I invested in a Civic hybrid over an EX because the IRS tax credit, dealer discount, and annual gas savings make this almost the same price after the first year! The new Civic design is fantastic. Older generation Civics always drove rougher than Accords, but this generation handles very smooth and tight for a small car. I'm getting 44 mpg on the second tank and am learning how to drive the car for maximum mileage. I don't expect to get EPA mileage values of 49/51, but I will try. As for features the car has everything I need: navi with XM radio, steering wheel controls and voice activation, info display on dash for mpg, outside temp, trips, oil life, and total miles. Great overall car!

I purchased the vehicle without a test drive for a second car for my daughters. I previoulsy had a Matrix AWD, but could not get side curtain air bags. I have always owned Toyotas and I was completely surprised by what a great car the Civic is to drive. On the highway the wind had no affect (very stable) and the motor was extremely smooth. I love the safety features. The only complaint I have is the emergency brake is in a bad spot for tall drivers. What a thrill.

The Truth You'll Hear From Me

I love my new car. The gas mileage is supposed to be excellent: 30 in the city and 40 on the highway. I've had the car a week and still have a half tank of gas. It must be true. Gas will NEVER go down; why buy a gas guzzler? The doors are made high, which makes me feel safer. Some cars have too much glass. I wouldn't feel safe in a side collision in such a car. I'd suggest silver; it shows less dirt. White is pretty on this type of car; black, too, but blk shows dirt easier. There is a light blue which is handsome. I have mudguards. Glad to have them. The dash is cavernous. Buy a duster. This car looks more like a fine European car; what with its back-seat head restraints.

This is one great car! I love to drive it, steering is tight and it turns on a dime. Love the gas mileage - close to 30 city and 42 highway. Fit and finish are great. No problems with car. Inside and out, the styling blows the competition away! Many compliments on the way the Civic looks!!

This thing is incredible. I loved my 2003 Acura RSX-S, but this is a step up. Yes, a step UP. It has more sophisticated technology, better build quality, more of the "it" factor, and it's my daily driver. I still love my K20s, and this car is built so well around it, I am pleased to say that I've never owned a car as satisfying as this. Get the navi, you will regret it if you don't buy it.

This is my 3rd Civic (85 DX, 91 Si). For around 20K, this car is an unbeatable value. The drivetrain is incredible- smooth shifts (with the exception of 5th-6th) and the engine spins like a turbine. Rev to the top of the tach and you get a crazy rush of acceleration; its more addictive than crack. Cornering is flat and direct, the handling and the build are very tight, the stereo and interior are great (I happen to like the digital speedo), the seats are incredibly comfy, and the fuel economy has been great (two fills thus far- 27.5mpg and 29mpg avg). Top that with Honda's reputation for reliability and this is a no-brainer.

Purchased in May, already 4000 miles (two long road trips), couldn't be happier. Yes, there are faster, flashier cars out there, but for overall practicality you just can't beat the Civic. We're actually looking at getting another. It's true, close to 40 mpg on the highway, about 30 or so in town. Granted, it doesn't have the pep that some may desire, but heck, it's a 4-cylinder! The power, however, is plenty sufficient for merging onto the freeway, driving uphill, etc. And did I mention the gas mileage!? The EX of course has the sunroof as well as stereo controls on the steering wheel. The mp3 jack is a great feature as well. Honda is just doing it right. We love it.

After a wonderful ride with a Mazda Protege -- which I thought beat the pants off the old Civic -- I came back to Honda after looking at the latest iteration. The combination of gas mileage and reliability and the design of the new Civic are hard to beat. Despite my great experience with the Protege, I picked this in a close call over a Mazda 3. You couldn't go wrong with either one -- they are clearly the class of this field for styling, fit and finish, economy and value.

When I bought I never thought I had to see a mechanic again for a long time . Wrong. I had minor and major problems. Although I still love my Civic. Maybe it happens 1 in 1000 I don't know. Hope it's not a lemon. First had to go back to replace split sun visor. Then battery. ( some times when starting engines makes a zzzzzzzrrrrrr sound. And engines does not start.) dealer adviser told me battery was changed. It won't happen again. Wrong still same . But I gave up on that. Second I had to have my Civic towed to dealer with tensioner belt, tensioner bolt, water pump and don't know what else. That day I wondered myself if I had bought a lemon car.

This car is fun to drive, has a lot of sex appeal, and gets good gas milage (about 30 mpg) Quiet engine, and driving experiance. You might feel tiny at a light sitting next to a Ford F150. This was a step down for me. I owned a loaded 02 Impala LS since new. So, I added almost all assesories except front and side spoliers.I miss Traction control,Lumbar support, ONSTAR, heated seats, ashtray, lighter, heated side mirrors, but this car rides better, handles better, better fuel milage, the differance in horse power is not that notice able from a 200HP v- 6 to a 140HP DOHC 4. the Civic is surely peppy, and fun to punch the throttle open. One of my concerns will be this winter in the snow, and ice. We'll see

I love this car! Granted, it's not the fastest thing on the road, but it may be the most reliable. For the price, I don't believe you will find a nicer interior design. The main reasons I went with the Civic was reliability/price/fuel economy. So far it has either met or exceeded my expectations.

After owning a Honda Accord EX for 17 years I decided to stick with Honda and purchased a Civic EX for it's size for commuting and city parking. Don't really pay attention to the mileage, just fill it up once a week. So far quite pleased. Perfect for a petite person like me. Large and heavy might not be comfortable. Could have a little more pep and drivers seat could be more comfortable. Gauges are well within reach. Nice size trunk. Don't like the headrest, wish it was adjustable.

Honda has kept with their roots and made the most impressive car in its class. there are a few cars that may go faster becasue of larger engines and/or turbos. this 2.0 dohc i-vtec engine screams all the way to 8000 rpms and will smoke the competion that hasnt cheated by adding v6 or forced induction motors. The torgue is low for a performace car, but nontheless the car is zippy and the speed sneaks up on you. The 6 speed has short gears and pulls in all of them. The interior is very unique and some may not like it, but I feel right at home. It's a performance car, not meant for the average driver. Obviously I just got this car, so I cant say how the reliablitly is, but it's a Honda..enough said.

I went shopping for the LX or EX, but when I sampled the Si my mind was made up. I've driven 2,000 miles in the three weeks I've had it so far and am very impressed with the car. I was drawn to the Civic line due to the quality, reliability, and safety. I fell for the Si because it suits this accountant who has a fun side in addition to a toddler. The interior has really grown on me and I find everything very easy to use. The seats are outstanding, great for trips and sporting. Transmission is superb as is the steering communication. This engine requires a driver who pays attention though. Great overall room, functionality, and value. Beats Mazda 3, VW GTI, Cobalt SS.

I have about 5000 miles on my Civic hybrid already and I am averaging 55MPG according to my calculations, and 53MPG according to the on board computer. I drive mainly highway miles with a little city. Car is grear, fun to drive, and handles great, and being able to drive 600 miles on one tank is awesome. Much better handling than the Prius, although I think it has a little better pick-up.

I have owned this Civic for 2 years. I love the handling of this car. It hugs the road, the dash , but the seats are very uncomfortable. The complaint I have heard of others about Hondas is comfort only. It is reliable, is great on road & gas mileage, but if you like comfort the seats won't do it for you. Too bad Honda can't figure out how the torso would be more comfy in their seats- the only drawback.

We purchased this car used when the fuel prices were so high. Would have loved the Accord, but had to have the gas savings as I drive 40 miles 1 way to work. Disturbing to have loud road noise shortly after buying it & it was the rear control arms that also ruined the rear tires. Also had the visor break. Honda did take care of the problem, but now worried if we made a good decision buying a Honda. Fairly comfortable car but we were used to the ease of getting in/out of an small SUV.

I love my Honda! Its great for going on little adventures to far towns... The gas mileage is awesome...My 4 cly gets up and goes good and I LOVE MY NAVIGATION! I use it all the time! Its got me out of being lost many times LOL! Its a great car for people in the 18-30 range and not past 6 foot... The windshield is huge and its very aero dynamic which I seriously think it helps with better gas mileage but im not sure. I did have the defective sun visors and it stinks! Especially in sunny Arizona.

This Civic (07 Lx coupe, 5 speed trans) is fun to drive, peppy, has no problems handling the Ozark mountains, at or above the speed limits. Is stylish gets very good gas mileage, but the seats headrest sticks out to much and always seems to bump into the back of my head. Also the a/c vent for the driver is almost directly behind the steering wheel which blows cold air onto your hand. 2 very minor things. You get a great little car for a reasonable price

My SI sedan came with a leather interior. Yes, the car is noisy, it is designed to be that way. I got rid of a lot of the booming by lining the trunk, the doors and part of the floorboard with RAAMmat. The left front fender is designed to be an acoustic amplifier for the intake. This became apparent when the exhaust noise was dampened. My third gear was sticky. I replaced the oil with Royal Purple and it is perfect now. When I leave from a standing stop, sometimes, the steering wheel lurches to the right. Also, sometimes, I hear a popping noise from the left front wheel. All in all, a disappointing car.

While aerodynamic and, therefore, economical, I'm not sure the design team tried to parallel park this car or do any mundane tasks. It is impossible to "see"any corners when parking. Today I tried to replace my NYS registration sticker in the lower left corner of the front window. I am going to have to make a trip to the dealer's to get the old sticker glue off as I cannot get my hand/fingers in to razor off the old glue.Guess I should add the extra trip to my gas mileage rating! Perhaps Consumer Reports should hire non-car people to review cars. This is my 3rd Honda Civic and MY LAST. Wish I could get a call from the design team or Consumer Reports. I fill them in on practical concerns.

I was driving an '00 Ford Escort and when I read the "noisy ride" Consumer Reports comments, I worried about the noise level. Alas, the Civic Hybrid is comparatively silent! I am getting 50+ MPG in town (flat Florida) with AC off, 47 with AC on. On the drive home from Ohio, I got 48. The transmission is so smooth I never notice the "shift". Wife (leadfoot) loves the speedometer placed right in the line of vision with big, well lit numerals. Braking is satisfactory (Accord is better). Acceleration surprisingly adequate but if you lead foot it, you pay in the MPG dept. The seats are OK. It's really fun to see how your driving habits affect your fuel economy (MPG display).

This car has exceeded my expectations. I have a lengthy commute (100 miles a day) and needed a car with good gas mileage. Gas mileage has been holding at 48 mpg for mixture of interstate, highway and city miles. At 55 MPH on the relatively flat Florida roads I can get about 55ish MPG. The Civic Hybrid exceeded my expectations in two main areas. First, it accelerates a little better than I expected. Maybe it just feels like it to me, who knows. The next area I was impressed with still amazes me. There is an incredible amount of room in the front seat! I'm 6'2" 230 lbs used to a full size pickup truck but this car has tons of head room, shoulder room and my seat isn't all the way back! Wow.

I was deliberating whether I should go "green" and get the Prius. I test drove the Prius. Nothing exciting, just thought it was cool that I could potentially save lots of gas. But it seemed to struggle a bit going uphill, so that made me doubt. Then I test drove this Civic 4 door LX AT. I was instantly in love. I had a 1997 4 door LX that broke down recently, just under 200,000. Anyway, the thing that caught me was that this thing has 140 horses! I could accelerate, even when going uphill, and I felt confident that I could pass anyone if necessary. But the 30/40 mpg, that was it for me. I saved about $3k versus the Prius, decent mpg, and I love the extra horses!

I have people walk up to me and tell me I ahve a very good looking car, or man you have a sharp car. I love the way it handles and I have a sedan too. The sound system is great. The only thing is, I wish they would have put a wider tire on the car. I am in the process of changing my rims and tires as soon as the funds come available. I have the color Gray color. I am very pleased with my car. The shifting is the best I have ever handled and the get up andg Go (hang on) I just love my car.

I love this little car. It is super easy to maneuver and so fun to drive. My only complaint is that it is a little underpowered for highway driving. There is plenty of power for city driving however. But that is the sacrifice you make when you buy the hybrid. But I do get 52mpg on the highway! City driving is more around 40 to 41mpg. Arlington in quite the hilly county so I am not surprised the actual mileage in city is not higher. I also love this car because at 6'3 the car is quite accomodating but I do have to have my seat all the way back. That means that the people sitting behind me are more than a tad cramped. Ergonomics are great and everything is within reach.

I have had the Si sedan for five months now and I love it. I wanted a new car that was fun to drive yet practical because I am married and have two kids, 6 and 4. The Si sedan was the sportiest car I could afford and still use to take the kids on errands, games, etc. Thus far I have had no problems with the car. Although it is probably better suited for drives down windy country roads, it works fine driving around Chicago. On a few occasions I've been able to open it up down Lake Shore Drive and you can really feel wth VTEC kick in. Great handling in corners and curves. Safety features such as plenty of air bags great to have with kids in the car.

I bought the Civic for my 80 mile round trip commute every day. It does the job very well but there have been a few issues that I didn't expect from a Honda (this is my first). The air conditioning failed (due to road debris?). Not covered by warranty for some reason. The tires wore out very fast and unevenly (upper rear control arms were replaced per tsb but not the tires). There were two recalls, one for rear bearings and the other for water pump pulley cracking. A rattle in the rear deck I fixed myself with foam rubber. Overall not bad, but more problems than I would expect from a new car. Still it is a competent commuter car and hasn't ever left me stranded.

Sheet metal is very thin, going through a carwash sounds like the roof is going to blow off. Paint quality is low, scratches / chips easily. After 32K miles I am getting rust on the the front of the hood. Wet and dry traction is good, but winter driving is poor, car does not hold the road well at highway speeds, even with additional weight. Weatherstrip on rear doors has fallen off a couple times. Glad to have only leased the vehicle and not purchased it. Gas mileage was listed at 28/40 , but average is about 30, with 70% highway miles. Highway mileage is mid 30's when driving with traffic.

Also, I owned a 98 civic LX and when I traded it in it still has a lot of life left. Honda's can easily reach 200,000 miles and keep on running! I was looking for a new car under 30k. Mazdaspeed3,08 Lancer and Nissan Sentra were also considered but Honda's resale value, reliability and superb handling made it my favorite. There's really no better car out there for this price. This car is so great on the road. The 6 spd gearbox is buttery- smooth. I havent experienced any problems with 3rd gear as many have. The revhang issue is easy to get used to. It doesnt affect my drive. Low end torque is there but once you hit 2nd and get to the magical 6k rpms where vtec takes over, it'll put a smile on your face. I don't get tired of it. Exhaust note is a charm. You have to get it with the Navi. Avg.gas mileage is 27mpg. Best 31.5mpg Worst 18mpg

If you drive with gas saving in mind, slowly & patiently this car is for you. Little bit of a stiff ride, but seats are comfy. CVT takes a little bit to get used to. Been accustomed to having a vehicle shift to each gear, now this cvt is shiftless just the one gear constantly adjusting for best fuel mileage. Power is what you should expect from a hybrid. I think my lawn mower has more get up and go. Steers like a charm and no complaints yet. I honestly drive like a grandpa. This car suits me very well. Performance is not this vehicle by any means. I've owned a Camaro with a LS1 engine, I know power and paying for it at the pump.

I've had my Civic for over 2 years and I absolutely love it! Of course, like every car, it has its quirks, but all in all it's a great car. 40,000 rolled up last week, and it's still tight as a drum. It does have several rattles, but they have gone away with time. I LOVE that I only have to change the oil about every 6,500 miles rather than 3,000 (the Maintenance Minder system even tells you when it's time to change the oil). I have the coupe, and the trunk is surprisingly roomy. I do about 90% city driving and get about 34-36 MPG. The car also holds up well in accidents; I've been rear ended and clipped in the front, and both times the car had less than $500 worth of damage.

I went from a Yukon Denali to a Honda Civic as my main vehicle with no problem. I was hooked on a Honda once I drove my friend's Accord several times. It felt heavy and handled the road well even though it had over 125,000 miles. I am very pleased with my purchase of a Honda Civic.

Quality not what I expected from a Honda

I sold my 1997 Civic LX 4-d to get this car, and it's worlds better. The only problem is that this car has a lot of noise. Road noise is common in small cars, but there are so many shakes and rattles, that I'm gonna have to get them fixed by the dealer when I take it in to get its first oil change. The sub rattles the back parcel shelf, the pass. seat frame rattles, there is a whistling noise coming through the windshield, and the handles on the roof rattle. Other than that, only small complaints, like how the rear end collects a lot of dust, and how I have to adjust my seat all the way down so that my head doesnt brush the roof (I'm 5.10).

Bought my Civic LX 4dr in June of 06. It now has 6000 miles. This vehicle suffers from front wheel spin, a bumpy ride (considering its lack of performance) but gets really good gas mileage. I get between 25-26 mpg in the city and 35-26 hwy. The seats are more comfortable over time. Great paint job. Overall, a good buy & much better for the environment than the Mazda3.

I've owned Lexus, BMW, Toyota as well as various other cars. Thus far my 2007 Honda Si sedan has been the best purchase I've made. This car seems to keep on surprising me. It's fun to drive and has remarkable accelleration. It's just plain fun to drive as well as beening a serious eye catcher. All this for around $20k? Who in their right mind wouldn't want it? This car simply rocks!

The Civic SI has grown up, and so have I (....sort of). I recently purchased (3/08) a 2007 left over Civic SI sedan . I sold my 2005 Civic SI Hatchback. It was a great car. the 2007 has improved all of the features that I didn't like in the 2005 such as: less aggressive racing seats, adding a 6th gear, larger rims, and an armrest (front & rear). The 2007 is fast & can still can zig-zag through corners like a cars twice its price. The exhaust has a nice throaty sound.

Love This Car!!

I have only had my hybrid for a month now and I love it. I'm averaging about 43 mpg (have 1700 miles on it already) and am very pleased with the performance. The car handles well, is fun to drive and the navi system and XM radio are fantastic features. I got a great deal on this car and it has been worth every penny so far. If I had to say anything negative about it, it would be the lack of lumbar support, but the seats aren't that bad compared to the 98 Jetta I was driving. The other surprising thing about this car is how much interior room there is. My Jetta was a bigger car, but had less room inside. Definitely a plus. If you are thinking about getting this car, DO IT.

I have had my civic for a little over a year now. I go 80 miles/day round trip for work, mostly highway and I am getting 37-39 mpg. Definitely not much "spunk" but I bought it for the MPG not its performance so I am happy!

Good car fun to drive love it and love the looks I get in it. I'm 23 years old first car I have bought, not gonna mod it out. But have replaced intake with Injen Cold air intake and put in my own diamond mesh grill. Good car would recommend for anyone. Only problem is there needs to be more power, other cars in its class have more power, cobalt SS turbo is around 260 hp, and lancer ralliart is around 237 hp. only car it really beats out in its class is the Nissan Sentra R. Sound system is good but subwoofer and interior is great but it attracts lint like no other.

I have to start with commenting on some reviews posted. If you are 6 ft tall or over and you are complaining that the car is too small that is your fault. You should have seen that. That's why they have Accords. I will also say that I am 4'11. I have no problems with the size of the car. I love the way it looks, I love the digital speedometer. I will say that it isn't the most comfortable of cars for a long drive. I do have back problems and after being in the car for 2 or 3 hours nonstop i start to stiffen up. I don't regularly make long trips though. I also am not terribly happy with the road noise but I know a lot of that is because it's a lightweight car. Overall, it's a great car.

I've owned this car for a very exciting 17 hours now! Looks awesome, very smooth and quiet ride (engine revs pretty low even on highways), very comfortable interior, very handy steering wheel audio controls (for audiophiles like me), great Premium sound system w/ sub, XM is great to have, haven't tried nav yet, haven't tried sunroof yet. Definitely could use more hp, but this is an economy car so that's ok. Great overall ride and comfort, very good value for your money. Perfect car for high school/college kids or an entry level working man like me! I definitely think this car has got it all. If you're car-shopping with about $18000 to $22000 to spend, you must check this car out.

The Right Choice

I've had the Civic Hybrid for a month, and I'm very pleased with its mileage (43 MPG over all), its comfort, its stereo, and its features. I thought about a Prius, but the Civic is better- -and a better buy. It's standard features are better--and you don't rack up another 3K in price to get good features. I used Edmunds to get a read, and these reviews really helped me. For example, at 6'1', I needed more leg room--and got it with the Civic. And golf clubs fit right in the trunk. Two kids in the back very comfortably. I drove an Accord in high school, and this Civic is the same size--very cool. Pick up is great when needed; but it's mileage gauge teaches you to be a smarter with gas.

Purchased new 2 years ago. Previously had a 2001 Civic, and the gas mileage is slightly less, but this is a much better car with more power. Average 30 MPG town, about 36-40 hwy. Only problem was driver window came off track, but dealer repaired at no charge. Have 41K miles on it, very reliable, excellent in traffic. Highly recommended, if you are looking for a low cost, economy car with a lot of safety features.

I just bought my first Civic and love it! It fits me better than any car I have ever driven and is so fun to drive. Honda has done a great job with lumbar supports in the seat, the interior design with smooth metallic buttons instead of cheap plastic dials, and cruise controls in the steering wheel. The engine is very quiet and peppy. The split display with blue lighting is easy on the eyes and the more I drive it, the more I like having the spedometer at eye level. I drive about 3000 miles a month and am getting 38 miles a gallon this first month. I like the wide view from the windshield and how it comfortably fit four adults. I highly reccommend this car!
