Will trade for good car
Have fought to get 18mpg on the highway. Had the truck for 25000 miles before the ECU was programmed correctly. Before that the mileage was 16mpg highway. Dodge service is awful in every shop I've been to.
Tis' a good truck, try it!!!! I like it
For the price of my doge as compared to a ford, I am verry happy with the performance and comfort, just remember, as with all vehicals you might get a lemon, it happens with all makes (ford gmc... ect...) it is your job to make sure its is not before you buy. Dodge Ram is a nice truck and the 5.9l has bucoo's of power and torqe. A+++++++

Great truck!!
I have had no problems with this truck of any kind. Owned it for two years. The interior is really comfortable for long drives. Fits both car seats in the back and tows anything I put on the back of it. Of course mileage is bad but most trucks do not get good mileage. If you want good mileage go buy a Metro and park the truck. My truck has the 5.2L.
'01 Dodge
Great truck to drive. I basically use it to hunt and pull my boat. Plenty of power, just wish that it got better gas mileage. I had removed the muffler and run straight pipes and the mileage went from 8-10 to 12-15mpg. With 50k it looks and drives great! Pulls a 18ft tyee with no problem.
Nothing but RAM from here on....
I'm in a tough business. Oilfield. I put about 40,000 miles on a truck each year. I've tried every thing...Ford, Chevy, imports. Used to be a born again Chevy man. But Chevy has really sucked the last few years so I switched. I'll never look back. Dodge has really turned out an excellent product. This truck stomps any GM I ever had. I have 65,000 on it now and still is tight. Most of that is rough dirt and lease roads. This thing is a TANK.
Poor engine for vehicle
2001 Dodge Ram Magnum V6 bought new. Gets about 11 MPG and engine is dangerously weak. Continous knocking in engine. Extreemly poor breaking system.
I love it!
I bought this truck in 09 only prob was the transmission but other than that i love my dodge ill drive it till the wheels fall off.
needs brakes, oil pump,clockspring, nois
I have previously owned 3 ford trucks. Out of all 3, none has had any major work before 120,000 miles. And then did I mess up and buy a dodge. It is not comfortable, it has a continuous noise in the steering, I have replaced a clockspring under warrenty, went Christmas shopping and suddenly needed a oil pump, I have my dodge serviced on a regular basis. I bought the dodge for its looks. Looks can be decieving!!!!!!
Great truck
No problems. Great truck. Comfortable on long trips. Not much room in back seat, adults would be a little cramped.
only 4x4s
Though I have a gas guzzling 360 motor that is not very practical for long trips, the power is definately there when I pull my 24 camper up hills. I bought this vehicle to get me back to the campsite, whether camping, fishing, or hunting and I have had no problem completing the task. I enjoy my truck and have no compaints. The only issue I have seen is that the suspension is a little ruff and the truck gets really squirrelly on rigid dirt roads which is to be expected.
Mighty Dodge
Since purchase no problems at all. Gas mileage good (probably due to manual trans) Does everything it is supposed to do. No frills st model only way to go. $8,000 less than slt, and less to potentially go wrong. 4wd works great in all type of conditions.
Good overall value
Overall, very satisfied. Have done little more than change oil, basic maintenance. Only "major" issue so far has been water pump at $200. Does have a few irritating squeaks, but overall has been a good, reliable vehicle. Car seat in back holds young kids well, but back seat room and comfort rate a 1. Gets 17.7 mpg highway (to-from work), so not bad. Excellent front seat comfort for big people (I'm 6'4"). I'm not keen on the maintenance schedule (manual states to change plugs/wires every 30K). I did have to pay $500 to have this done ... no way a homeowner could change these without major difficulty, and it should be a simple thing to do. Air filter change could be made easier too.
Great Truck
An excellent truck. Not the first first truck I've ever driven, but the first one I've owned. The ride is above any other truck on the market. I often have chevy and ford owners riding with me that comment on how much smoother the ride is in my truck.
Old Reliable
I traded my 1992 Ford F150 4WD for the Ram -it had only 19,000 miles on it - in '03 and have never regretted it for a second. I can't tell you how many colorful metaphors I had for Ford's annoying design issues (too numerous to mention here). My Dodge, however has never let me down. I had a minor electrical problem after about a year and a half due to faulty plug wires, but since putting good ones in I have no complaints. I highly reccommend a Dodge Ram to anyone who depends on it for his/her business.
Very unimressed
Dodge would be embarressed if they actually cared about their customers ....heck any pride. Dash is total garbage and seeing asthough we dont drive inside buildings away from the sun the dash should be able to withstand the gentle climate earth has..Mopar always had great v8 engines but the 5.9 has caveman technology and bad parts...im on 3rd water pump, harmonic balancer was wobbling and somehow the timing chain wore a hole in the front cover. Power steering is throwing oil all over. I have owned 75+ automobiles and i have never replaced a harmonic balancer, water pump 3 times in 40k , never touched a steering gear. Body panels fit lousey, front bumper looks like its falling off, drain channels in the rockers and door panels too small and half poorly located. Had to rebuild transmission at 130000 ( understandable), small brakes so i do a total brake job every three years all new parts and pads every other... Most tolerable but window fitment, the horrible dash , and the unforgiveable crap metal that have all dodge trucks looking like aweful crap... oh and the horrible steering and yes i keep new tires on my truck excellent maintenance. Truck has plenty of power with ac off but for the gas it guzzles it should have 60 more hp. Been thinking of getting a 3/4 ton 4 door or 1 ton but there really is no reason to go dodge. Dodge really dropped the ball 94 to 2001. Now im trying to choose the model but they dont have a reg cab Laramie sb 5.9.
NOT BAD
I have owned this truck for two years now and so far no problems. I have the 5.9 and it gives me the power i need to pull my trailer. The only downside is the gas milage is 14-17 and maybe 12 when pulling my trailer.
a REAL truck!
I've owned my Ram for over 2 years now with no complaints! I bought this truck to use and abuse, and still have it look nice. It has plenty of power with the 5.9l engine. Great 4x4 lock up with the floor shifter. (I don't trust any 'push-button' 4-wheel drive system) SLT package is nice and not over-priced. It was nice while ordering it as the SLT package is the basic frills. Anything else you wanted you could add on. Great saftey features and roomy interior designed wonderfully! Tons of clearance for those back wood roads too.
ONe Great Truck
This has been a work horse from day one. I have not been easy on this truck in the slightest, and it just keeps begging for more. I will definately be purchasing another one if this one ever slows down, but untill then, she has been the best truck I have ever owned!!!!
is this what a dodge is?
my wife loved the looks and sound, but I found the 5.2l underpowered and the trans a joke. one of the most comfortable trucks on the road, but it labored badly with just my 16 ft boat at 60mph. my 02 Chevy doesn't know it's there with the 4.8l
Ram
The Ram is a overall good truck, its reliable, gets me were i need to go and gets me unstuck through lots of places. The only problem is The dash cracks really really bad and the trim around the gauges.. other than that its a nice truck.
Ram sport
Very happy with this truck. The ride and handling are great. The styling is excellent (better than the new ones). Overall size and function are just what I wanted. Not impressed by the gas mileage, but it is as good as Ford or Chevy at least. It seems well put together, no squeaks or rattles. Nothing falling off, no minor glitches. I had a 1997 just like this one and it was also fun to drive, trouble free and gave me no reason not to buy this one, I only switched to get one with lower miles and the newer sport styling
Good Truck
I have had my Ram for exactly one year and the only problem I have had is the drivers side map light stop working and the switch had to be replaced. It is roomy, comfortable and has a great ride. Plenty of power but hard on fuel but what do you expect? It's a truck.
Great Truck
It is a fine truck. Capable of towing, hauling, and looking good around town. It's big....and those who like big vehicles will not be disappointed. Get a cold-air induction kit and some flowmasters, and the "underpowered" 5.9 will eat up the road.
Dash Crackin Good
Only brand new vehicle ever bought. Like the looks, power, and feel. Gas mileage was disappointing. 13-19 advertised, most I ever got on a long trip has been 15. Most of the time it's 12-14. Water pumps went out, and transmission will not shift into first on its own. Someone that didn't pay attention would have probably burnt the transmission up by now. Shifts fine by manually shifting the automatic transmission. 71,000 miles and dash board has craters in it.
Dodge trucks are great, dealerships suck
I have 1500 with a 360. Pretty peppy, but I made some modifications. All around, it's a great truck. Roomy with driving comfort. It rides better then most cars. Owned a Dodge truck since 1998... never had a problem. Change the tranny oil every 20,000 miles and it seems to be fine.
Love my Dodge, Hate the gas guzzlin'
10MPG in the winter is the ONLY flaw with this truck. Power, comfort, ground clearance, looks it's all there- -it just guzzles gas. Want economy? Put a Toyota Prius in the back! Oh yea . . . big tires like this wear out in 30K miles. Pay the money, drive the truck. Look DOWN on Ford and Chevy trucks.
very nice
i love this truck...it's very nice..it catches a lot of attention with its sport and off road packages and its sound...i wash it 2 times a month and still don't let people eat in it...i will be getting the 2009 dodge ram when it comes out, i will ALWAYS buy dodges (i hate chevy and toyota) even if they go out of business. has a lot more power then the 2003 toyota tundra...love this truck
do not buy a dodge truck
I purchased this truck because it had a lot of interior room but I was warned by co-workers not to purchase a Dodge and I should of listened. The truck is falling apart inside, dashboard has many cracks in it, cd player does not work, a/c has been replaced 6 times... Etc... Dodge will not own up to these issues and there are many complaints about the dashboard issue which makes airbag deployment a real safety issue if it were to deploy... All that cracked plastic would fly like shards of Glass
Good-ish old truck, hard to kill if you can wrench
Bought it in '07 with the gettag tranny going out swapped in a NV4500 and beat the tar out of it for 6mos. Spent a year overseas came back and blew up the t case (abused purely my fault) the had a drive line explode on the 93 near wikieup(old age and abuse). Drove her hard another year and blew up the rear diff and cracked the bell housing(again abuse) the at 120K FINALLY had to change the clutch out. The dashboard turned into Frito chips somewhere along the way and got swapped. (TLDR): I worked very hard to kill this truck and she is still making 60mi round trips on the highway, we all bought these after seeing Twister and treated our one truck like the 4 they used to make the move...lol

Could it be WHERE it's built?
I have experienced some of the complaints, but drive it so little that I have not really had time to give a "lemon" evaluation. I "think" the tranny may have some problems, the blower on the AC/Htr seems to whir oddly, and the pulling many of us notice was brushed aside as, .."most of them do"(by dealer service dept) As opinions seem split...I would bet it has to do with with whether the vehicle was built in MICH or the other factory (where mine was built). I have had Dodge trucks since 1981...this may be the last, although I may consider a 2500 (why does it have a 9-PLUS rating?). Am going to check it out right now!
Fit to Customize
When I purchased my Ram 1500ST in Aug of 2001 it looked like any other truck made for fleet sale, plain. But I have to say, that if you are looking for a truck that is rarely customized the pre- 2002 Dodge Rams are the way to go! After a lift kit, wheels, sound system, and various other parts. I now have a one-of-a-kind truck, a real head turner! Just make sure you have the budget for a gas guzzler (about $49/wk)
Awsome Truck!!!
I love this pickup. Its a beatiful powerful machine. You'll pay for the beauty and power when you stop at the gas station.
Mixed feelings
Good truck overall. Dodge needs to put a better transmission in this full sized truck. Just replaced for the second time at 121,000 miles. Terrible gas mileage of 13.5 city, 15.5 highway.
Disapointment
I've always been an avid Mopar lover. However, this truck has been in the shop more than any vehicle I've ever owned. When it behaves, it's a great performer... unfortunatly, that's a rare thing. The idle is lousy and seaks up and down. If you try to drive it within 5 minutes of starting it, it will stall. The transmission has been rebuilt and is going bad AGAIN. Now, the 4-wheel unit is starting to hum.
RAM TOUGH, Not Really!!!
I have owned many Dodges over the years, but this one has had the worst repair frequency record ever!! It has the 4 Wheel Anti-Lock Brakes, and they just DO NOT STOP THE TRUCK. It has been back to the dealer at least 9 times for repair. I finally had someone else bypass the ABS for the front wheels, and now it works fine. But, this is not a true fix. I guess the only way to get anyone to fix it right is to have a serious enough accident. The only other bad thing with this vechile is that it gets VERY poor fuel mileage... The sticker says 12, but I usually get only 8. Dealer says that this is normal also... My advise, buy a Japanees truck.
good sofar
I have 34000 miles on my 4by4 slt with the 5.9 in it.Most impressed by its offroad prowess.I remember the first winter i had it.It snowed 17 inches in 1 day,and on a small residential road leading to a recreation area, only half was plowed. The other half had a good 2 ft of snow.Anyways,i drove right thru the 2 ft of snow like a hot knife thru butter. No problems to date. One minor irritation. It has a slight pull to the right.Could be a design flaw,as numerous accounts of this occurance, and no remedy that i know of.
Dodge Ram Opinion
Nicely styled truck with good size and looks. I drive mostly on road with occasional off road jaunts. I've owned this for over a year and for the most part have been satisfied with it but it does have it's drawbacks being a seven year old design based on the time I bought it.
OK, until warranty expires.
A comfortable truck, with OK performance, horrible mileage. Now that the warranty is about to expire, things have started to go wrong. The dealership has been worthless (they haven't corrected ONE problem that I have had). The truck sputters and moans when the motor is cold. Transmission is starting to slip. Also a popping noise in the front end when turning. I am trading it off. Too bad, as I really enjoy driving it.
Looks good but I think I have a lemon
The truck ran good until I hit the 28,000 mile mark where I started to run into engine problems. Looking on www.alldata.com, a internet resource that shows common errors with all makes and models, I found the symptoms I was experiencing. The dealership updated my computer and repaired a couple things. Since then I have been bringing it back just about every month. The lastest trouble was when I was running at 60 and the truck just cut out. The truck only has 34,000 milies on it what kind of build quality is that?
mike's ram
best truck i have ever owned.
Tough Truck
I love this truck. This one of the best truck I have ever seen, I put around 55000 on the truck since I bought it and I drive it really hard and not one problem. Replaced the water pump when it leaked. I can haul 2000 pounds of stuff in the back and the truck pulls great. I have the Off- Road Pac, and the truck will out drive any but the most lifted of chevys and ford which usually get broke down anyways. My only problem is the gas mileage with the 5.9 and 4.10 gears is awful. I am luck to get 14 on the highway but then I don't have to pay to keep the truck running other than that.
Don't buy one
cannot stop the truck from pulling to the right. Tried everything. Dealer tried to say it was road slant until I drove them on the other side of the road. In shop 4 times before trans. noise could be identified and fixed. 11mpg on highway, 6mpg pulling 2800lb. boat. Terrible mileage. Service sucks.
Dodge is leading the pack now
For the first 15 years in this business I wouldn't even consider anything but a Chevy. But for the past few years GM keeps raising prices and dropping quality. So I bought a RAM on a whim. Excellent truck. The only problem I had was tranny blew at 15,000 miles. Dodge replaced it and now I have 62,000 miles with no problems at all. I added an aux trans cooler for insurance. But this new trans has almost 50,000 miles pulling loads from 1,000 - 5,000 lbs everyday. Many times in 4WD. This truck is everybit as dependable as any Chevy I ever had. But it cost a lot less.
I'll not buy another Ford or Chevy!
Not in a million years would I have guessed my Dodge Ram 1500 would be such a pleasure to own and drive.
So, is this the new bluesmoblile or what
Sharp looking truck with the sport option. The grill that is the same color as the truck. Love the room in the front seats. I'm satisified with truck and service at dealer.
Dashboard Woes
I bought my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4X4 brand new in January 2001. I hadn't had any problems with it at all until about two years ago when the dashboard started with one small crack. Now the entire dashboard looks like a jigsaw puzzle. And, Dodge hasn't done a recall on the dashboards? I'm disappointed. As much as I love my truck, I'm seriously considering trading it in on anything in which the manufacturer will stand behind the product.
Slow but steady
This is a decent truck. It's great for a kid's first vehicle because it doesn't have much get-up-and-go power. It's a fairly slow vehicle that is good if you are just hauling lumber or a 4-wheeler around. It won't work if you want to pull a load of any real size or jump out into traffic without endangering yourself. Given the choice, I wouldn't buy another Dodge with a V-6. Chevy's V-6 is a fairly strong engine, but Dodge failed miserably in that dept.
GREAT TRUCK
In the past I would drive a vehicle for 2-3 years, get sick of it and move on to a new one. I'm going to keep my Dodge Ram for as long as it keeps running!!
A nice Dodge Ram
This truck is better than my last two trucks which were both Fords . It has more wheel hop durring tight turns while in 4 wheel drive than my other 4 x4's , 2 Fords and a GMC .The others had shorter wheel bases which may be the reason .
Dodge Ram 1500
Excellent truck, great styling. Strong engine. Bought to tow a trailer and looking forward to it
