I have had the C-Max for 2 and 1/2 months and 4,500 miles. This is the vehicle I have been looking for for more than 10 years. It has the large enough interior, high seating position, high roof line, ease of entry, and good handling and mileage of a very small car. It is a pleasure to drive and I am getting 38 to 45 mpg depending on wind direction and my speed. I have achieved over 50 on a few occasions but average in the lower 40's. At 65 to 70, it is around 38 to 40. The power train is so smooth, and on the interstate going 65+ and needing to pass, I was shocked at how quickly it zoomed up to 80! I am averaging 10 mpg more than my good mileage Pontiac G6. Now in 2018 I have almost 80000 miles and am still very happy with the C-Max. Fun to drive, fast, and very comfortable. It is now 2020 and I have 115,000 miles driven and it is still doing great! Mileage is unchanged and very few problems. Just minor maintenance. Just the car for my lifestyle!

Wonderfully designed Hybrid, but...

After 1-1/2 years of ownership, overall i love this Hybrid..... design, features, noise levels, performance and driveability are excellent. HOWEVER have had some rattles and squeaks develop, and an annoying tapping sound in the rear compartment i cannot find for the life of me! There are several fit and finish issues, the windshield mirror cover is flimsy and doesnt stay in place, poor tolerances on the clips. The inside of the two front door panels are warped where the top edges touch the glass, and there's at least 1/4 " movement /flexing by the jambs on both front doors. These were like this from new, but the service dept. at Bell Ford wouldn't fix them. A module had to be replaced in the rear passenger door. The A/C froze up going over the hills from temp. changes but i believe there's a TSB on that now. Only happened once. The MPG debate showed realistic mileage, and after 11000 miles, now average is 46. 2 and stable. Varies between 30's -50's (61 highest) on different trips. That's more than 2-1/2 times my 2007 Santa Fe 18.2 mpg lifetime average, so I'm happy. I'd rather have the better performance and extra features than quibble over a few mpg. in comparison to the Prius. There's an old saying "The ship was ruined for the lack of a ha'porth of tar" meaning the fit and finish issues on the plastic components needs to be improved. Having had my rant, still love the car. Update: 2019 at 25000 miles A/C ceased working, caught fire and whole system had to be replaced. Factory Warranty had expired, luckily had extended warranty, cost me $100 deductible instead of the $4500 it would have cost. Very disappointed. As i said to service guy "so much for Ford Tough" In order to replace A/C system they had to take whole dashboard off to even get to it... now worried what that did to the car. They gave it back to me still smelling of electrical smoke in the interior. Shame.

I traded in a beautiful German near-luxury sedan for this car. Other than prestige, it's little sacrifice. The C-Max drives like a European car because it is one (it's been sold in Europe for years, though not as a hybrid). I get 36-37 MPG, better than the 20 of my old car and comparable to the 40 of the Prius V. The compromises the Prius makes to get those last couple MPG (in road noise, acceleration, structural rigidity) aren't worth it to me. (We drive Priuses as company cars.)

Driving a C-Max at Denver's mile high elevation for the past two months and 1720 miles has been a very satisfying experience. CMax has performed very well in the cold (-5F to 25F) and snow delivering a consistent 37.4mpg. As spring temperatures warmed to 50-70F the mileage climbed to 45-50mpg. Driving is a 50/50 city/highway mix. With lowest mpg 29.7mpg in a blizzard and 93.3mpg on a 3 mile downhill drive from shopping. CMAX was our #1 choice over the Prius and Prius V because the Ford proved to be a better mix of mpg, driving capability and interior comfort. This car is simply fun to drive. Took it up Floyd Hill in the fast lane - nuff said. Have enjoyed every minute in this car!

5 days now with the car; 850 miles: 650 interstate and 200 local roads. Ford advises car must be driven a couple of thousand miles before accurate MPG can be determined, but what I'm seeing now is 44 MPG city (lots of stop and go, and hills) and 37 interstate. Surprising that cold tire pressure is 38 PSI. Dealer was flexible on price, even though this is a new model. This is an SEL model with just one option: premium white paint. Car is a pleasure to drive: sporty feel, comfortable seats, quiet cabin, excellent driver interface with gages and displays. Build quality looks good.
