Great Ride

The unibody construction makes the ride and handling very smooth for a pickup truck. Not sure why some reviews focus on the audio system not having a knob to adjust the volume; I use the audio controls on the steering wheel to do this. The two way tailgate makes loading and unloading much easier than a conventional drop down tailgate. The Honda Sensing package includes lane departure warning, blind spot warning, adaptive cruise control and warning of approaching traffic when backing out.

Updated Review -- I still love this truck

Be aware this is based on a few weeks and 900 miles of ownership. I am comparing it to my previous truck, a 2005 Nissan Frontier King Cab. Handling is good, with slight body lean and a secure feeling in corners. I do find the steering a little light. Comfort is outstanding, as good as a car. The suspension smooths out bumps while still feeling firm, not bouncy. The front seats are comfortable and adjust nicely to my short old body. The rear seats seem at least adequate, and when they are folded up, the storage room is remarkable. The controls are scattered around a bit, but work well once I figured out where they are. I was apprehensive about the entertainment system, which has gotten unfavorable reviews. I found it to be unintuitive but once I worked past that, it does everything it is supposed to do. I have not yet used the voice control system. Entrance and exit is easy, even without running boards. The swing door on the bed is more useful than I expected. It makes it easier to reach into the bed and easier to get up into the bed. Overall a well designed cargo area. With one big demerit - tailgate doesn't lock! Still, I love this truck! Updated review, with a year and almost 8500 miles of use. The miles have continued to be mixed. I drive it around town and also on I5 to California and State Highway 26 to the Oregon Coast. In town, the truck is OK. The extra width took some getting used to, but the backup camera helps a lot with parallel parking. On the road it is solid and stable, even in heavy crosswinds. Power is more than adequate for passing and merging. I put studded snow tires on all wheels for winter trips to California and the coast, and have never been concerned about traction or road holding. Some of the good things: the adaptive cruise control is awesome, the trunk is very handy and mostly makes up for the non-locking tailgate, the side opening tailgate continues to be very useful, the rear seats are quite comfortable -- we have had adults back there for up to 2 hours with no complaints. Some of the 'meh' things: the infotainment system is just ok, the HVAC is also just ok, at highway speeds the moonroof is very noisy - no buffeting, which is nice, but even just lifted at the rear, lots of noise. I use the power rear window for ventilation -- very quiet. A couple of not so good things: Mileage as shown by the computer is not wonderful, about 15.5 in town and about 24.5 on the road. The keyless entry automatically locks when I get 10 feet or so from the car. Well and good, except when it doesn't. If the truck decides it doesn't want to lock, it gives a high-pitched squeal, and then I lock it with the fob. Thing is, no rhyme or reason to not locking - all windows up, close the last door and, beeep! This is a minor annoyance because it doesn't happen very often So, upshot is, this is a great light truck. Some things could be better, but overall no regrets -- well worth the money.

I bought a 2017 Ridgeline in June of 2016, when they first hit the dealerships. It is a light duty truck, but it is the perfect truck for the "I need a truck every now and then" owner. I have had no problems with the vehicle. I like driving the Ridgeline more than any vehicle we have owned. It is the most comfortable vehicle we have ever owned, no doubt. It handles like a big SUV, and is fun to drive. I really like the two-way tailgate for loading heavy stuff into the bed (i.e. sacks of ready-mix). And I really like the large water-tight compartment in the bed. Also, with the back seat up, the rear space is perfect for big dogs.

Heater will not heat the floor.

I have tried to put the heat controls pointing to just the floor and due to the small openings there is not enough heat to keep the floor warm. Just took a trip to Chicago and had cold feet all the way. I took the vehicle back to the dealer and was told it works just like the other 2017 units and that was how it works. Definitely not impressed with the outcome of the dealer visit. My 2003 Jeep Wrangler has a better heater than this new 2017 Honda Ridgeline RTS

Brakes defective

2017 and presumably 2018 Honda Ridgeline have poor brake rotors. Over heat and warp quickly. Entire vehicle shakes.
