Engine light went on and they replaced the sensor. Week later same problem. In the hands of Detroit. They don’t know what to do.

Very comfortable interior. Solid stable ride. Console electronics take a little getting used to. Not a meaty sound but gets up and goes with the turbo. Perfect for odd jobs around the town. With reported tow capacity of 7000 lbs, should be sufficient to pull out and transport 3500 lb boat and trailer.

2020 Ford Ranger Lariat 4dr Crew Cab 4WD SB (2.3L 4cyl Turbo 10A)

Just traded 2020 Lariat with 10000 miles. AC never worked correctly, blew cool air never cold. Audio went out so GPS, Bluetooth didn't work. The suspension is very loose, felt like tires were going to fall off. Didn't like cup holder location, minor but still a pain. The B&O sound system sounded good when it worked. Ended up with 2021 Tocoma. Have no confidence in the reliability of Ranger.

Bought my 2020 Ford Ranger XLT Supercrew cab 4x4 new on 10/31/20. I traded in my 2018 Mustang GT 6 speed manual, that I loved because I was traveling alot from Florida to upstate NY, to see my grandchildren, 1300 miles each way, ten times in 2021. I bought it because I would have to drive in the snow at Christmas time and a Mustang is not a vehicle to drive in the snow ! I had the Ranger service regularly, oil and filter as well as tire rotation, every 3 - 5K miles. I started to noticed a high pitched squeal coming from beneath the car, almost like a brake sensor or wheel bearing, at around 20K. It would come and go but very loud when it did happen, which was most of the time. I brought it back to the dealer. They told me they had good news and bad news. The good news is that it wasnt the brakes. The bad news was that it was either the transmission or transfer case ! But they couldnt fix it I was told even though it was still under warranty ! I was told they didnt have a transmission tech anymore. I asked, what am I supposed to do ? I was told to call around to other Ford dealers. But dont call the 4 closest Ford dealers in my area {Treasure Coast of southern Florida} because they dont have a transmission tech either ! I spoke to customer service at Ford headquarters, many times. They tried to set something up with a dealer over an hour away, supposedly. I told the rep that I would be willing to leave my truck for a month if they needed me to, BUT, I would need a loaner, with AWD, as I was heading back to upstate NY to spend Christmas with my grandchildren, wife , and daughter. Supposedly, it was all set up. I called the dealer where it was set up, and they knew nothing about it ! In addition, they wouldnt be able to check the truck out until the middle of January at the earliest ! Also, they didnt have any loaner cars available, didnt have any AWD loaner cars available, and if they did, they wouldnt loan it to me anyway because I would be taking the vehicle out of state, which they dont allow, supposedly. I went through 2 weeks of hell trying to get this problem solved, calling many dealers, lemon law lawyers, and even went to a transmission place to see what they could do. The owner of the shop used to be the transmission specialist at the Ford dealer where I bought the Ranger. He went on his computer to see if there were any service bulletins about the problem. Sure enough there was ! The bulletin listed all the parts necessary for the repair and the directions how to do it. I asked him, IF I had the work done by him, approximately, how much would it cost me. He said the parts would probably cost $1000 and the labor at least $1000. I didnt have him do anything to the truck, but called Ford customer service for the 1 millionth time to run it by them, if I had the work done by a professional transmission shop, with an excellent reputation, would Ford reimburse me for the cost. Absolutely not ! AGAIN, I asked them, what am I supposed to do then ? My family is waiting for me to spend Christmas with them in upstate NY, which is why I traded in my beloved Mustang, so I had a 4 wheel drive vehicle to drive if I hit snow ! I was told by the Ford customer service rep, and 2 Ford dealer service department reps, that I should drive the vehicle up to NY and back, 2600 miles total, and it should be ok. And when I get back, make sure I take it to a dealer that has a transmission tech ! I said, I dont feel comfortable doing that at all. What if I break down in Georgia in the middle of the night, on the interstate ? I was told, by all 3 sources, that I have a roadside breakdown assistance with my warranty and they will come and tow it to a dealer ! Really ??? What if there are no transmission techs at the Ford dealers where I break down ? What if they dont have any loaners available too ? What am I supposed to do ? I told Ford that you should no longer be offering a warranty on the cars they sell because they are not honoring the warranty at all. Plus, several dealers have told me that they have numerous 2019-2020 Ford Rangers, as well as 2020 F150s and even 2020 Mustangs with the 10 speed automatic with the same exact problem !! Good bye Ford, you just lost a loyal 40 year customer !!
