It's not us, Call Chrysler!

My entertainment system has never worked on my 2022 pacifica. Lots of online forums with unhappy customers with same issue. We're commonly told by the dealers "we cannot repair, it's a Chrysler software issue IN WORK"....6 months later still waiting. Until all the bugs are worked out, I don't recommend purchasing a partially operating Pacifica.

Nothing but problems, Brakes caught fire at 13k

bought this 22 Pacifica in 6 of 2022. Before we drove off the lot we had issues with the stereo not connecting to Bluetooth and freezing. They noted this and we left. The stereo continued to freeze, glitch, lock us out of it with no rear climate control options. We took it to the dealer 3 times for this issue and finally after 10 days in the shop they determined it needed a new stereo. That was 10/2022. This still hasn’t been fixed. 8/2022 we took it in as the front doors were both sagging and had to go to the body shop to be realigned. 8/2022 sliding doors work 50% of the time. 8/2022 ceiling vent fell out hitting my daughter. 9/2022 noticed an annoying rattle in the dash, and back hatch began slamming when closing. The dealer couldn’t find the rattle and said they ordered the strut for the rear door as they believe it has failed. (Still not repaired) 9/2022 with about 7,000 miles I noticed a vibration in the brake pedal, almost like the rotors were warped. Took it in, tech couldn’t simulate the problem, told it was nothing. 1/23 the brakes got bad. Horrible vibration. I called the dealership to set up and appointment. When I got home from the grocery store my brakes were on FIRE! I had Chrysler tow it to the dealer. (13,000 miles) To add the last nail in the coffin, the dealer called me the next day and told me the vehicle was side swiped in the back lot. 🫣 As of 11/2022 I had an attorney start a lemon case against Chrysler, to this day 1/2023 they still haven’t responded. I am beyond frustrated. I can’t even put my family back into that vehicle. That’s a major safety concern, what does Chrysler do? Absolutely nothing. I know I’m not alone, they are hiding the real numbers.

Fire Risk

We have had so many issues with this minivan. Since purchasing we have needed to be towed twice because the computer detected an issue with the hybrid battery. After having the hybrid battery replaced (which required us to go 2 weeks without the vehicle), now we have had 2 separate recalls due to a fire risk. The latest still has no fix, so we are unable to plug in the vehicle or park it near buildings or other cars. This recall has been open for more than two months now with no update from Chrysler. Stay away from this vehicle!

Batter AND gas tank issues

Maggie H. , 10/13/2022

I will begin by saying that I really want to love my minivan. I love the look of it and I love the features. But I cannot stand Chrysler and we have had one issue after another. For the last eight months the battery has been under recall. We were never informed by Chrysler that our battery was a fire hazard. I learned myself by seeing an article online. At the time I had spoken with the dealership and had the car in several times, as we were currently experiencing major gas tank issues. No one ever mentioned the recall. With gas prices what they were this summer, having a “hybrid vehicle” where the company was asking you not to use the hybrid feature was infuriating. For the last ten months our car has been having issues with the gas tank sensor. We can add about 50 cents of gas at a time, with the tank constantly sending the signal the tank is full, no matter how empty. Sometimes the pressure builds up to where the gas just shoots back out at you. We have had it in the dealership at least eight times with three attempts at fixing it. It’s still broken. The gas tank button doesn’t work either. So this summer we were left with a hybrid car that would barely take on gas, but also might start on fire if you plug it in. Great! After eight months of this, last month Chrysler finally called and offered me a $250 gift card. It would be available in a few days. I thought to myself “that’s the least they could do!” Shocker. The gift card never arrived. After calling every day for weeks, I finally received a call back telling me there is “a glitch in the system“ and the card will eventually come, though they couldn’t/wouldn’t give me any timeline. After everything we have been through with this vehicle, it was the icing on the cake and beyond insulting to be offered such a measly amount of money and then have the money never arrive. Stay away from this company. Their customer service is horrible. They are doing absolutely nothing to solve these issues. I finally received a letter in the mail sharing the February recall and informing me that there was a fix available. If I had not found the article myself, I would have been driving around this entire time never knowing that my battery was at risk of fire. I love the look of this car and I wanted this to be a vehicle that lasted us through the years. Unfortunately it has been nothing but trouble.

Amazing minivan

We purchased our Pacifica Hybrid Limited in February. With 3400miles on the odometer it typically shows 65mpg. This is because 80% of our daily use involves round trips under 50 miles. On long trips with no electric charge it gets around 33mpg. When it sees only electric recharge use it shows around 85mpg, but that is a conversion due to the cost of electric. I calculated the cost of driving this vehicle with 80% electric and 20% gas. For me, it’s around 4.5cents per mile which is about 1/4 the cost of a gas minivan.

Car doesn't have 7000 miles yet and this car already had so many problems, i had to replace both Batteries before the car even had 5000 miles which I paid out of pocket since the avrage time to get an appointment at a Chrysler service center was between 1 to 2 months and the Batteries were completely dead. transmission is horrible, jerking, hard shifts, failure to shift gears when needed, etc. The suspension is horrible when I drive on the slightest bump or pothole you feel like sitting in a loose box of matches, evrything is shaking

What an incredible van. Chrysler did everything right. Hybrid technology is super slick. No passenger has been able to feel the transmission shift! No one believes it’s a Chrysler! Love the ride. Not one single problem. Grandkids love the DVD player. Mileage is incredible. Interior is huge. I drop the third seats and put a huge crate in for my German Shepard. I love my van!

We use this as a daily commuter since we can plug in at work and at home, so we sometimes go for several months without having to buy gas. When we do take longer trips, the mpg are consistently 30+. Since most of our miles are electric, we haven't even used the gas motor enough to warrant a second oil change yet!

I’ve been a Pacifica owner since 2017 and driven it both in-town and annually between Maryland and Florida. Performance and reliability-wise it has been outstanding with no noticeable drop-off over the years. Due to its hybrid engine it has great acceleration and the handling is more car than minivan-like. I’ve owned minivans since the original VW Bus through the Ford Windstar and the Pacifica offers a totally different driving experience, while at the same time affording the cargo handling benefits of a minivan. My only complaints are that due to the hybrid engine the middle seats can’t be easily stowed in the floor (although they are said to be more comfortable than the regular Pacifica’s seats which can); the fact that full charging on standard 110v power takes a long time (ie, overnight); and, the headlights could be brighter.

I bought my wife the highest-end 2020 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. It has been in the shop nearly seven weeks out of about 130 weeks of ownership. Its transmission failed at 42,000 miles and the warranty is positively worthless. It has been in the shop where they have been trying to replace the transmission for the last 51 days, while we walk to school and the grocery store. We bought a new van to avoid this. Now I wish I had my wife’s 16 year old highlander back instead. In fairness, Chrysler did offer us $50 per day for ten days of car rental, but required us to rent from a place that charges $70 for the lowest value car per day… and 10 days of coverage is not covering 51 days without a car, much less the fact that it appears we will be without the car for another 51 days since the new transmission they replaced the other new one isn’t working either. If anyone at Chrysler cares about the reputation of this car, they should call me at 303-345-3508 and make this right. I’ve had enough and will be escalating significantly including volunteering as a lead plaintiff against Chrysler if I have to.

Recently had a custom hybrid built and the entertainment system I paid so much extra for doesn’t even come with a built in DVD player. Now instead they force you to pay for an expensive monthly hotspot to stream the entertainment. I’m so disappointed in Chrysler for making this change. You can use lots of wires to hook up an external DVD player but who wants that hassle and the pain. My 10yo town and country had a better system then my very expensive brand new Pacifica?!?

1500 miles in a brand new Pacifica (after Sienna)

A 2023 update >>> Rented another Pacifica (also brand new) for a San Diego to LA trip. I can say that a hybrid option made all the difference. The van is much more responsive with much-improved gas mileage. Also, 35-40 miles on battery is a very welcomed option. What was the same (not good): - Rather soft/bouncy suspension (can be personal preference) - Adaptive cruise control was still no match to that of Sienna. - 29 mpg is OK, but still behind 34 mpg of Sienna What has improved (or I missed previously) - The infotainment system worked well without issues (once you figure out the layout). - Turn-tracking rear gear guidelines. No idea why Toyota went cheap on this option. The in-cabin rear mirror was useful; I could see all the passengers clearly. - Sunglasses holder over the rearview mirror. - Heated steering wheel! Not much value for CA, but I really really miss it in North East. What remains to be known is the reliability. Original review: I've rented a brand new Pacifica with 300 miles on the odometer and drove it for about 1500 miles up the California PCH. Since I have a 2021 Sienna I drive on daily basis, here are some comparison points. First off, I should say that Pacifica is not a bad car. It certainly has strong points and some people have highlighted them already ( strong engine and a lot of space in the rear seats). That said, here is what I found to be inferior: Driving and drivetrain. - The real-life fuel consumption was 24 mpg, tops. - A bit of excessive road noise. - Steering felt a notch too flimsy. - Passengers complained of too much bouncing, especially in the back seat. - Maybe because it was a new car (the issue was largely gone by the end of my trip), the transmission sounded really weird when slowing the car down while on adaptive cruise control. Screeching/grinding sound, as if it was ready to fall out. - Adaptive cruise control: - Jerky and not very reliable. I had to keep my foot over the brake all the time, as it accelerated at the car in front more than once. Also, when keeping the distance it tends to accelerate and slow down, rather than keep pace. - There are two cruise control activation buttons: one is for a regular cruise and one for the Adaptive one? Why? Makes no sense to me. - Sluggish cruise control activation screen. Tempted to press the button again and again. Interior. - Shallow and excessively wide cup holders in the back. Such that regular water bottles were falling out. - Dysfunctional center console. And who needs nickel and dime coin holders these days? - Rotary gear switch (maybe cool for some fancy vehicles, but not for a minivan) is located near the volume knob! I've almost confused it a few times. Multimedia system. - Android auto does not go into the night (dark) mode. It is borderline dangerous, as the screen remains super bright and blinds the driver after dawn. -Bluetooth/USB Android auto feature is flaky. The Head unit keeps on losing connection for no apparent reason and requires force reconnect. A few times it failed to charge the phone while on the USB connection port.

Faulty chips

We have a 2121 hybrid Pacifica. It was good until we had started having problems with the chips/ charging system. We were on our way home from vacation. About every 15 miles it would just die. We would have to pull over on side of road. Wait a few minutes and then the engine would restart. We would go about another 15-20 miles and it would do the same thing. Needless to say it took forever to get home and we were worried we would even make it! Then we attempted to make a service appointment (still under full warranty). First available appointment one month away! So we were without being able to use vehicle for one month. We got it in and supposedly they fixed the problem. Then 4 months later just in town driving it started doing same thing. Just totally die while driving the vehicle. Again would have to pull over on side of road and let it sit for a few minutes. Then it would restart. I called to make an appointment. Guess what? Another 4 weeks for first available appointment!!!!!! I asked them what are you doing to fix this problem?! They had NO solution! I asked what are we to do if on vacation and this happens again? They said take it nearest dealership….. great! on vacation and will it take them a full month to even look at it? So now we are scared to take this van very far at all. We will be getting rid of it as soon as we have finances to get rid of it and buy a RELIABLE minivan! Maybe Toyota or Honda. I do NOT recommend this vehicle and the service on dealerships (or lack of it) to anyone!

AWESOME! Few mini vans, SUVs, van, or sedans sport a 6 cylinder engine but the Pacific does so with style and quiet luxury. I opted for the black out package- that's right I built my vehicle, waited a few months and got the vehicle of my dreams- all black interior including black leather, black window tint and black rims & trims. I also opted for the stow & go and the rubber mat that covers the whole floor (kept our last van nice for over 20 years). Drives like a dream. Gliding over the road like it hovers above it. A winter ice storm was no match for this baby. Rain, snow, and the dark have not kept us home. The heated seats and steering wheel are a soothing treat to my fibromyalgia....I actually want to drive this vehicle. The remote start and doors make juggling our two large dogs and the rest of our circus manageable in one trip. I was able to purchase a warranty that would last longer than my loan. Plus it gets over 20 miles per gallon on every tank so far. Got it up to 27 mph on one tank. I waited to write this review until mileage at 4410 because I scheduled an oil change. I was so afraid I would be late. When I showed up Gary tells me I don't need one until between 7k/8k miles! So not only do I have to spend less of my life at the dealership, but they are HONEST! I LOVE THAT! They were very fair and great to deal with during the buying experience as well! I am driving exactly what we wanted and needed! Thank you Audobon Chrysler Henderson Kentucky!

The stow and go with multiple deep wells offers lots of hidden storage with the seats up and is cavernous with the seats down. Highway acceleration is surprisingly good, hitting the governor limit of 110 in a reasonable distance. The main downside is gas mileage, only very gentle driving can top 20 mpg, towing, fast or city traffic drops to around 15 mpg.

Too many issues for a new vehicle

There are some common issues with the Pacificas that Chrysler doesn't seem to want to fix. The transmissions are absolutely horrible. Hard shifts, jerking, failure to shift gears when needed, etc... These are known issues that Chrysler doesn't seem to be able to fix. A brand new Pacifica rides like a log truck sometimes. The engines appear to be very fragile. There are numerous reports of head gasket issues, camshaft issues, cylinder issues, etc... All of these are MAJOR issues that cost big money. Typically these issues start showing up around 50,000-70,000 miles. I have heard of way too many engine replacements on these vans and unfortunately many of them are out of warranty. The worst part about the Pacificas though has to be the Chrysler dealerships. They don't seem to be equipped to work on these vans at all. I am not sure where the breakdown is, but these vans are sitting for weeks and weeks at a time why the dealership tries to figure out what is going on. I don't think Chrysler has properly trained their technicians on how to diagnose and repair these vehicles. Bottom line, I would avoid these vans. While they look nice and could be an amazing product, right now they are just lipstick on a pig.

Our rental car has 47K on it. There is a noise that erupts under the passenger side several times in a trip. The navigation using your smart phone is glitching all the time. My phone was not the main source for using Wyze but it kept doing weird things to my phone. I could not turn my Bluetooth off before it turned right back on. During this glitch my husband's phone could not work properly to get our route it also routinely chose a different sate to drive to then the one we selected. We got in a lot of fights saying each of use was poking it in wrong when the one entering it saw the address was correct only to give a wrong route. The back passenger sliding doors would not close unless the people up front poked the button or someone outside pressed the button. If you want to fold seats down or pull them up the seats in front of it must be shoved forward. The one chance I drove it, the brakes were impossible to get used to. There is a daily to use to put your car in park, drive, reverse.... what lunatic came up with this. I had to look 5 minutes in the dark for the shifter. We had to travel with our cat. He hates his carrier and wants to be on your lap. We learned from our own vehicles he is heavy enough to lower an electric window. It ticks me off to no end there are no window locks for the front passenger window. I had to stay on my guard with the window button. The drivers side window constantly fogged up from the air conditioner. There was no way to remove the humidity from the car. The window was nearly impossible to see out of on hot humid days. The first time I needed to drop the passenger window it went down. I wanted to put it up and when I pulled up to make it go up it went down further. A couple times it didn't move at all. The button placement to shut the back hatch has a stupid placement as well. There is nothing friendly about this vehicle. I can't wait to dump this frustrating piece of technological garbage off. One of my friends drove a Crysler several years ago. I hated that van the few times I rode in it. Next discovery is my husband thought it was a hybrid because the engine ran so rough when you sat still then engaged the engine. It is apparently not a hybrid and apparently just wants to die during idling. My husband hates the side mirrors. The blind spots on the van nearly got him in an accident. What is with the stupid alarms as well when a car returns in front of you but you get a little close and in bold on the screen it shows BRAKE followed by insane alarms. Nothing like scaring the crap out of the diver and the spouse.

Liftgate in a garage

There no adjustment height for the back liftgate. So when we open it in our garage it bangs the opened garage door. And it doesn't hit the door and stop. It comes back down. We would not have bought this car if we had known we can't even open it in our garage. I called Chrysler Canada to ask is there a modification l could do and they seemed dismissive and said no.

Lots of features for the price, plugin is great

We've owned two Chrysler Pacifica Hybrids. The 2018 model had numerous issues (biggest was that it wouldn't turn off) and Chrysler purchased the car from us. We bought the 2022 and haven't had any issues. The amount of features you get at the price point is unbelievable. We have kids in baseball and soccer and we can pile in all our gear, coolers, chairs, blankets, etc so easily. The 2nd row is easy for our kids to access and the rear headrest screens make life much easier. Trips to Costco and the nursery are a breeze with the space. The infotainment is intuitive and hasn't been glitchy like our 2018 model was. The 0-60 time isn't exciting but that's not the purpose of a minivan. Most of our life is within 30 miles round trip so we rarely fill up with gas and have only needed one oil change in 2 years. I love the time saved. Or having to go to gas stations. It's comfortable when I have colleagues in my car because it's spacious and easy to get in and out of. I wish the 3rd row seats were powered, the front seats were more cushioned, and a digital mirror would be handy when our car is filled with birthday balloons. I'm shopping for a luxury vehicle right now and realizing many of the features of this van are an upcharge on more expensive vehicles. We test drove the Honda and Toyota minivans but the lack of a plug-in was a deal breaker and the Chrysler tech was better. We received the $7,500 tax credit with both models. I'm not otherwise a Chrysler fan, but this has been fabulous for our busy family. Glad we went with the chrome, it looks nice with white paint and will date itself less than the shiny black plastic fad will. We had light interior with the first model and the darker interior has been much easier to live with and elevates the look of the interior. The extra cost for the sunroof hasn't proven useful. Our kids always want it closed to reduce glare on the screens.

Acquired it new in Mar 2023. Two recalls have been done and one engine check light at 26500 miles for power train issue withe Hybird battery coolant temp module(covered under warranty. It's great locally drive 30 miles on nightly level 2 charge (3.5 hrs 240vac) all month topping off gas tank with 2 or 3 gals once a month. On the road great gas mileage and power on the free way. Have driven to AZ from Seattle WA in the heat of summer triple digit weather in some areas and below sea level to high altitudes of 8000 feet. Comfortable ride with lots of interior space. We think it's a great versatile vehicle. Seats 7 and lots of cargo space.

This vehicle is amazing, all the head room, heated seats, the ride, sound system, there’s nothing about this I haven’t liked so far. All around an awesome vehicle!
