Great cruiser
I bought this car a month ago with 80k miles on it. I loved the looks of this car with the air vents on the side and the sleek body. The interior is just as great with probably in my opinion the most gagdets of most any other sportscar. The performance is outstanding and the twin turbos will get you into some trouble because they will respond effortlessly to your every command. The car is so stable at high speeds that you don't realize how fast you're going until you look at the speedo. The gear ratios are pretty low and you will find yourself cruising along in 5th at a 100MPH with the engine humming at a tad bit above the 3k RPM mark.
Reliable if maintained
Purchased in 2000 with 125k miles. Currently have 272k miles! The SOHC engine is indestructible. 25 MPG every fillup. The tranny will need new syncros every 125k miles or so, but still drivable. Items replaced are: Syncros, radiator, alternator, starter, power steering rack, water pump seal, noisy lifters, and lower ball joints. Though the list seems long, they all occurred between 180k - 250k miles so it's to be expected. Fix it yourself because it very easy to work on. Regular maintenance includes the timing belt every 60K but you can go 120k on the belt with the SOHC engine without issues. Clutch also lasts about 120k miles. Paid $4k, and put about $4k in parts during 8yrs of ownership.

Stylin and Profilin'
Let me start by stating that I am a "car guy" to the bone. My search criteria for a vehicle is simple; two doors, manual, awd and a minimum of 300 hp! I bought the TT version of this car and have been on cloud 9 ever since. For a car that is 18 years old and has active exhaust, ECS and AWS for a price less than used Pontiac, you can';t beat that! I have the pearl white version and even today people turn and give me the "thumbs- up". In a vehicle like this you don't have to speed, all you have to do is cruise. However, if it is speed you need, it is there for you. There has only been one failure with this car related to the ECU, which was replaced. In short this is the ride for me! Stay cool
Collect and Collect!
I have a 1991 RT, red with black leather interior, one of less than 200 made. My baby has 4000 miles on it :) I have owned Ferrari, lamborghini, and porsche and this 91 handles and rides just as well as any car I've been in. Mine has recently turned fresh collector and will probably never sell it unless someone offers me over $200k for it. These are collectors, tuck them away.
Best value sports car on the road
I bought mine in metallic blue with 40 K on the clock - I had to immediately replace the clutch - it's hydraulic and the previous owner rode the clutch at the lights and wore it out. The new clutch is still going strong at 120K miles. Exceptional handling and looks - get compliments everywhere I go. Great seats and driving position - but low roof and poor rear three quarter visibility. Great engine - reasonable fuel economy. Service quite high due to labor - changing spark plugs for example. Tires expensive but wide give amazing grip. You can switch from comfort mode to sports mode. Very underrated, reliable, high performance sports car.
Tale of the Smoking Stealth
Bought this car from Kuni Lexus in Colorado in August 1995 with 60,000 mi. Absolutely wonderful car to drive until 100,000 mi. Exhaust started smoking, wouldn't pass emissions. Needed new engine. Paid over $3,000 for rebuild, lasted 2 yrs before it started smoking again. Had electrical problems when a short occured in the wiring bundle. The car would shut off in the middle of the road. Car lasted until 151,000 miles.
Stealth's are where it's at
I have had my Stealth for over a year now and I still get a rush every time i get in it. It is big enough to hold football players like me (6'2'' 230) but still seem close and comfortable. They ARE expensive to own (especially when they break) but with a little TLC they dont act up to bad. My car has NEVER failed to start and my only problems have been a result of a tight suspension on not-so-great roads (potholes, etc.)
A supercar for the price of a sedan
This car doesn't age at all. Its design is not outdated after more than 10 years. The tires don't wear out, it doesnt use that much fuel for the power you get. It stick to the road under bad conditions, much better than any Porshe or BMW. Its only bad point is a overweight/brake disc size. Its price used is not even half of the true value of what you get.
Heavenly
I bought my Pearl white 92 Stealth R/T TT from a Dodge fanatic. The price was to good to let it pass me up. With upkept maintience and a few "tasteful" mods, this car has smoked Corvettes and the like. This car is "godly". If your driving style is "easy going" and you're not going to race it or anything of the sort, I've heard of of them going for 170,000 miles before anything to big needed repairs. But if you're like me and many others, about 8-90000 miles you'll be needing some money for repairs, lots of money. But the Stealth R/T TT is worth every penny. I've invested more time and money into this car than I'll admit. I have had no regrets. Best super car ever!
Car is great all around
I bought my Stealth over last winter. Was not running when bought but quickly found out that it was just a bad crank sensor. I got lucky with the condition of the car, as it was BONE stock when i got it. When i replaced the clutch at 172000 miles i was surprised to find the original clutch disk still in there. Since then i have done a few upgrades (cone filter, cat delete with megan racing down pipe. full 3" out the back, also put a stage 3 clutch in and couldnt be happier. car is great and love the sound of the turbos spooling.
awsome care
this is car is awsome and fun to drive, its probably the fastest car i have ever had
Beautiful Fast Fun
I have had my Stealth for 7 years and still love driving it every chance I can. The Stealth just looks great parked, let alone going down the highway. Upkeep can be pricey, but worth it. Car is unique whose style will look great for years to come.
My 1991 Stealth R/t
The car is great. I have had a few problems with it to be honest. The entire front end fell apart on me. I had to replance control arms trailing links ball joints cv shafts and tie rod ends all in one project. I went to the dealer and the cost of all of this was over the cost of the car. I ended up devoting two weeks of my time and $900 + in parts for the stealth. It handles great now. I also have a few porblems with the transmission. The second gear syncro is horrible. afWhen cold the thrani grinds into second even after double clutching to stop the motion of the intermediate shaft. It is an expensive repair.
Loved when drivable
This is by far the funnist car i have ever owned. But I bought the car with about 90,000 miles and it was a ton of fun till about 120,000 when the motor went, I replaced with a rebuilt and about 10,000 mile the motor went again dumb me replaced again and 5,000 mile went for the final time, now it sits in my driveway and still makes me smile because of its looks but cry because of the money I put into it, but is a truly fun car when its running good
Why hasn't dodg/mitsu built a newr vers?
I love my 1992 red tt- I have had a z28 with the vette engine, and a vette in the past and this blows them away in every category, and it is AWD to boot! Although I spoil mine and keep it in the garage when it is bad out, i have occasionally got stuck in a snow storm with it, no issues at all! Fun to drive and people stare, stealth's are not as common place as 3000's and that is why I chose one. This car was ahead of its time when it came out, and for the money you can't beat it!
By far the best
I bought my stealth new off the lot because all of the specs and reviews said it matched or outperformed cars double or triple the price. They were right! It's by far the most reliable car and maintenance free I've had too, although mainenance is expensive. Great in all weather including snow. After 12 years, I'm still getting 21 mpg city and over 27 mpg highway. Not bad for a twin turbo & the way I drive!
Front-drive sports car!
An enthusiast's machine for Dodge dollars. Great handling on tight mountain curves, even in snow (#1 ski car). I just wave politely @ Subarus and SUVs when I pass them to get first tracks. Classic exterior, nothing else like it. 210 horses before the K&N air filter and 3 in. exhaust. So fun it makes commuting a blast. The bad news: expensive maintenance/repair, especially parts (timing belt, water pump, throttle body...). Needs premium gas to reach its peak. Mine has 89K miles as of 1/06, has needed choke repair, T belt/water pump, dome light sensor switch on door, currently has small leak in clutch hydraulics. Not much considering the daily pleasure of cruising it around in all conditions.
Great when motor runs
I looked into geting a steatlh after seeing my friends 91 twin turbo. They are grat cars with awsome power looks and plenty of great features. They only problem is the engines don't last. Mine has 81,000 miles on it three days after I bought it I spun an bearing and that it, new engine. My frind with the 91 did the same a couple of weeks before I bought mine now they are both in the same shop getting the engines rebiult, very expensive. I still like the car and can't wait to get it back.
DODGE STEALTH ES
WOW<this car is amazeing I have nothing but praise for it. it is highly underated. This car is very quick and handles like a dream. it has a mitsubishi engine so it will not die! with 130,000 miles my carit runs like new. The only problem I had was I blew my exaust during a race at 142 mph! it was against an 98 acura integra and he never hot in front of me (open 3 lane road)this is stock! Now I have taken off my resinator bottle and put on a eclipse torbo fipk( which is illegal, but more powerfull and still fits),platinum+4 plugs. 0-60 in 6 sec flat wow!
Very good car!
I bought this car used with about 66,000 miles and have had it until present April 2010 with 182,000 mi. It has performed very well. It always starts up in cold weather and runs well. I have had to repair it of course (normal wear and tear) but I like this car a lot and was (is still to a degree) a head turner. Very quick and fun to drive. Since it is FWD it pulls well in the snow but it has low clearance so if its more than 4 inches of snow I get stuck. I am about to buy a new car and will probably sell it. If I could afford to keep 2 cars I would keep it. I am sure this car would/will do 1 million miles.
Fun, but costly
I bought my Stealth in Sept. and unfortunately my ECU went out immediately. I spent over $2000 trying to find out what was wrong with my car, and when it was finally fixed, the car came alive! I haven't had a car that was so fun, and still get's fair gas mileage. I did put a racing exhaust and some trick parts on the car, but it was definately worth it!
very excellent
the car is the best i had so far
perfection
the apitamy of autos the best car ever to roll off the dodge line
Fun to Drive - even in the desert!
I bought my RT used in Kuwait - where a good cooling system is imperative. Has proven to be excellent. The car is the only Stealth turbo in the country and still going strong after all these years. People don't know what it is! The dealership never brought the Stealth to Kuwait, so parts are a nightmare here.
2nd Owner of 92 Stealth ES
Car is NOT a turbo, however is still REALLY FUN TO DRIVE and can handle daily driving against all the modern cars...The ES is not going to win any races so please don't buy this Stealth model with that in mind, buy the turbo instead....The ES is best experienced on the highway where it's quick, agile and very comfortable for front passengers. It's a true GT cruiser and people usually either love it or hate it especially because of the awkward rear spoiler...I like this car as 2nd car that I don't happen to drive often...I live in Southern California so the weather helps keep this car in great condition...I was going to sell it, but the more I've driven it over the years the more I absolutely love this car..

The Growl
The Stealth is a blast to drive, starting from the moment you turn the key and hear the engine growl to life. After that, the responsive engine and steering, along with the short throw shifter and its head-turning good looks, energize the drive. Combine that with the wonderfully comfortable seats, the well laid-out controls, and its great reliability, and the car is a treat to own.
Amazing car
This car is one of the most fun i have ever driven. It has great performance and handling. The car roars to life as soon as the throttle is floored. The interior is very small, like Porsche or Ferrari small, and the back seat is pointlessly small. the driver and passenger comfort is great and very, very spacious. I am 6' 4" and I can stretch my legs straight out in the passenger seat. The styling comes stock looking like a high performance supercar, including gauge pods for the many different gauges. I have not had any problems with the car since I bought it. This car is a unique eye catcher even fully stock.
Praise
After driving a Stealth and seeing it for the first time I was in love. The speed is great, even though it is not a turbo. Heads turn as you go by. For a '92 it is in great condition and is mechanically sound. Pricing is not to bad for the amount of car you get. An all around good buy!
I must have got a good one!
Bought the car in '97 with 45000 mi. Drove it until '03 when wife blew engine driving it with blown heater hose. Had 203,000 when motor went. Had tranny rebuilt at 150,000 for $2200 dollars. New engine and shop install cost $5500, way more than car is worth. Just couldn't part with car, it's like an old friend. The car is incredibly fast for a base model & handles great. Only real drawback to the design is the placement of spoiler in the middle of the back window blocking rear view mirror, although glad for spoiler over 90 miles an hour, & back seats have no leg room. Love the car & hope for 200,000 more miles.
1992 Dodge Stealth
This is the best car I ever owned! It was low maintenance, had a beautiful design outside and very comfortable inside. If they still made them, I'd buy another one to replace this one.
Most Fun Car I have ever had
Most fun car I have ever had. Always get looks from young and old. Speed is exhilerating yet always seems safe. JUst as much fun as a Porsche or Corvette.
Excellent Vehicle for the Price!
I bought my Stealth from an individual for 3000 bucks. After 2 months, I've only had to replace the starter which was the original. The car has 250,000+ miles, but the engine and tranny both have less than 30k. She has some get up and go and excellent cornering capabilities. I plan on having her for much, much longer and upgrading her until my supply runs dry! She will be in some shows before long!
Watch out.
These aren't reliable. Dont let the name fool you. This car is what is known as a "captive import". It is a Mitsubishi 3000gt badged as a Dodge. Mitsu parts are very expensive, and the labor is difficult and expensive as well. They break easily especially with age. But, if you happen to get a good one, the twin-turbos are awesome, and the all wheel drive is really fun as well.
Textbook Chrylser
The Stealth represents what is wrong with Chrysler and why they are where they are today. A unique, sporty, and attractive exterior design plagued by a dollar store interior and reliability of weather. Numerous electrical faults, windows, alternator, and transmission in the first two years! Spent more time at Dodge than in my garage. Performance was great then, but I've seen R/T Stealths blown away by 4 door G-35 recently
Hard to Part!
I have had my baby since July, 1991 and it is still so exciting and reliable to drive, I am hard pressed to get a new car!! I know that it is time since my mileage is 212289, but I there arent any cars that are as sharp, reliable and unique, and let's not forget reasonable as the Stealths were when they first came out! My car has had a rebuilt transmission, cv-joints replaced, a few other repairs, and my air-conditioner and radio doesn't work (well sometimes the radio works) but I can always start it on a dime and pass people with ease! One of the best decisions Dodge and I ever made!
Most underated sports car
I picked up a 91 RT the day it was traded in, by an older couple who were driving away in a new station wagon. The car was still dirty, and I don't think the dealership realized which model they had on thier hands. I had them throw some new tires, and drove it home. This was the most exciting sports car I have ever driven. AWD, All Wheel Steering, all the features you could ask for. And top of all that, it could not be beaten on the road. Stock! A wreck at over 100 miles an hour (which I walked away from) ended that cars life. If I could find another RT with low miles, I would pick it up in a minute. This car is worth 3 or 4 times it's value!
Best Damn Car Ever Built
I bought my 1991 Dodge Stealth in summer of 1995 as a used vehicle with 36,000kms on it.I currently have 280,000kms on it.It has been wonderful, fast, and enjoyable.I have driven it winter and summer;long trips and short ones.Only problem second gear syncros and power door locks.I currently have a miss I can't find but will check out coil packs. This has been the best car I have ever owned and I have owned many.Fast, reliable good fuel economy also one of the prettiest machines ever built.I have stayed on the road when half tons and SUVs were in the ditch. It has never let me down.I wish she was new again so we could start the romance all over again.I will find a low miles new baby soon!AWESOME!
Lady in Red
Enjoyed driving it very much, but have to sell it as the "Lady" is getting old, but still has the ability to turn heads, and boy can she still run!! bet she does.....she sure zooms zooms through the highways.
Stealth
I love this care to death. trust me. but for it being a 1991 the reliability isn't too good. I have a lot of electronic problems. It's a fast car and it's easy to modify. But it has a lot of electronic parties.
Great car for the firs 150k
Great car and super fun to drive. Perfect dimensions for a sports car - short and wide. Received looks everywhere! Sold it after eight years and it was losing compression and getting harder to smog in California without extensive engine work. Also had to replace first gear under warranty. Mitsubishi sold as a Dodge so it was fairly reliable. Wish Dodge would make another Stealth with new technology!
Awesome!
I've had my 1991 non-turbo R/T for about 3 years. It is the best car I have ever driven! It is great in the corners, comfortable for long trips, and has decent performance (wish I had a TT though!!). I have been rear ended twice in this car, once very seriously (other guy totaled, I have permanent back injuries), and all it needed was minor repairs - it is built like a tank! I have had minor maintenance done, timing belt, water pump, heater hoses, all things that should be done on routine maintenance anyways. The guy before me wore down the clutch a lot so I needed a new one of those too. Anyways, I absolutely love this car, and hate to have to give it up for something more practical.
My grocery getter
I bought a one owner Stealth in 2001 that had been well maintained. I have enjoyed this car more than any car I have ever owned. I have replaced the "brain" and the CV joint and have done regular maintenance. It has been very reliable ,It runs strong. Rides like a new car and handles beautifully on the best of curves. The styling is timeless, and it still turns heads!
Good value
I recently pulled a '91 Stealth ES out of the junkyard for only 500 bucks. I'm only 16, but the car was easily fixed and I had it running in two days. Even if this car was suppose to be about $3000 to $4000, it is a good buy for those street racers with a low budget. I have beaten all Hondas undefeated and the car is stock.
1991 Dodge Stealth ES
All around great car has great power through all the rpm's. For only paying 1500 for my Stealth I feel I got a good bargain even though I do need to fix a couple minor things and since its almost 20 years old it may need a little bit of a paint job. Probably would not suggest for a inexperienced driver though I have been driving for awhile. The power this thing has compared to a Sunfire or a Cutlass Cierra is definetly noticable and will catch you off guard if you're not prepared for it.
Attention Getter
The Stealth is a real attention getter mainly due to its sporty looks. I love to drive my Stealth because it just seems to be more fun then most other cars I have owned.
Stealth Review
Watch out when this car gets over 100,000 mi. When things break down look to drop at least a grand on parts and quality work.
Very Good
Clean and beautiful. I am 5'4, professional 51 year old woman, going on 25! I Like speed. Had it for 2 years. A truck rear ended me at 50 miles per hour in stopped traffic. If I was in another car, I would have been killed. The head rest took the impact of my head, which saved my life., and the rear end suffered major damage, but the hatch back window did not break. The car turned easily and quickly for me, which enabled me to move out of oncoming traffic when the impact occurred. my car is a "total" loss,. I do believe that had I been in another vehicle, results would be different. I'd recommend it to anyone, sports car or not.
Stealth Base (3Si)
I currently drive a Stealth, it is a fantastic car. Very fast and plenty of room for mods. Overall an excellent car.
Stealth R/T-Under valued
My 91 Misty Blue Stealth R/T is awesome. It's not only fun to drive, but it's practical and fuel effecient. I don't have the Twin Turbo model, but the 3.0L 24V engine rockets the car down the road. This car is "Under Valued" and is an excellent sports car. It beats the Vette hands down!
Fun but expensive!
If you love performance then this is the car, if in good shape and all service intervals have been taken care of. I own a 1991 Twin Turbo. It is probably the best handling car I have ever owned. I have owned many sports cars. The sound of the turbos is awesome. The car will fly! But these cars are expensvie to maintain also. Parts are priced high and usually simple things require a lot of labor at dealers or your local mechanic. Just follow the intervals to the "T" and you will ok. But this is an awesome machine and will get you in trouble!
