Used 2015 Honda CR-V EX 4dr SUV AWD (2.4L 4cyl CVT) Consumer Reviews
2015 CR-V Vibration/Shudder Issues
This is our family's 6th Honda. I am quite sure that if Honda does not come up with a fix for this terrible vibration issue it will be our last ! All, I repeat all the new "So called SUVs of the year" have this problem. At idle around 500 to 600 rpms. Then again at 1100 rpms. And again at 2200 rpms ! The rpm range that you use to run around town. On the highway it seems to do well. Please , when you test drive one make sure the vehicle is warmed up and take a service tech with you. Do not just drive around the block ! Go out for 20 minutes. Also , this wonderful new CVT makes a high pitched whining noise as you are descending a steep hill. We are very disappointed with this purchase.

Vibrates but much improved
We've had this car for over a month and I can relate to what people say about the vibration at low speeds and when stopped with engine running. I noticed the vibration when I test drove the car and didn't think much of it then and I still don't. It's worse when the car is in ECO mode. Turn ECO off and drive in Sport mode (higher RPM) and the vibration becomes minimal to non-existent. This CRV drives better than the 2014 model (More responsive in Sport mode, less lean when taking corners) and has better standard features. It's good value too. Averaging about 30 mpg in low traffic city (80%) and highway (20%) driving. Overall we are pleased with it and hope it's as reliable as my 2001 Accord
boring
Uninspired and uninspiring reliable and basic transportation. Can't say much more. Car is greatly under-powered. afraid to get on freeway entry ramps. God awful gas mileage of 17-19 shockingly low given the small engine!!! exterior design is so much like many other small suvs. Sigh18

Trading it In!
After the engine blew in my Subaru in Sept '18, I was in a hurry to purchase a new (to me) vehicle. I've had good luck in the past buying off-lease vehicles, so I decided to do that and purchase a vehicle with an excellent reputation, the 2015 Honda CRV with only 18,000 miles on it. I was thrilled and thought I had hit the jackpot. Boy, was I ever wrong. I'm just going to cut to the chase and give you the good and the bad. THE GOOD: Reliability...in the 16 months I've had the CRV, I've only had to replace the battery and have new tires put on. Honda batteries are known for premature deaths, as that's what I was told by the AAA technician who replaced it for me. There have been a lot annoying quirks to the vehicle, but I am focusing strictly on repairs and maintenance here. Design.....It's a snazzy looking vehicle in my opinion. For a small SUV, the interior is very roomy with good headroom, shoulder room, and the back seat will fit 3 average sized adults. There is also this neat feature where you pull a switch and the rear seats fold down for you, at least they're supposed to. The seats are average when it comes to comfort and the control panel is designed adequately. There are cupholders everywhere. Features...The base model that I bought came decently equipped with features. It has a backup camera (which the picture went a little funny on), and most standard features you see in today's models. Performance...the one good thing about the performance I can mention is that this vehicle can go from zero to sixty very quickly. The all wheel drive performs nicely in the snow, and living in New England, that's a plus. THE BAD: Performance...this is where I should have done my research...this vehicle rattles and vibrates like there's no tomorrow. The vibration happens mainly when you are stopped and the car is idling and the windows are down. This is a problem that I keep reading about over and over again. Also, thumping is often a problem as well. And one final annoyance is that the directional signals are tempermental. The Drive....This has been my biggest gripe about the CRV. Since day 1, I would be on the interstate and it would feel like I was driving on grooved pavement. It felt like I was driving with tires low on air. When making a turn, it always felt like something was scraping against something else (mildly) and sometimes, just the drive felt like something was scraping against something else. It was annoying to say the least. Also, when backing out of the driveway or a space, it was not uncommon for the steering wheel to shake for a second when turning the wheel after putting it in drive. While the drive was really incident-free, it always felt like something was wrong. Design... my only gripe about the design is that the stereo sound is weak. Supposedly there are six speakers, but I have to turn the volume way up most of the time. Fuel Ecomony...what started as a plus, has ended as a minus. For most of the time I've driven this car, I'd say I got about 25 city, 30 highway, which isn't bad, but LATELY this car has THIRSTY! I have no idea what's going on, but I will let the dealership that I'm trading it into deal with it. BOTTOM LINE: If you are shopping for a used, reliable, smaller SUV, and all you care about is a decent sized vehicle that will get you from point A to point B with few then the 2015 Honda CRV is a safe bet. But if you are looking for something that is fun to drive and doesn't rattle and shake all the time, then I would recommend you keep looking. All I can recommend is that you do your research and see what others have said about any contenders. I have taken the initiative to trade in my CRV this week. I am purchasing a Civic instead because this time I read rave reviews about them and I'm interested in better fuel economy.
