2022 Honda HR-V Sport 4dr SUV AWD (1.8L 4cyl CVT)

Great small SUV with surprising good space inside. I compared it to Hyundai Venue and by far more space and more comfortable. Both cars ride well and smooth, but the space and comfortability sold me. The price was also a factor my final deal wasn't over priced by $5,000 like other dealerships. I did go through the internet sales department to get my price.

I was t-boned by a pickup truck at 40 miles per hour and boy did my 2022 hrv hold tight!! It kept me safe!! The pickup truck had severe damage and the hood was bent in half. The tow truck driver couldn’t believe the difference in damage between the two vehicles. I bought my hrv only 3 months ago after much safety research and I’m glad I did. I walked away after being hit and doing a 180 with only bruising. Aside from that I get great gas mileage it’s comfortable and truly possibly saved me from serious injury!

Honda HR-V: Great Subcompact SUV!

JMBSAX, 09/13/2021
2022 Honda HR-V EX 4dr SUV AWD (1.8L 4cyl CVT)
56 of 61 people found this review helpful

The HR-V fits my daughter's needs perfectly. As a subcompact SUV, it's smaller than others but sits higher up to give her a better view of the road than a subcompact hatchback. It feels solid and rides well and we are counting on typical Honda reliability. Some reviews note lack of power/acceleration, but for city and occasional highway driving, it's just fine. No problems accelerating to merge into highway traffic. The EX version provides Apple Car Play as well as an upgraded sound system and other amenities. Overall a solid vehicle and just what my daughter was looking for in a car!

I’ve had my HR-V Sport for almost a month now. I love the car but there are some things that annoy me. Primarily the outdated key fob, No variable intermittent wipers, no auto on off headlights, very poorly placed cup holders, little to no storage other than the glove compartment and poorly lit cargo space. That seems like a lot of negatives but I still love the car. It handles very well. Acceleration is adequate, ride is smooth, engine is super quiet. Cargo storage is great! The seats are comfortable on long drives and the gas mileage is great. I actually enjoy driving this car a lot more than I thought I would. I definitely recommend it if you can get past the quirks.

Lots of Issues For A 2022

Honda Lover, Michigan, 10/26/2023
2022 Honda HR-V Sport 4dr SUV AWD (1.8L 4cyl CVT)

Let's start off with the pros: -Great in the snow -Great going slow through rough terrain -Cute looking car I like the paddle shifting feature Cons: -Technology seems unreliable. I get blank screens a lot. I have had to replace the technology screen 3 times now. -I have had to replace the car battery already -I have had to replace all the heating and cooling system, as it randomly failed on me one day -I have had loose parts under the car that need to be tightened every few months. I could feel something hit right beneath my foot when it was on the break. Thankfully everything has been covered under warranty so far, but I feel bad for anyone who owns this car after me and has to pay for these repairs! I take extremely good care of my vehicles and a new car should not have these issues.

Big Disappointment

CM, 08/23/2022
2022 Honda HR-V EX-L 4dr SUV AWD (1.8L 4cyl CVT)
19 of 21 people found this review helpful

In desperation for a replacement vehicle, I purchased the HR-V EX L in February 2022. The Westport dealership would not honor the sticker price but jacked up the total by $5,000. They did this "because they could". The car is not a quiet ride like my former CRV. The screen goes blank frequently and the smartphone disconnects randomly. Maps does the same thing. I can only listen to the radio as the static and disconnect with Pandora or other apps is frustrating to endure. The center console was poorly thought out and basically has no storage. The placement of the phone port is under the center console and hard to reach. The cup holder is also cumbersome to reach. The seats are fair. The overall ride is fair. I wish that I didn't rush to purchase. I have owned several Hondas in the past and all were reliable and comfortable to drive. Not this one.

Solid economical mini SUV

This car is really growing on me. I chose it over the Toyota because the driver position felt more upright and It has good visibility. It's underpowered for sure, but you get used to it. The fuel economy is amazing. I regularly average 34mpg at 70mph on trips across the Cascades. The electronic driving aids are absolute trash and possibly dangerous. I would have preferred a sunroof and leather wrapped steering wheel with none of the Honda Sense garbage. My only real frustration with this car is the walk away locking feature malfunctioning. A lot. More so in cold or wet weather it seems. Service doesn't want to bother with it. All in all, it's a smart little SUV that rides well on gravel roads and does amazing in the snow. Not much maintenance required, cheap to fuel, cheap to insure.

Sure this car has a lot of cargo room BUT that’s about all it has! From day one our heated seats are not even warm on high.. took it in 3 times and they say that this model was tweaked to not be so hot! Well anyone who has sat in in agrees there is NO warmth at all! The cup holders are behind you so it is difficult to grab along with that is where your arm rests… so if you want arm crap on your drink it’s great! Like the others said, the touch screen is difficult to navigate. The engine is rough and noisy. The AC is not very cold either! I give it a 2… don’t waste your money.

I’ve had my Honda HR-V EX for 3 months and have been disappointed with many things. This vehicle is plagued with creaks and rattles which to me seems unacceptable for a new car. The overall quality is not what I would have expected from Honda. The worse part of this vehicle was having my transmission go out at 1,070 miles. Honda did warranty the work but I sold this vehicle recently for a Camry. The Toyota is way better in terms of quality.

I purchased this vehicle and so far im loving how it drives! Sport mode definitely kicks it up a notch. I live in Big Bear, CA and all wheel drive is necessary especially in snowy conditions. Have yet to drive in this with snow but I definitely recommend this vehicle to anyone that wants a smaller sized SUV. More than enough space for a child or two in the backseat.

Not crazy about my new 2022 Honda HRV LX. Very choppy ride and noisy. Infotainment center is disappointing in that it will not notify me of text messages but keeps my phone from notifying me. I do like being able to listen to my music on my phone via Bluetooth. I bought the car for its looks...white with grey interior. Very pretty. Probably won't keep it long.

I bought the sport with the metallic gray and black rims and trim. It is a good looking ride. Speaking of ride, it is rough. If you are looking for a smooth ride, this isn't it. Yes, it's a little underpowered. Super fun to drive. I'm 63 and have owned a bunch of cars. This is one of my favorites. Just sayin.

It’s great on room and mileage but I’ve had many electrical problem’s. I took it back to Honda and at first they said it was the battery. When I told them I haven’t had this car for 2 years how can it be the battery! They had no answer. My daughter owns same Honda Hr-V Sport as my different color and they also changed her battery. Just a couple of weeks ago we got a recall notice for electronic problem’s. Making an appointment to take it back so they can see and fix problems because I and my daughter had gotten stranded by car not turning on. Hers even turned off on her while driving it and she called her insurance roadside assistance and they help her get it back on the road the guy said it look like is not charging her battery right…

I was a bit leery about this since some people said it wasn't comfortable, but for me it is. The seats move in various directions and it's easier to customize than my old car. Also, I don't object to the noise, it doesn't seem too noisy for me. Those were things I worried about. I do like the size of this, not too big, just big enough. The cabin has enough room for me, though if you have kids you might want to go up to the CRV. Very happy with the ride. I don't like having so many electronics, would rather have a plainer car with a regular key and regular parking brake. I drove a stick shift for most of my life, so I just like mechanical things that you can drive rather than electronic things that give you feedback. That's just me. I can't figure out how to use the presets and the manual doesn't help much since it looks different than the car. It's a EX CVT. It has quite a bit of room fo a small car/suv. It was my top car after doing a lot of research. Honda makes the best engines and it was recommended by Scotty Kilmer on youtube to get the 4 cylinder not the 6 cylinder for this car. The engine has enough pep for me so far. But I'm a more conservative driver than some. I don't know about the mileage yet, but it was rated less than the CRV, etc. I was happy to find an AWD car that's a subcompact suv, my main criterion. The one thing I'm not as happy with are the tires/wheels. They look nice, but my neighbor has those skinny tires and has had problems. I'd rather have the fatter tires. Eventually plan to get snow tires, so those may be mounted on different rims and may be fatter.

This is my first Honda (and possibly the last). Below are the reasons why I bought it and why I might not buy it again (if certain things don't change in 2023): Pros: First, this is a THING OF BEAUTY. The color of my car is "black amethyst" and -- aside from the pretentiousness -- it fits beautifully, though sometimes I just called it chocolate raspberry. It's really basically a deep purple. The lines are gorgeous and the aerodynamically designed hills and valleys very pleasing to the eye. Once on the highway, it drives like a dream. From 0-60 does NOT take 10secs. More like 4-5. But once on the road, the ride is smooth and acceleration is excellent. I have not noticed cabin noise bc I listen to my music when I'm on the highway. The storage in the back is spacious and yes the backseats fold like there's no tomorrow. I dealt with my family storage in this car and was for a while the car lady (as opposed to bag ladies!) and had a TON of boxes in there. I got rear-ended by a 19-yer old drunk driver, and those boxes and the solid build took the brunt of the impact. Car itself had no issues, and once I was ensconced in a Ford Ecosport rental, I realized just how smooth the HRV is and how easy the transmission. Another positive is that for a short person like me, the drivers seat adjusts well (however, there's a catch which I will mention soon) and the low slung hood and wide windows give me plenty of 360-vision. Now the CONS: The seat backs are VERY wierdly shaped and I found this out while trying to catch a nap in a rest area once during a 10-hr drive. The head/neck support leans forward and even with the seat inclined back, it's hell on your neck. There is also no elbow rest AND the front seat center storage is an absolute disaster. Whoever designed this area was an idiot because it forces you to buy a phone holder, whereas Honda should give you a usable and easy-to-access phone holder right under the dashboard. As it stands, there is definitely a slight sense of being lost in the maze and the drawback is having to take your eyes off the road. Things can also easily fall to the floor and never be found again if they're little enough. Don't eat in this car... esp pizza or bread. The grains and crumbs will dirty up the nooks and crannies in a heartbeat. Also, if you're driving at night and it's cold out, the windscreen fogs up no matter what you do until and unless you turn the AC on! I mean, what gives, Honda?! Seriously?! So, anyhow. I think the best thing about this car is the safety factor. It's not meant for sporty activities on windy roads (not like my old Neon Sport anyway), but it's a solid, safe "mom car" which is not ugly looking. It's actually very pretty. The worst thing about it is the lack of thought given to the front storage area for the driver, and the hatchback style trunk opening operation. If you're five-foot nothing like me, you have to stretch up on your tippy-toes, then stretch up one of your hands, and close the trunk. And that trunk door is kind of heavy and tough to open and close. Oh, and also when you're trying to unlock the trunk, it sticks and you've gotta fight with it to open it. Little things like that make you feel irritated -- never a good emotion when you're driving. Oh, and speaking of that Ford Ecosport, I really liked the lateral trunk opener... meaning, it opened like a door, not up-down. Time to rethink that trunk, Honda. And fix that heat/AC business and give us more room to store our stuff up the front!

I purchased a new 2022 HRV. Almost immediately I started having problems with the paint chipping off. Seeing how the paint was very weak, I had an aftermarket clear coat applied. When more spots of chipping were noticed, I contacted Honda and had an evaluation via the dealerships preferred body shop. Honda refuses to amend the situation. The spot on the right rear door is growing and will probably be a dime size by next year. Mind you, I have a 2005 Civic that someone put dents in the entire drivers side. The metal dented, but the paint never chipped. Tell me they haven't cheapened their product to the point of ridiculousness.

So far I have no problems with this little SUV. I like the cargo space I am still awed how much space I got. Also like how smooth it rides. Very convertible also like all the features it provides.

Great little car, it’s my daughter’s first car and is a newly licensed driver.

Comfy seats. Good view around from the driver’s seat, except for the rear head rests. Small turning radius is good. Engine accelerates ok, but don’t expect rubber on the road (quite useless). Overall, so far, a good car.

My car previous to this one was a CRV that I absolutely loved. I think that is why I do not feel safe in the HRV. It is genuinely a much smaller vehicle
