night. I told her not really. I didn't buy a luxury car that I wouldn't drive it at night. She realized she asked a dumb question. My solution is to scotch tape a penny over the Off Light at night. I wonder if a Lexus has the same kind of flaw.
2011 Hyundai Genesis 3.8
I have owned Jaguars, Mercedes, and five BMWS. They are all good cars and fun to drive. I did the research on the Genesis and read all the reviews and was convinced this was the car to test drive and give it a try. I drove the car and was completely sold on the car in every way. I bought it and am more than satisfied with the performance, ride, quietness, comfort, roominess and quality. It is all that the other cars are and more and 25k less to buy.
Wouldn't Buy Another One
The drive train on this one is awful. The car has a difficult time finding the right gear. As a result it is always shifting. Shifts aren't smooth and many times the transmission tries to catch up with the engine, resulting in a lurch forward. The cruise control can't keep a steady speed. The engine is extremely noisy. My 2002 Infinity I35 is twice the car this one is. Also the radio doesn't show the artist and title of songs played. This is ten year old technology folks. I would not buy another one.
NOT WORLD CLASS
This is my third Hyundai and my first major disappointment. While an otherwise decent car, the Genesis has a fit and finish problem with its roof. The car shows "indentations" or "ripples" around the sun roof and around the antenna installation. My car was review by the Hyundai regional rep and reported that this issue was noted in other cars on the lot and "came that way from the factory". I appealed to Hyundai Customer Connect who reiterated that "other like vehicles displayed the same characteristics,..operating as designed, therefore, no further assistance. The model should be called the "Donald Trump Edition", it has as many "waves" as the Donald's hair do. Major dissapointment!
Only 8-Month ownership of the car
I was convinced by my wife to buy the 2011 Genesis 4.6 and I sold it 8 months later. The ride was killing me. Couple times I traveled with my family, my 18 years old son thought we're riding on truck. Furthermore, the squeaks & rattles are also unacceptable. My wife said she will never tried Hyundai again.
Great but
Some items have been overlooked in an otherwise great car. No mute button. No pedal adjustment. No outside temperature view. No power folding mirrors. Surround sound is not permanent selection. No 6 disc with navigation a few of the shortfalls
WORST Ride EVER
The 2011 Hyundai Genesis is the WORST riding car I have EVER owned. It even makes smooth roads feel rough! It is no luxury to feel like you're in an airplane during extreme turbulence.
Too much road noise
This car looks good, has very good road performance and is very nice except for the excessive road noise. We thought it was the Dunlop tires, but we put Michelin Pilot tires on and the car and it is so noisy you have to turn up the radio to cover up the sound. Be sure to drive on the interstate and not just the smooth roads the sales person directs you to or you might be unhappy with this car!
Best car purchase I’ve made
If you want a quality luxury sedan with plenty of power this is the car for you.

Exactly, amazingly SUPERIOR!
I once owned the only Porsche 928GTS in Spain, and l thought it was a well-engineered automobile. It really was. BUT, back in the states since 2009, l have to say that my 2011 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 is the very best car that l have ever owned and/or driven anywhere, anytime. The only thing that has ever gone wrong on this car is that the driver side window switch failed, but my extended warranty covered that. Since then, I’ve replaced the front brakes (wear and tear), I’ve had it tuned up once (time now for another tune up), replaced the battery, and all four tires. I change the oul every 5,000 miles, and l now have 165,000+ miles on it. I still get as much as 35 miles to the gallon on a trip, but mostly average 20-24 moh driving locally in the Atlanta area. I can honestly say (of this now 12 year old car) that l have never EVER owned a better car. I bought this as my retirement car, and l plan on continuing to take good care of it, and driving it until the wheels fall off or l die, whichever comes first. I don’t have words sufficient to express my pride in, my amazement of, or my love for this car. It is my baby!
