this is my first car and I absolutely love it! it's great having a safe car that will last me into my adult years too. the bluetooth is great because I can call people or change music without taking my hands off the wheel or eyes off the road.

Owned for 3 months

I've had this car for just over 3 months. And I have to say I truly love it! I knew this was the car for me from the second I sat in it. I find that the seats are very comfortable, unlike some other reviewers. I think this is just because I'm very small, while my average sized bf find it to be just ok. My only complaint is that it can occasionally get louder than my old Prius at high speeds. But it's really not even that loud.

Disappointed

The performance for the car is great, but I was totally disappointed in one area. My HRV is suppose to have voice activation regarding mobile phone usage. When I couldn't get this feature to work, even after my sales person to hook it up, I called Honda. They told me that the voice activation works with I phones and a limited no. of androids. A lot of consumers, including myself, have android phones. I feel that listing this as a feature is very misleading. I use to have a Honda Fit and had no issues with the voice activation system. I am very disappointed and feel that I was deceived.

Good little value crossover

PRO: Flexible cargo hauling and storage with the “magic seat” that can either fold flat or the bottom flips up creating enormous amount of space in the middle. This is an amazing feature that should not be overlooked if you are moving stuff a lot. Also fuel economy is not bad on the highway around, 28 mpg real world with the LX and manual transmission. CONS: The interior is noisy at highway speeds 60mpg and up Lots of leaky seals and wind noise as well as engine noise at higher speeds. I feel the fuel economy is not as good as it could be. Being a manual and a 1.8 Liter engine, I expected a solid 36mpg but is is not possible on the highway. The gearing in the manual is plain awkward. I have owned several manual transmission cars and pretty much only drive sticks because I like them. The gear ratios in the HRV are just weird. The engine is adequate for putting around town but not great for darting out nor for passing. It is a bit poochy. The fuel tank is a bit too small with the fuel range being only about 200 miles give or take. The rear wiper is not a standard size and impossible to buy online or at an auto parts store. I’ve only found a direct replacement at the dealership (expensive and inconvenient) or by cannibalizing something from the auto parts store (also not elegant or cheap) Another con is that it is impossible to tow anything- even a small trailer so forget that. I’ve seen a kit or two, but the owner manual specifically states it is not capable of safely towing or hauling anything external. Even the factory roof rack has a very low weight limit. This is not really built for any kind of external hauling, so keep this in mind if you plan this or need this functionality. I do not. Overall: Overall value is good. This is a very practical grocery getter around town and decent economy on the highway. The Honda name means it will probably give years of trouble-free service. However, this is built on the small Honda Fit platform, so don’t expect extra plushness nor any level of performance. This is a great value vehicle for the purpose which it was built: reliably and affordably hauling the kids/family/groceries around town without costly repairs.
