I was very surprised by this car, was compared to RAV4 and CRV but after the test drive and price I was sold. I did not need all the bells and whistles as this car has enough already and it is all standard. Drives and handles great and Hyundai quality as of late and the warranty cant be beat. Do your research and find out for yourself! I am extremely happy and feel I made a great choice in buying the Elantra Touring. I do not see too many on the road and always get asked and get looks while driving..........26 to 27 mpg in mixed driving and still breaking in the engine.....

I've only had this car a few days, but I am very impressed. My dad recommended it as a bigger option for my family which I was a skeptic of the "wagon" at first. After test driving and taking it home, I am hooked. It looks a lot better in person than in pictures. The ride is rougher than regular sedans, but not bad. CD/Radio/XM system is great and the layout overall is fantastic.

I have had the car for nearly two weeks and love it. I dumped my Toyota Tacoma in search of better fuel economy, better driving dynamics, and interior room. The Elantra Touring delivers on all three fronts. While not as good as my wife's Civic, the Hyundai is delivering decent fuel economy. My worst tank was still over 27 mpg of mostly city driving. Don't believe the mpg gauge, it is wrong. My SE 5 speed is a blast to drive. It handles on rails and steers very quickly. Ride is firm, but not jarring. You have to expect this with 17" low pro tires. Interior space is class leading and I have no issues with head/leg/thigh room and I am a big dude! Trips to Home Depot should be no problem .

I've logged about 7,000 miles on my Touring, and I've got nothing but praise for it. The cargo area allows me to comfortably transport two dogs (one large, the other medium sized). Despite the abundant cargo space, the car still feels small and handles like the sport-tuned compact hatch it is. Build quality is very tight just like the past two Hyundai's I've owned. Acceleration is surprisingly satisfactory with the MT given the engine's horsepower rating and aged design. The best part of the deal is that I am getting consistently above the published mileage ratings. With the cruise control set at 70mph I push 33.5-34 mpg on an 1.5 hour trip, and at 76mpg I get 32-32.5mpg. Great car!

We bought this because CR is in love with the vehicle. The car (as the i-30 elsewhere in the world) has garnered all kinds of awards over the past 3 years. Compared to my Pontiac Vibe (Corolla), the ET has better fit and finish, excellent visibility, transmission, and is unbelievably quiet. The dash layout is simple and attractive, the Bluetooth is voice interactive and a must have, and the air conditioner is far superior to any other car I have ever seen. The ET is much more comfortable for rear passengers than the new Tucsan. If the reliability holds up as CR thinks it will, I'll be buying Korean products instead of Japanese from now on. Buying this car is a no brainer.

I love this car! It rides well, fits all of my stuff, bikes, painting canvas etc and looks great. On the highway, it really cruises and in the city, short stops have felt seamless. For the money, I would (and did) pick this car over all others in its class.

Amazing Value

I've driven my new car about 1,250 miles & love it. It's comfortable, handles well & is fun to drive (and I'd been driving a MINI Clubman). Its brakes are excellent; its headlights are better than the MINI's; the controls are easy to operate. On the downside, you really feel road bumps (which I expected), the engine is a bit coarse (no surprise either), and the sunroof whistles loudly when fully open at 40 mph and above. But at a price of $19k+, w/ a lot of room, reputation for reliability & standard features, the competition can't come close: integrated iPod, XM radio, heated seats & mirrors, sunroof, fog lights, trip computer. You'll need to add Bluetooth, however, as a dealer option.

This is an amazing car. Small on the outside, very big on the inside, lots of ergonomic and useful small touches like the simple climate controls and abundant storage options in front and in the cargo area. Mileage easily beats EPA estimates. Got 36 mpg on the freeway on my second trip. Fit and finish and design is top-notch. Parked next to an Audi A4 Avant and could see the car was bigger inside (about the same length in the passenger and cargo areas and much taller). So it's not an Audi but it's half the price. Compared to our 2007 Accord, it is superior in space, comfort, looks, driving dynamics, fuel efficiency, and price. A no-brainer.

This car has everything we needed and wanted: big on the inside with more cargo space than small SUVs we were looking at like the CX-7 or Tucson, small on the outside and very maneuverable into tight parking spaces and our garage, very good fuel economy for the size, great German styling, a well designed interior, lots of safety features like side airbags and ECS and ABS as standard, and a low sticker price. This car is sold as the i30cw and got the highest crash ratings, include side, from the UK and Australian testing agencies. Note the American NHTSA ratings were copied (inappropriately) from the Elantra sedan, with which this car shares none of its design.

I am in love with this car! I was actually in the market for a new Santa Fe, but I wanted to keep my payment low. As an alternative (I have two big dogs so I needed a car that would suit them comfortably), the touring is perfect for my needs. Lots of interior space, especially with the back seats down. The car is sporty and fun to drive, economical (so far, I'm averaging 25 mpg) and has nice eye appeal. I chose the chili pepper red (my first red car!) with the tan/taupe interior: really nice combo. The bluetooth and XM/Sirius system is great. Excellent safety features, unbeatable price, and a quiet ride. I would highly recommend this car to anyone.

We recently traded our Sonata (2010) for this Elantra Touring. The Sonata was (and is) a great car, but we wanted more rearward visibility and less bulk. This car fills the bill, and adds a fun/sporty factor along with it. So far, we have really enjoyed the car and look forward to a lot of pleasant miles together.

I considered Civic, Legacy, and Elantra Touring (ET). I bought ET because I wanted to save money. Fuel Economy was okay, 26.6 MPG combined driving city and highway. As you know, new sonata 2011 can save more gas. I found that door lock was not working sometimes. After restart Engine, the door lock works fine. I changed 2 rims and 2 tires. The one original rim costed me $360 and the original tire cost me $168. Use tirerack.com, not Hyundai Dealer service. I think the original rim and tire is too weak. The good thing was no power train problems so far.

I have a 2010 ET 5-speed. It replaced a 2007 Santa Fe which, unfortunately, had an engine failure at 210K+. I found this car for sale by a private party. It already had 177K miles. I’ve had to replace the rear wheel bearings, alternator, fuel pump, tires (of course), and recently the clutch. It’s now close to 233K. The sound system is better than my wife’s Equinox. It still gets 35mpg (or better) if I cruise in 5th gear. Acceleration is fine, ride is fine, has a little body rust and dings. (Hey, it’s the Midwest!) It’s fun to drive, and I wouldn’t hesitate to take it on an extended road trip. Full tank, iPod through a plug-in Blu-Tooth FM converter (gives me more control over playlists), and drinks and snacks, and I’m on my way! It handles fine in rain or snow. AWD would be nice, but not an option on this car. Just keep your head! I’ve had Hondas (Civic HB and CR-V), and Hyundais (Sonata and aforementioned Santa Fe), and thus may be one of the most fun cars to drive. With the recent work, I’m looking at 300K being realistic.

I have had 4 Hyundai's, this is my favorite. Great gas mileage, lots of headroom, lots of inside storage, like smaller size than SUV. Would never have a car without a hatchback. Unfortunately this model is no longer made, I wish they would bring it back in the Hyundai lineup.

15 years old and still going strong!

We bought this vehicule on it's 4th birthday and have owned it since. I've put gas, oil and brakes in it. I've changed the timing belt and pulleys as a preventive maintenance around 160000km. This thing is now at 230000, and has given us no grief whatsoever. The head gaket is starting to be leaky a bit, but after 15 years of seeing anything from -35 Celsius to + 40C, I would consider that quite normal and expectable. The engine still consumes 0 oil. All and all, I am amazed at the reliability of the thing. Of course, those looking for refinement would have to look elsewhere, but as far as a roomy, economical and fun little-big vehicule goes, one can't go wrong. Hyundai really aimed bull's eye on that one. Too bad they didn't keep this lineage going longer

Wow! Look out Toyota and Honda. If you are considering a corolla or a civic I would recommend you stop by a Hyundai dealership and test drive the Elantra Touring. Excellent build, features and overall design. This vehicle is a european Hyundai with german design. Ride is excellent and the ESC, traction control, six airbags and 4 wheel anti-lock disc brakes are standard. Add the 5 year, 60,000 mile warranty and you can see why Hyundai recently outperformed Toyota in customer satisfation. This vehicle is well thought out. This is my first Hyundai and previously drove a Volvo S80. Volvo may want to look in there rearview mirror. Hyundai is right behind them.

Nice Car, but Should Get Better Mileage

Just bought this car in Nov. 2009, and we have put a little over 500 miles on it. Spent 2 months car-shopping at the worst possible time: right after Cash-For-Clunkers, when the dealership lots are empty! We were attracted to the wagon-style, which is a style that is NOT popular in America. The other 2 cars we were considering was the VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI and the Honda Fit. Still in its break-in period, so don't really know about its mileage yet, but its EPA is 23 city, 30 highway (which should be better). Handling is great - we don't mind that it has a somewhat stiff ride. The SE has a lot of features that others in its class leave out: XM radio, heated seats & outside mirrors, etc.

This was my first new car purchase - I've had it for about two months now and am loving it. Averaging 35 mpg mixed driving. I'm 6'3" and have plenty of head and leg room. Love the blue color. Overall, I'd say it's a great value at about $19.8k OTD.
