Great vehicle, but very pricey.
This is an excellent SUV, and my purchase choice after detailed review of the competitors. Ford is excellent to deal with and they have produced a quality product with this vehicle. Having realistic expectations of how an SUV will be after the initial purchase honeymoon has worn off is important, and you have to understand that you will not get the mileage (MPG) nor the ride comfort of a regular car (sedan). It is after all an SUV. The fuel economy is fair but I did not expect it to sip fuel either. The controls / instrumentation are complicated for those not accustomed to technical navigation through screens of available data, but it's also intuitive enough for the average user to get up and running fairly quickly. The only negative is the price (but I knew this going in). $40K + for the decently equipped mid-size SUV is a lot of money and the price rockets as soon as you get into additional options.

Another Great Explorer
We love our 2016 Explorer. This is our 3rd Explorer. Our 2006 Explorer was extremely reliable and required very little maintenance. We favor Explorers for two main reasons: it has a good towing capacity (5000lbs) and it easily carries or 2 kayaks when we put all the rear seats down. We use it to tow our 19 foot boat. We like the newer features of the 2016 such as the rear camera, bluetooth, synch, and touchsreen controls for entertainment and climate controls. It is very roomy (can seat 7 passengers) when we need to take more members of the family with us. It has always performed well in winter driving. It is a very comfortable car to ride in and has a great safety rating. It also has a lot of space to take skiing equipment in the winter time.

Exploring with the new Explorer
Nice ride for a truck. Feels very comfortable and safe. Handles well. Took it to the snow and had no problems with the traction. Not happy with the location of the drink holder in the back seat. Easy to step on. Great navigation and wifi hook up. Good storage space and easy to navigate the seats. Good mileage for the size and weight, not happy with the size of the gas tank. The tank is too small. Had problems with the fuel delivery system. Almost was in an accident as the vehicle would barely move due to a problem with the fuel delivery and monitor system. Took it in to Ford for repair. I think there has been a recall on it since.
