We purchased the car new in August of 2016. Since then we have logged 18000 miles at an average of 42 mpg. The only feature we don't really like, but are willing to put up with to get the engine/power train we wanted, is the lack of rear fold down seats, which I believe is "fixed" on the 2018 models. On hard acceleration the engine makes itself known but with normal driving one hardly knows it is there. Using Apple Car Play to get the navigation system is a bit awkward but worth it given the expense of the built in system. We really would prefer knobs to the touch screen. Last July while driving to Boise our sunroof exploded for no reason. We were lucky to have the inner shade closed so we werent showered with broken glass. Overall we are pleased with the car and hope that the innovative power train design proves to be as reliable as the one used by Toyota. It is difficult to understand why one doesn't see more Hybrid Accords on the road? If I were buying again I would also consider a hybrid Camry.

Great car! My only complaints are: Lane departure doesn't seem to read properly so I turned it off. Went off constantly when I was well within my lane. Chalk it up to buggy new tech perhaps. The "brake" warning feature is nearly as unreliable. Interior engine noise during acceleration is a bit loud. The audio touchscreen buttons are a tad small, making touching accurately while driving a bit tedious. That said, excellent gas mileage coupled with plenty of power. Very well appointed vehicle. Only 2 months in and very happy thus far.

Comfortable Roomy with Fantastic fuel economy

Comfort, reliability and fuel economy are my main concerns. So when I shopped for a new car that's what I looked for. After owning 2 Hondas and 2 Acuras which were bullet proof I leaned towards Honda. I decided on the 2017 Accord hybrid and bought it new. Since then I've taken it on several long trips. Many cars after 3 to 4 hours leave you fatigued and usually an achy back. It has ample leg room and the steering wheel telescopes which lets you adjust the ergonomics exactly to your liking. This Accord has been the most comfortable car since I drove a Cadillac back in the 90s and those are renowned for being comfortable. The advertised mileage is 49/50. I'm not there yet but over the course of 6 months I'm averaging 41.3 city/hwy combined. About 80% of my driving is city. For a car that sits 5 and 4 comfortably this is amazing. My previous '03 Acura TL only averaged 16 mpg. The car uses a 4 cylinder engine assisted by two electric motors which give it extra boost during acceleration and give it great mileage. Their is some unwanted engine noise under hard acceleration but then this isn't a Lexus. Visibility all around is excellent and so is the backup camera. My only gripe with the car are the radio controls. I would prefer the old style dial buttons for volume and tuning. Lastly because gas is relatively cheap many people aren't interested in hybrids now which gives the buyer an advantage. I paid 28K plus tax.

First off, do your research. While this is a great car for us, it may not be what you are looking for, as all hybrids are not created equal. Also, don't be afraid to take your research and whip it out during the negotiation. With that being said, this car has met or exceeded everything we were looking for in a vehicle. My wife drives 92 miles round trip to and from work daily, so our number one priority was excellent mileage wrapped in a comfortable, entertaining, package. We had a 2012 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, and my wife really tried to like that car, but after the last repair; replacing a $28 A/C sensor which was located behind the dash, so $925 in labor, she cried uncle. She has been driving the car for a month now and she actually looks forward to her daily commute. We looked at the Mazda 6, which is also a great car, plus has the looks, but the hybrids mileage made this a no-brainer. The seats are comfortable, the interior is well put together, and for us trunk space is fine. On short trips around town, this thing gets 48 mpg easy, and just checking the odometer my wife is averaging 43.5 mpg, and between us, she is what you would call an aggressive driver(wink, wink). Get this car, you will never regret it.

Honda Accord Hybrid May Be Best Value Honda

I wasn't planning to buy an Accord Hybrid sedan. I was deciding between a 2018 Sport or EX, and casually inquired about the price of a Hybrid. To my shock, a 2017 EX-L Hybrid was only $26,500, about the same as a new Sport and and $750 less than a new EX. That price is at least $6000 off sticker price, so it was a deal too good to pass up. I've owned a 2007 Civic Hybrid and a 2014 Toyota Prius, so hybrids are not new to me. I bought the car without too much analysis up-front, but have studied it more after buying it two weeks ago and putting about 900 miles on it. From an gas-electronic analysis, the transition between electric and gas motors are seamless. You can tell by sound which motors are invoked, but the car doesn't jerk when switching modes. Other than the information display indicating which motor(s) are active, you might not even know. I tested the car through one tank without Eco Mode on and got about 45 mpg in mixed driving. Within Eco Mode on, I'm getting 48 or better in cool to cold weather. The digital dash displays take a little training to understand what all the icons and bar indicators mean, but that plays into a hybrid owners love of such a car (more on this in a minute). This redesigned hybrid for 2017 has a combined 212 horsepower, and combined with a midsize car, you won't believe you can get the stated 48/47 mpg until you see it for yourself. Those Honda engineers have really outdone themselves. The Sport mode is extra peppy and a nice treat for revving the engine up for acceleration. The eCVT transmission still doesn't jerk between gear ratios for a really smooth ride. I traded in a 2015 Accord EX for this hybrid and can tell definite improvement in the suspension and steering between this 2017 and my 2015. The leather interior is black, my first ever black interior. I'm loving the heated seats in cold weather. Not sure how I'll like them in summer when it's 100 degrees in the cabin after sitting in the sun, but the seats have ventilation holes that might make them a bit less scorching. I'll report on the summer comfort of black leather at a later date. The dual video screens take a bit getting used to. The EX-L has Apple Play integration which I love. With that said, it's a bit finicky to work with. I've had a podcast app go quiet through the system after shutting the car off and trying to resume the same podcast later after reconnecting the phone. The navigation of the video screen is not intuitive, but you will learn the main menu paths pretty quickly. I know which options I'll be picking most often, so the lack of intuitiveness is not a show stopper. The touch volume control is not preferred over a physical knob, but I can live with it and the steering controls. The XM radio is a welcome addition, but still deciding if I'll continue to subscribe after the trial. With the 2017 hybrid, you lose the fold-down seat capability compared to the gas Accord, so that's a small drawback. The car feels very solid and well-built. Time will tell how the mechanicals hold up over the long haul, but I have a good feeling that it will be reliable. Some other reviewers have complained about Hybrid reliability and have had many issues with the systems. With my two previous hybrids I did not ever have mechanical failures of the hybrid technology or gas engine components. I will update my experience with the car as I drive it further. The Eco Score on the MIDI is nice, but a little hard to figure out until you read the owner's manual; it is both a current drive and lifetime score of hybrid efficiency. As far as all the information provided for gas mileage rankings and driver information, I'll say that I'm the perfect type of owner for a hybrid because I like playing the game of getting the best possible gas mileage in a car. Many drivers might be happy just to get 150% better mpg than a gas equivalent model, but I think a lot of hybrid owners like the challenge of driving for ideal gas mileage with every tankful. It's a game of sorts, and the numerous gauges and measures keep the driving informed of their success if squeezing every drop out of the gas tank. Range on a tank of gas is around 700 miles, so you'll be spending a lot less time at the gas pump with this car. Very happy with my impulse purchase! Update December 2019: After two years of ownership and 25,000 miles, I am still just as happy with this car as the day I bought it. No mechanical issues, gas mileage averages 42 mpg in winter, 53 mpg in summer. Gas range on a tank is 650-725 miles, although I could squeak a little more out if I tried. Love the amenities like Apple Car Play and two video screens for info. The 2020’s look great and have a full trunk. The 2017's only real drawback in a small trunk and no fold down seats.
