Used 2005 Ford Escape XLT AWD 4dr SUV (2.3L 4cyl 4A) Consumer Reviews
Fun little SUV
This is a fun little SUV to drive. I love the look of it and the feel of the wind rushing through my hair when the moonroof's open. Mileage has been pretty good, and the all-wheel drive is helpful in snowy MN winter. Road noise gets a little high when at highway speeds.
Michigan based company finally makes one
I bought the car back in October '04. While I personally think it should be getting at least 30 MPG, the 26 and above that I am getting with it is acceptable. It does take time to learn to drive to get the better millage, so I'm giving myself time. The handling and quietness of the ride is terrific. The car always has the power available when or if I need it.

OK if you are not demanding
2005 Escape - it'll get ya there, but if you are a "car" person, or have high standards, stay clear. CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP - interior is awful! And the price, while reasonable, is not as cheap as it ought to be for what you get. Exterior looks great, some nice features, but terrible interior. Also, auto transmission performs terribly - hesitating after shifting w/ poor overall shifting. All other operations are fine. I should have looked at the vehicle closer - I never knew they could make a dashboard out of a slab of rock hard plastic. Now I know!
Super SAFE in Snow!
I've had my Escape AWD for just over a year and have almost 50k miles on it. I love it. It might not be fancy, but it is safe and reliable in just about any situation I come across, from curb jumping in the city to icy rural highways. It has never slipped on me in the snow--I laugh when I see jJeeps sliding off the side of the road and I am still chugging along! Plenty of power to pass going up steep mountains.
Ford Escape
Drives very nice .Good on long trips. Smart 4 wheel drive system works really good. Just love the whole SUV!
