Used 2010 Honda Insight Consumer Reviews
It's a good car. Period.
I compared the I2 to a number of other compact cars in the sub-$20k range. It drives better than any other car except for the Honda Fit. The driving feel is nearly as solid as the Saab 9-3 I own, except of course for the lack of 90 extra horses and no turbo. It's also a lot quieter on the inside than the hodgepodge of cars I've owned previously (I know several magazines said the interior is noisy -maybe compared to a Lexus?). Though it's not as tall as the Fit, with less cargo volume, the I2 can fit longer items which is useful for me. The so-called blind spot doesn't bother me -it's negated by the giant mirrors. Take the I2 on its merits as a car and the only competitor is the Fit.
Love at First Sight
I bought this car on the day of my birthday - by accident. I accompanied my sister in law to buy a car at a Honda dealer and when I saw the Insight I immediately fell in love with it. Within minutes I was trading in my helluva noisy Toyota Matrix. My sis in law left and I stayed behind and within an hour I was driving home my Insight - the drive was smooth, the steering and seat was comfy - wow I love it. Right now I'm doing 42 mpg after 3 weeks and hope to improve as I go on. The exterior looks great, love the interior, but the alloy wheels are my favorite. Save the best for last I find the engine quiet and smooth ride which I still haven't got used to. OMG I could say this car is POETRY.

Better than EPA
I recently took advantage of the great lease deals at Honda with a 36 month Insight lease. I traded in my not-too- old Mazda 3 and am very happy I did. In my first week of ownership, with the assist of the Econ mode and the computer showing me how to drive efficiently, I am averaging about 47 mpg, about 80% highway driving. Now my mundane drive to work has become just a small contribution to the environment.
almost 1 yr old
I have driven in all 4 seasons and commute 75% highway miles. I am seeing > 50 MPG in summer, dropping to 46-47 during freezing weather. Max 1 tank average was 56 MPG. I live in the North East and don't see extreme lows or highs. I do have moderate hills to negotiate on my commute. Hwy speeds are typically 65-70 MPH. I do pay attention to acceleration but will blend with traffic as far as speed. I don't run AC or Defrost much (only at cruse speeds). I am outperforming the econo mode. It was useful for learning to drive conservatively but I have not used it for 6 months.
Love Our Hybrid!!
We traded in a REAL clunker (1988 Chevy blazer, about 16mpg) for the Insight EX, and couldn't be happier with the better mileage. The car has a roomy feel in the front seats and our dogs love the fold-down back seats. I love the video-style dash, and my husband loves spending $20 a week in fuel, as opposed to the $200 a week he was spending for his work commute. Steering is too tight at highway speeds; any steering movement causes over-response from wheels, and there is a definite roll-back problem on steep hills. I average 52 mpg for combo city/highway, and my husband gets about 42 for highway with hills. Overall great car for the $$, and our gas $$ savings is more than double the payment!
