Worse purchase I’ve made to date!!!

2021 GMC Yukon Denali 4dr SUV 4WD (6.2L 8cyl 10A)

I purchased a new 2021 Yukon Denali with every possible option. At 3,500k miles, the engine threw a cam rod that was either over tightened or under tighten according to the dealer. It went into limp mode and it was all I could do to make it to a dealership because GMC would not pay to have it towed and OnStar wanted to charge a arm and a leg and said GMC would reimburse me. The air ride suspension is stuck on the lowest setting and is going in tomorrow for the second time to be fixed. I have no suspension at the moment it feels like and is not safe to drive in heavy rains as well as changes the road contour make you feel u ran over a log. It’s embarrassing to have a 90k vehicle that the tires scrub going up a hill or speed bump. It’s like driving with no suspension. The rear entertainment system randomly turns on going down the road and is annoying at night. The running boards some times work and other times try to close while you are on them as if they are going to break your ankle. The safety restrain display has been reset 4 times by the dealer and it’s just a matter of time before it comes back on a million times driving down the road. While driving, the GPS decides to reboot and will not let you back in until you stop driving. Apple Car Play needs serious work, sometimes it reads my phone, some times it shows me text messages and sometimes it randomly plays a podcast or iTunes while I am listening to Sirius XM. The idler pulley bearings went out and that was the most annoying 2 weeks of owning the SUV from the high pitch whine. No dealer could see me for almost 2 weeks from being backed up. When it rains the plastic strip that keeps trash out of the gutter pops and smacks which is incredibly annoying going down the road and having to explain to others on the phone what the noise is. The sunroof had a bad seal and started leaking as well in downpours. If this SUV didn’t have all the problems it would be nice! But at the moment it is a Lemon and with low vehicle inventory looks like I am stuck with it for the for seeable future. The other sad part, no dealership has courtesy vehicles at the moment and the last two times it’s been in I’ve had to rent a rental car from the local Enterprise to be able to operate my small business. Tomorrow will make the 6th time it’s been in to the shop for work. I’ve had the SUV 10 months being October 2021 from my January 2021 purchase, and it’s spent over a month in the shop being worked on. When I first got my Denali, a business associate that loved mine so much went and purchased one as well. Took 3 months to come in and after 5,000k miles he had a bad engine that needed to be rebuilt that left him stuck coming home on vacation. I’ve only met one person locally happy with their purchase and ironically they had only owned their's a month. Just wait, the problems will come and once you are out of warranty you are stuck with it!

2021 Yukon Denali Dream Ride

After driving my 2003 Yukon Denali to 250,000 miles (and it’s still running fine), I decided to lease the new 2021. I took possession of it 3 hours after it was off the transport hauler on July 31st, 2020 and have loved all of it. It was bigger and boxier than the 2003 but now has more amenities and some good ones were removed. I’ve driven it over 7,000 miles since the date I took possession of it. A couple of the very simple things were removed from the 2003 that I feel were essential and “Denali worthy”: one was the dual visors. When I drive the Denali over the mountain every day, now every twist and turn I am constantly rotating the visor! Plus, there are large enough gaps to the left and right of the visor that let in blinding sunlight. The visor feels short. But if they’d have kept the dual visors-one that rotates to the left AND has an extension piece, and one inner one that you can flap down and slide side to side, I wouldn’t constantly be dealing with the visor. And you must use your right hand to go into the visor well to make it come down and move. There’s nothing on the left hand side to grab it. The other thing I greatly miss is the ability to move the gas pedal toward me to make it more reachable. I miss the simple hands free OnStar calling. I haven’t quite mastered the car play. It seems I have to plug in the iPhone to hook up car play but it could be operator error. I have a case on the phone that won’t let the phone charge in the charging well. Maybe if I removed the cover, it would charge and hook up car play. So much to learn about this vehicle! I bought it to be able to tow. I haven’t had any issues except an engine light once. Drove into the dealership and the system analytics showed nothing was amiss so they reset it. Now I need to get all weather tires so I can hit the snow. I love the white frost and light interior, large panel sunroof, easy fold down seats (got the bench second row for our big dog) and the many features this SUV has. I’m sorry to hear about others’ issues with lemon cars. Hoping I lucked out and got one of the good ones.

We’ve had our Yukon Denali for a little over a week now. Compared to our previous 2016 Yukon XL SLT, it drives and rides smoother and quieter. The seats are comfortable and there is plenty of leg room. The multiple cameras give excellent views all around the vehicle and the Apple Car Play is a nice addition. My only complaint is, the passenger assist handle is located above the passenger door, while on the SLE & SLT models, it’s on the A pillar. For a passenger with disabilities, the A pillar location is much easier to use.

Needed new engine after about 5,700 miles. Then that engine broke and needed THIRD engine. Was in shop for over 2 months. Took hours of my time speaking with GM to get this car out of my life.
