Luv my 2013 Fusion
I have the 1.6L Ecoboost. MPG is 33-35 hwy, as advertised. Have zero complaints. Fun to drive, quiet, comfortable, and damn it looks good. Would recommend a new Fusion to anybody looking big bang for the buck in a midsized sedan. There was no choice on this review for the 1.6L Ecoboost engine so, I wrote the review here. I have owned my Fusion for 3 years now and love it just as much today as I did the day I bought it. It has been a problem free car. It was such a good car that I recently traded it for a 2017 Fusion Platinum!!

RUST PROBLEMS
I bought the 2013 Fusion because of the new style and fuel economy... However I wish I knew about the rust issues. My car has less than 36k on it and has been garage kept as much as possible. I wash it regularly and was it no less than twice a year. But my hood is rusting at about a dozen locations (no chips in paint) and Northgate Ford in Cincinnati Ohio told me "it's a known problem with the fusion and multiple other Ford vehicles. However since it's over 3 years old and hasn't gotten holes in the metal (YET) that it's MY PROBLEM. Nor did they want to even look at it. I feel like Ford is using the same metal they used in the 1970-1980's that would rust to the ground in less than 10 years, salt or not. Funny how Chevy or all of the Asian vehicles don't have this PROBLEMS! 2021 update: almost 60k and haven’t had any major mechanical issues yet. However I STRONGLY RECOMMEND changing the transmission fluid every 30k miles as mine was BLACK when changed just before 50k. Rear brakes wore out before the front brakes which was new to me, the front alway seem to wear out faster. The aluminum body part cancer hasn’t gotten any worse, but still bothers me. Gas mileage isn’t what it should be, I average 23+\- mixed driving, while a 2014 Focus gets 30 mpg mixed driving as well. The SYNC system and other electronic issues are a intermittent problem, I’ve had to take it into a dealership to reset after resetting the system myself. The car is about 8 years old with low mileage, but I can tell that the struts will need to be replaced based on road feel. The engine cooling system struggles to keep the system cool on very hot humid days when highway driving. I intend to keep it for at least another 5+ years as it’s been comfortable and pretty problem free (so far😬)

Ecoboost made the difference
2013 fusion se with 1.6 ecoboost. Great gas mileage. 36 highway with a fully loaded car.transmission is shifty at times but mostly great. Very comfortable for long trips and commutes.we loved our fusion.test drove it with a friend 6ft 5 in the backseat.plenty of leg room. Update 100000 mile mark no issues other than a coolant bypass valve(dealer install around 200). Love it so much we bought another one.

Major engine problems at only 70 thousand miles
Do NOT buy if you don’t want a money pit. Dealership was extremely unhelpful with most recent problems. My husband and I both own Ford 2013 Fusions. They are the 4 door Sedan 2.5L. Loved the car at first but at only 70,000 miles, his entire catalytic converter system went. It was covered under warranty because it was under 75,000 miles, but then my transmission went at only 89,000 miles and when I took it to the dealership they said my extended warranty that I had bought had expired at 75,000 miles so it wasn’t covered. My husband DIDNT BUY an extended warranty, and he had the same 75,000 miles warranty/coverage that I had without paying extra money each month for an “extended warranty”. $2800 later and a rebuilt transmission, my Ford is back at the transmission shop because after putting only 200 miles on it, I started to have the SAME transmission problems (car shifts super hard/hesitates/jumps when changing gears, shifts super hard into reverse, etc). We are a paycheck to paycheck family so this transmission fix alone completely depleted any savings we had and Ford is doing nothing about it even though after speaking with other owners and reading numerous reviews, this transmission problem is so common people have been asking for a recall for years. We will NEVER buy a Ford again and are disgusted. Trying to get rid of both cars ASAP for a Toyota or other make we can rely on. Very disappointed. Just wanted to warn everyone so you don’t end up in our situation; no money and no reliable vehicle. Update: Had to get rid of the car because they could not fix the transmission. My husband now has had his catalytic converter replaced for the FIFTH time and he only has 90,000 miles. A catalytic converter is supposed to last until 150,000 in most vehicles and replacing it FIVE TIMES is nearly unheard of, especially before it even hits 100,000. Our mechanic told us to get rid of the car ASAP; his niece also had the same make and model and had to take it back to the dealership repeatedly for them to tell her the vehicle had “internal engine issues” and they could not fix it or figure it out. We will NEVER buy another Ford ever again; you couldn’t even pay us to drive one at this point. They are nothing but a horrible headache and money pit.

Pieces falling off
I was considering buying a 2013 Ford Fusion, so I went to the dealership to test drive it. I brought two friends with me, who sat in the backseat during the test drive. When we got out of the car, they told me the roof material in the back was coming off. To make it worse, we looked at another model (which was more expensive because it had the My Ford Touch options inside the car) and a piece of the exterior door panel was falling off. We mentioned it to the sales person and he went outside to check it. He hit it back into place and simply said, "We can just put some glue on it." SERIOUSLY?! Both cars are NEW cars and they already have pieces coming off? Imagine how it will be years from now
