My First and Last Ford
After dealing with numerous recalls and technological glitches, I am finally throwing in the towel on my 2013 C-Max (I've had it for a year). As others have pointed out, the MPG was grossly exaggerated by Ford. At the moment, I'm dealing with relatively minor issues (i.e. entertainment system sporadically stops working, center console won't close, trunk lift gate doesn't work, warning lights randomly go on and off). It is both inconvenient and frustrating to take the car in for repairs all of the time. My last straw - last time I took it in, I returned to find the dealership showing my car to prospective customers (literally sitting in my car with my personal belongings on display).
c-max
We now have 3746 miles on the car on our 12 day road trip - we averaged 37.1 mpg. Not bad considering all the thing that can degrade mileage; load ( passengers; usualy 2, sometimes 5, plus cooler, luggage, gifts and so forth) temperature (cold - 19 to 49 degrees farenheit) terrain ( Ozarks & Texas hill country) speed (mostly highway 65 to 75 mph) I took multiple 100 mile - mpg samples by resetting the trip data at different speeds 75 mph = 35mpg 65 mph = 39 mpg 55 mph = 44 mpg 45 mph = 56 mpg I assume that the engine is now broke in and that we will get noticably better mileage on local surface streets.
Under rated hybrid.
This is a great car! If you are looking at a hybrid, seriously consider this one. May not get as good mileage as the Prius, but it has more HP than you would think and will cost significantly less. The quality and ride comfort is excellent! Get the SEL version. It is worth the extra cost.

Disappointing gas mileage
Where is the 47mpg promised? Cant do any better than 35mpg after3 months and 3000 miles. NOWHERE near 47mpg. Had Fusion hybrid 2010, and did recieved the adverised mileage after 1000 miles. Love the car except, really really annoyed with the poor mileage. I am doing worse than the Fusion and only bought the CMAX HYBRID because of the advertised mileage. Time for a class action suit for renumeration or recall for new hybrid engine. Obviously from the other reviews- I am not the only one complaining.!!!!!!!
Great car!
I purchased by C Max on Halloween 2012 and I now have over 15, 000 miles on it. My lifetime average mpg is 43.4 a combination of city and 55mph driving. Admittedly the mileage plummets if I should venture onto the freeway at 65mph+. The mileage improved with warmer weather. Absolutely love driving the car!
