Love at First Ride

Began looking at Honda and Toyota sedans. On a whim, deciced to take CR-V for a test drive. Decided right then that I was going to buy a CR-V or RAV4. Doing my research & comparison, I came to appreciate the way Honda allowed the consumer to decide on the options, unlike Toyota which pre-packaged many options, bringing up the price several thousand $. I got exactly what I want for $5K less than comparable RAV4. I love the ride, handles flawlessly. I can fit in all of my dogs, including my greyhound in the back. I love the height that I sit at. 20 years ago spent $18,900 on a Crown Vic LX & it was really not a quality auto. Now I have spent only $500 more and have gotten a great quality auto!

So Far So Good

Bought my CR-V over the weekend and have driven it about 150 miles so far. Everything works well except the sunglasses holder. It takes a little push in the back after the standard push in the front that should have done the job. The car drives nice and feels solid, much tighter than the 04 Odyssey I got earlier in the year. The car feels a bit under-powered above 70 mile per hour, however it could be me missing the instant acceleration I got used to from the 2000 Accord V6 I traded in or the fact that I was unease with driving too fast while breaking in the new car. Headlights are nice and bright, now I am bothering car drivers like I used to be bothered.

What a great car...really.

I have had my CR-V for almost 3 years now and it never seems to grow old on me. For an SUV (albeit a smaller one) it has great pickup, is comfortable for all who ride in it, and is very user friendly. It takes 5 seconds to turn the backseat down and create cargo space. As someone who has moved 3 times in 3 years to places 700 miles from each other, the CR-V has been a lifesaver, not just for my moves, but on a day to day basis.

Tall drivers beware !

After about a week of driving the car my right leg began to ache where the thigh and hip come together and it eventually became excruciating. I am tall, about 6' 3" and noticed that my thighs were not resting on the seat cushion like they do in every other car I have owned or driven. Instead, they are sticking slightly off of the seat so my leg weight is on the pedals and hip joint. The problem is the seat cushion is nearly flat and not distinctly sloped backward as in other cars - a very poor ergonomic design by Honda. I have to drive the car with a folded towel under my leg to support it.

Well my third type of Honda, so far so good, 6cd changer, moon roof, lots of doggy room to boot, Will be taking this off road a lot. Don't know how it handles in snow yet, but love the comfortable ride it gives and the stereo sound.
