Third Ford that I have owned - step up from the Taurus. Now Ford plans to name this the Taurus due to lack of name recognition for 2008. Best car to have if you have a family. Higher off the ground that most sedans and consistently rates as one of the safest vehicles in a front and side collison. Gas mileage is acceptable, I have over 80,000 miles on my 2005. Live in MD and work in PA - 75 miles one way - average 28 mpg highway - have to love cruise control.

I love this car. I used to own only suv's but needed to get something more economical and this car is great. The other cars I test drove made me feel like I was driving a go cart you know sitting so low but this sits up higher it's just great. I have no problems with it. I recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Buyer Beware Not Ready Yet!

I bought this car because of all the hype concerning its release and because I've been a loyal Ford Customer for 12 years and 4 cars later. I spent $30,000.00 for this new car and the transmission blew up at the 1,300 mile mark. They replaced the transmission but the car still has no power and never did. It hesitates when you step on the gas. Ford say that's normal with their new six speed transmission. I feel so taken in by Ford. They underpowered this car in an effort to keep the price tag down and I'm sorry I ever purchased their lemon car.

CVT Transmission = Worthless

Our family has owned many ford products but this one is a great disappointment. This car has been at a Ford dealership since June. The transmission went and Ford wants $5500 -$6500.00 to put in a new transmission that comes from China. Ford will not help in anyway. The looks beautiful but is not drivable. My daughter and I could have been killed on the turnpike because the car slipped into neutral when you tried to get above 50mph. Greatly disappointed with Ford.

Bad Experience

Even though I had very good service from my foreign cars, I wanted to give the American cars a chance. I purchased my Ford 500 based on good reviews and after a few weeks I noticed that I was losing several quarts of oil. I have the receipts for the oil. My dealer told me to bring in the vehicle. I did and after several days, a new engine was put in the car. After a few days this engine started giving me problems. I took it in and found that the engine was not put together in correctly. It was repaired in a day. In both cases I had to insist on work order that proved I had a problem with the car. The second time I was told I could not have a work order, so they typed a memo.
