GM got it just right
We've had our H3 (automatic with Offroad Pkg) almost six months, so a review is in order. Main use is local short-haul commuting. We occasionally go offroad. Considering the H3 is a true offroad capable rig, its in-town manners are great. It maneuvers better than many sedans. The street ride is kind of truck-like, but the freeway ride is great and amazingly quiet. Visibility issues are overblown; no worse than many popular cars. Engine power is adequate but more would be nice. Doesn't do well on grades at 70. Offroad the H3 is superb but thats a write-up in itself. We get about 13mpg in town (rarely above 40mph), 18+ on trips. Regular. One warranty item; sticky window switch. We love our H3!

We love it. It's great off road, fun to drive, pulls a 19' travel trailer, and it will plow thru 3 feet of snow with very little effort. It is a very stable and safe vehicle. Thinking of buying another one. It truly is a little monster.

Just ok......
We ordered the vehicle in Feb 05. After months of anticipation, we finally receievd in June 05. Nice fit and finish. Vehicle runs and drives out ok. However, the 5 cylinder engine is anemic and the vehicle is severely underpowered. In addition, while GM was offering lots of incentives on all other GM vehicles, MSRP was the best we could do on this one. Since the lux-H2 is being offered at $49k with the employee discount/incentives program, it is a much better value for the money.
I Like
Had to convince my wife to buy it but now she is a convert. I love the looks both exterior and interior and the quality of the build. The turning radius is impressive for the Hummer-- Tighter than some cars. Power could be better but, if you are not towing something it is adequate. Gas mileage is decent for an SUV its size. Only 2 negatives in my book---More space between the seat and door for making adjustments to the seat and having an option for driver seat position memory. 24,000 miles later, I am very happy that I own an H3.
Superior Blue
I am very pleased with my purchase. The H3 feels very solid and well built. It drives quite nice and cruise the highway well. The stereo is awesome. Everyone knows it is underpowered but as long as you are not looking for sports car performance, it is not an issue. The seats are comfy. Only complaints so far, the stereo is installed slightly crooked and pushes out the center face plate. dealer says bring it in and they will fix it but it is the attention to detail that hurts GM again. Second issue is weather or not the H3 come with a shallow pocket in the center console. This dealer says no and I did not get one, but I am pretty sure it did an it was not installed.
